NFL preseason starting. Who's your team and how are they looking?

I'd say the pats are looking like they will again be a strong contender. They've made some serious moves in the offseason to ensure that, but what about other teams? Who do you think is looking good, and why?

I'm thinking the Falcons aren't going to have a stellar season, but could be wrong. :D

I have a feeling my niners are going to do well this year, they have a solid young talented base and have only added strength to what they had last year, and last year wasn't too bad for them.

Go niners!

Sosa 08-12-2007 05:30 PM

Go niners for sure! Defense is going to be a lot better. Hopefully Smith and Gore tear it up.

CDSmith, care if I hit you up about a mainstream blog site on icq? it's about the niners :)

CDSmith 08-12-2007 05:31 PM

Hit me up anytime.

jaysmoke 08-12-2007 05:32 PM

Go Bills Go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Snake Doctor 08-12-2007 05:33 PM

Dolphins baybee!!!!!!!!!

Not looking that great so far, but hopefully the offense gets going with Cam Cameron calling the plays and Trent Green returning to form.

Our D is stellar as always

CDSmith 08-12-2007 05:46 PM

No cowgirls fans in here yet?

PR_Sebas 08-12-2007 07:39 PM

Yeah, I guess when Detroit is the closest team to you I can understand how you'd want to back a team like the cowgirls man :1orglaugh

I see they just beat the Colts in their first preseason game. Romo looks good, but I wonder how long it will be unitl TO melts downa gain and disrupts the team.

Thread bookmarked. :D

Well, I've been a Cowboys fan all my life and actually the Packers are the closest team, only 4 hours away from here compared to 10 hours for the Lions, but there's waaaaay too many Packer fans around here and it drives me nuts, I could never go with the flow like everyone else, ha ha.

Yeah, I think that with Romo having a full offseason as the QB, I think that he's gonna be pretty sharp and with Wade as the coach, I hope that the defense is gonna be on the ball, more aggressive and not as predictable as when Parcels had them.

Then there's TO, I think that he should have a great year, now that his finger is all better, ha ha.

I don't follow pro football! How 'bout them Huskers?

Axeman 08-12-2007 10:03 PM

Atlanta and despite Vick being out for the year and possibly forever things look pretty good for the team. If Joey can just play even keel football and not try to overdue things, I am very happy with the roster to date.

Our defense looks extremely tight with Jimmy Williams moving to safety and the addition of Houston at corner opposite Hall. Very pleased with the linebackers and the addition of Anderson at end should help the pressure especially if Coleman makes it back this season.

Offensively with Dunn, Norwood and Snelling I am very comfortable. And the emergance of Roddy White this camp and the surprise of Laurent Robinson along with the addition of Joe Horn, things look good.

Special teams coverage was a bit troubling in the first game but we'll see how it shapes up later.

I would love to get another QB in camp though to be 2nd on the depth chart in case Joey starts to get a little over ambitious.

As for my Gators, I am very thrilled to see how this young team performs. Especially the defense. Offensively I am not worried one bit.

But defense got a major overall this year and the group is very young but all with talent and sick speed. I am least concerned about the linebacking core.

Can't wait for the season to begin.

MrKinkade 08-12-2007 10:22 PM

im a die hard browns fan and its going to be a loooooooooooooooooong year

His finger might be all better, but lately he's been having back spasms. :D

They looked good against the Chargers tonight, at least in the few minutes late in the game that I watched. They could have a strong season (not based on this game but on how their team is shaping up)

Kard63 08-12-2007 10:33 PM

The Colts lost some players and gained nothing :( Good thing the Patriots got Randy Moss otherwise they would have owned us.

You guys are fucked. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Then again, you never know. I thought it was hilarious how the Seattle Mariners started winning their division AFTER Griffey, Arod, and Randy Johnson left town. So Vick being out might actually be good for the team.

Yep, stranger things have happened. Look at the Eagles last year losing Mcnabb early-on. Everyone thought there were fucked, then my man Garcia stepped up as did their whole team around him and they ended up having a pretty good season in spite of the "tragedy".

But if I had to call it now I'd have to predict Atlanta goes down in flames this year.

bronco67 08-12-2007 10:51 PM

Eagles...

but football has been so under my radar this year, and my fantasy draft is in 3 weeks.

What have they changed since last year aside from kicking Garcia to the Bucs?

I'm asking. Haven't kept up with their club news and to be honest I don't have the kind of faith in the mastery of McNabb that many seem to have. The man has to get them the rings one of these years as in soon or that'll be it for him.

You forget Vick hurt the team as much as helped most often. he has numerous games with crucial turnovers a ton of them fumbles for being careless. He takes away the threat of the run yes, but Petrino should be able to work around that with 4 wr sets and such

And Joey is reasonable at least.

Also a HUGE Dolphins fan, and looking forward to seeing what the new regime can do. I was fuming for a while over us not drafting Brady Quinn, but the more I see John Beck the more I absolutely love him. The only drawback is he is already almost 26, but I think Trent Green will be a great mentor for him.

I love the Samoan players they are bringing in, too. Samson Satele is looking good at center, and mark my words Reagan Mauia will be a fucking monster fullback.

You missed my point entirely.

I practically agreed with you before you even wrote it. :winkwink:

Nah I don't think everyone thought the eagles were fucked.
They've won alot without McNabb in the past, I think he's about as overrated as they come. Coy Detmer did just as well as McNabb or Garcia in Philly.

The eagle's strength is their line, on both sides. They draft lineman on the first day every year, and they have alot of depth there, that makes life alot easier on all the other positions. :2 cents:

You will be very very thankful down the road you passed on Quinn. He is average at best with a prima dona attitude. Not sure getting Ginn was the next best thing but.

Beck is a real nice player and can give you a good 8-10 years of service.

I agree with this.
From what I've heard Quinn isn't very accurate, and Cam Cameron said "I can help an accurate guy be even more accurate, but I can't get a non-accurate guy to be accurate"

Plus if Quinn was that good he wouldn't have fallen that far, the next 13 teams after the Dolphins didn't want him either, and it's not like there's a surplus of great quarterbacks in the league.

I've never seen Beck so I don't really have an opinion on him, but Randy Mueller has a great history evaluating talent and Cameron has a great history developing quarterbacks, so I'm optimistic.

CDSmith 08-13-2007 03:46 AM

Where are the Giants fans? ha ha, they're not talking.

Same with the Broncos. Not a fan in sight. Whats the story on Cutler... will he deliver with his first full season at QB?

Bengals?

Saints??

This thread needs more smack talk. :D

Pittsburgh Steelers are going to win it all this year. :thumbsup
