OMG Jim 08-14-2007 12:01 PM

I've been a "Dirty Bird" for WAY TOO MANY years here in the ATL.

After last season and what has happened during the off season I have finally switched my alliance to......

The good news: they ddin't have to.

Plenty of so-called 'powerhouse' teams also didn't pull it off. I did however see some signs of real strength and promise in their play. They could very well be the dark horse team to watch out for this year.

What a complete and utter waste of your time....

We have something similar in my country called rugby... keeps all the drunks and poor, slow and stupid people occupied and gives them something to talk about at their meaningless jobs on monday morning

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to bump this thread.

I take it we won't be seeing you participating in any of the big NFL pools this year. :D

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE RAIDER NATION!
LOOK OUT AFC, THE #3 DEFENSE GOT EVEN BETTER!
AND SINCE THE OFFENSE CAN'T GET ANY WORSE - I THINK WE'RE READY!

I PREDICT 9 WINS THIS SEASON AND A SERIOUS CHALLANGE FOR THE #1 DEFENSE! AND A RUN BY SAPP AT THE SINGLE SEASON SACK RECORD!

AND LIKE THIS POST # - YOU WILL SEE THAT NUMBER ALL OVER THE LEADING RECEIVERS STATS!

I think you're dreaming, but it is a new season and anything is possible.

Good luck with all that. :D

He had to have been kidding. No way would a die-hard long time Falcons fan just "switch teams" like that... unless he was coming out of the closet. Even then he wouldn't become a Saints fan. :D

Yeah he retired at the end of the year last year, they talked about it all season long.

You spent last season in a treehouse or something? :1orglaugh

The Incredible Skulk 08-15-2007 12:11 AM

Go Blue!

I was born a Giants fan and always will be. Without Tiki and now possibly Strahan, I don't think I'll be making any Super Bowl plans. They were the offensive and defensive keystones, and without them there is a bit of rebuilding to do. Eli may mature into a great quarterback, but I'm not expecting much out of this season. But hey, that's the life of a Giants fan.

Some of you may have missed the suble meaning of the upsidedown smiley in my post above. I was being facetious at Gerard's expense, but perhaps I was too subtle? :D

The guys you mentioned are all replaceable, whether anyone wants to admit it or not. The guy who steps in may not be "as good", or he might in some ways be even better, you never know.

There are plenty of guys out there playing those positions who kick ass, I have no doubt the Giants organization is trying their best to fill their shoes. Teams have lost star players before and gone on to do great things, I wouldn't give up all hope just yet.

Okay who are we kidding, it's the GIANTS, they're done for. :1orglaugh

The Incredible Skulk 08-15-2007 01:53 AM

@CDSmith

I got that you were joking. Just adding my thoughts to the mix. And while the Giants may find replacements for Tiki and Strahan as far as ability, those two were Giants verterans, well respected team leaders, and very big motivators.

Talent can be easily and quickly replaced. Respect and leadership takes time. This will definitely be a rebuilding season. And like you said, who are we kidding? It's the Giants. As a lifelong Giants fan, I've grown quiet accustom to that queasy feeling you get as you watch a sizeable lead dwindle to a deficit in the final minutes of the game. But I still love 'em. Go Blue!

That kind of loyalty I can respect.

(having had to endure many years of late watching my niners flounder)

Things are looking up for me and my team lately though, I'm sure they will eventually for you as well.

Serious?

For some reason I don't see them being much of a factor this year, not sure why.

It would have to be one of those Saints type turnarounds.

New offensive minded coach, new solid veteran quarterback, new 1st round speedster on special teams.

I see alot of similarities, except that Ted Ginn won't be taking handoffs, BUT the Fins have a top 5 defense and the Saints D was pretty thin.

Tis a lucky man who has a woman that sits there on Sunday (and monday night) and watches along with him. Very lucky indeed.

Speaking of the Saints, any idea how their "D" is looking this year? I'm honestly suprised that few if any Saints fans have popped in here to squawk about how they are going to 'kill' everyone this year.

Was their cinderella season over last year and that's it?

Same thing goes for the chargers.
