Any other mustard lovers here?

Mustard is definitely my condiment of choice and I love trying the different varieties. Lately I have been loving me a bit of wasabi mustard. A nice honey mustard is good too.

So, any other mustard lovers here and what varieties do it the most for you?

What does that taste like? Spicy, sweet, etc?

Sexsitesurfer 08-03-2007 02:15 AM

I love honey mustard in a ham sandwich. I wouldn't say mustard is my favourite condiment, but I certainly buy new varieties when I see them and most of the time I like them.

Dijon and whole grain are solid choices too.

bns666 08-03-2007 02:16 AM

i like hungarian mustard :)

Porn Farmer 08-03-2007 02:16 AM

I like mustard but it has to be hot.

Hot English mustard is my favourite. American mustard, like American beer, is weak.

tenderobject 08-03-2007 02:19 AM

thats my favourite condiments! yummm!

Dugmor 08-03-2007 02:20 AM

you sit on the toilet for hours on end studying. you came from the country. you are interested in reading keith richards memoirs. you love mustard.

it's becoming quite obvious to me that we are two, very different individuals.

don't "read" into this.. i'm just typing out loud :)

and i'll pass my mustard to you.

cheers.

English mustard will give you a nose bleed if you eat too much of it at once.

lol..I don't sit there for hours..just when I am sitting there I tend to also be reading.

I can't help that I came from the country..not my fault where my parents had sex.

Keith Richards has lived a rather unique life.

Mustard rocks.

So, if we are different people..oh, well. Just makes the world more interesting. I mean, if everybody liked mustard it would be harder to buy.

I will put a little bit of mustard in my tuna salad but it usually isn't a sweet type. I have a nice garlic mustard that works well in tuna salad.

hmmmm... if everyone liked mustard everyone who had the means to buy it would. since it would be a commonly bought item everyplace would stock it for sale. if it were stocked everywhere it would not be in limited supply -- it would be made in mass quanities. goods made in mass quanties equal lower production costs which in turn trickle down to the consumer who will spend less money on these items.

i came back to this thread to say that something which i have now forgot. it was something nice :) lol

oh boy. what the hell am i doing here in this mustard thread. i _dislike_ mustard. :upsidedow

Last time I checked, mustard was a commonly bought item and was pretty much stocked in every food place.

When I first moved here I didn't know it was that strong and did something similar. Man, my nose hurt.

ADL Eddie 08-03-2007 04:04 AM

Careful. If you don't use condiments properly you can get diseases. or even worse, pregnant.

You mean the small black mustard seeds or the ones that are like the ones you find in whole grain mustard? Both, I suppose but the small black ones I have used in cooking Indian food and the whole grain type I have pounded to make my own mustard when I was feeling artsy.

I haven't had a leaf or flower though.

oh snap!
you make your own mustard?
what did you mix with it? did you let it "sit"? if so, how long?

jonesonyou 08-03-2007 05:28 AM

me likes the spicy mustard.

I have only done it once. It was AfterShock from GFY that actually got me to try it. I used this recipe - http://www.recipezaar.com/37981 and I let it sit for about three weeks but I should maybe have left it longer but it tasted nice. I have a ton more seeds here so I want to try it again with another flavouring.

alby_persignup 08-03-2007 07:40 AM

mustard always good for me!

I love mustard - but only good old fashioned yellow mustard... I don't like it when they mess it up with funky flavors :-)

Tom_PM 08-03-2007 08:25 AM

The reaction I have to it is far beyond "I dont care for it". It's a violent reaction involving my guts squeezing together and expelling everything up up up and away in record time. The amazing thing is that it's not an allergy. It's just THAT bad! lol

Sorry to be a downer! But yuckkkk!!!! :Oh crap

BigB 08-03-2007 08:50 AM

Philipes Restaurant in LA has the best mustard on the planet...
hands down..

Their Beef (I prefer Lamb) Dips are legendary as well...

but everytime there.. we stock up with at least 4 jars of the
mustard that is spicy fo' Sho'

I hated mustard when I was a kid, but now I love it. It has replaced mayo in my life.

Try marinating your meat in this:

6 cloves mashed garlic
3tbsp spicy brown mustard
1tbsp horseradish
1/4 tsp cayenne
1 tsp black pepper
3 tbsp balsamic vinegar
4 tbsp olive oil

Mustard's great!

If you ever make it up to Wine country, be sure to discover which wineries also make their own mustards... lots of mustard tastings to be had, too.

My favorites were probably from Hop Kiln.
