FTV receive c&d from Mercedes
 

Haven't seen it mentioned here yet, FTV received a C&D from Mercedes so they have to pull every image with the S..L#&&(*R in it (hey, wouldn't want the M/erce&des lawyers to find this thread :winkwink: )

Where will it stop? C&D from Coke? C&D from your TV manufacturer? C&D from the company that made your kitchen sink?

If that's the case then we should all be shooting in a bare studio, since every manufacturer with a unique product could sue us.

Make sure the backdrop has no texture, the manufacturer might recognise it. :winkwink:

This is quite common on the DVD video side of adult. People get c/d often. It's why when you watch a video you'll never see any type of logo in it.

And no shooting models with Playboy logo tattoos. Imagine finding out someone else owns the copyright to your ass?

every major studio I have worked for took extra special precautions to blank out any labels before the camera was ever turned on

even when I was at a Hustler shoot and they wanted porn magazines on the coffee table, they made sure the names of the porn magazines could not be seen

If I recall right the only thing that would have to be removed is the Mercedes Logo, not the car, however even that may be in question really.

FTV could get an attorney and fight it.
Besides that would be excellent publicity.

but thats their right and if you want to use their product in a commercial venture you need their permission.

Yes we have removed all images from all our hosted promo. We are asking affiliates to please do the same. =/ Its a shame to have to pull the pics of hot girls with such beautiful cars.

i have always thought this was the stupidest fucking law ever - you buy a product it's yours to do what you want with it - but that's not how it works - the clothes manufacturers could do the same thing.

funny thing is that until the movie E.T. all motion pictures and tv shows would have to tape up the logo on any product or make some dumb fake like SuperCola rather than CocaCola - THEN came E.T. and the use of Reece's Pieces - sales of that candy exploded and now manufacturers of everything from candy to Mercedes PAY to get their products into a movie. Product placement.

I would think that Rob's lawyer would have come up with the obscure the Mercedes logo fix if that would do the trick. Maybe because automobiles have body shapes that are instantly recognizable versus something like a soft drink can where if you cover up the Coke logo it could be any one of a hundred different brands.

Because Mercedes doesn't mind their car being associated with what rich people drive. Which is why most celebs get shit for free from the companies, so that they will be seen driving or wearing the products. Many Celebs are even paid to order certain brands of liquor in clubs just so people will over hear what they are ordering and order it also to be like them.

Tell Mercedes to fuck themselves...if you don;t want your brand out there make your shit generic

There are lot's of other brands than Mercedes.

But who would they sue? Paris? Different scenario altogether.

yep, I have been on shoots where we had to put black tape on neon beer signs to make it say something other than "Budweiser" for example.

The usual Mercedes body style is also copyright. You see it mentioned in some of their commercials.

It shows the arrogance of this company
