stolen content...what to do? (mgreg, mojohost)

thread for your reference...
fucking-around-and-business-discussion/750709-legal-shit-stupid-sob.html

So nobody seems to care about a "bro" using stolen content to promote other sites with. I believe the industry should police itself.

What happens when the industry doesn't police itself? How many chances does one deserve before the final whistle is blown?

swampthing 07-29-2007 01:00 PM

mojohost doesnt read gfy? :)

Blue Player 07-29-2007 01:35 PM

Brad is a fucking top guy. Mojohost are one of the best players in this industry and if they knew about it would kick the fucker in the balls very hard.

Just email support at mojohost.com and tell them and Brad will be on it faster than a crack whore on a rock.

SmokeyTheBear 07-29-2007 01:40 PM

you have it all wrong.. i'm sure the content owner put it there so they can get "branding"

Pete-KT 07-29-2007 04:07 PM

I just told brad about this thread

patmccrotch 07-29-2007 04:16 PM

I don't see how you can expect the host to police that content. If a host starts taking responsibility for one persons content, then they would have to take responsibility for everything on their network.

So where does their liability end then? Should they be checking 2257 docs? What if a girl "looks too young"? Is it up to their opinion?

Never the less, the guy that owns that site is out of australia. Maybe that content isn't illegal there... can you prove the girls aren't over 18? or that the content wasn't licensed?

If you're truly concerned, then you report it to the authorities. Don't put the burdon on the hosting company, that's rediculous.

Of course, if they are registered with Directnic, they are more than happy to police all of the people who register their domains there. Maybe you should research that so they can stick their noses, once again, where it doesn't belong.

You took the time to write all this, but not read the first post?

What does proving the girls age have to do with the content being stolen?

patmccrotch 07-29-2007 04:23 PM

I did read the first post.

I interpreted "some of these pics look pretty illegal to me" as saying that say were underage.

not only can he not prove the ages, he does not own the content or have a right to use it.

lets also not forget... he is linking to mp3's from his main page, and has a ton of celebrity pictures of which are not his to upload.

patmccrotch 07-29-2007 04:31 PM

and why is this his hosts problem?

also, should he have the documents or perhaps... the pictures fall under some sort of public domain, who does he need to submit that paperwork too? you? if he shows you the paperwork, will he be exaunerated?

if you see a guy speeding and driving crazy on the freeway, do you call up Shell and ask them why they sold him gas? Or Ford to see why they ever sold him a car?

Last time I checked it's the weekend and I have better things to be doing with my family than sit and respond to your posts on GFY. If you had emailed abuse at mojohost dot com we would be already be in the process of researching whatever you have found, preparing a response and speaking to our client if necessary.

There isn't anything that we don't follow up on. Know this though; GFY is not our support or abuse mechanism. If you're under the mis-guided impression that you are going to get some "faster" or "different" type of response by posting here you are mistaken.

I emailed you two weeks ago (+/-) in response to your original email and received no response. Perhaps you never received my email. You are neither a customer or a copyright holder. Nonetheless, if you have a complaint about specific images or content on any client servers email details to abuse and I'll be the one to research the subject and respond.

Cheers,

Brad

Nice to see you have responded. Now, maybe its time to forward all of this info to the AFP and FBI, and maybe then you might take this more seriously.

I didn't email you. That wasn't me.

Dont give me that shit about gfy not being your support forum. I dont give a rats ass what is or isnt your support forum.

Also, this subject has been on the boards for a few weeks now, so you can quit with the "its the weekend" shit.

Clean up your shit before someone steps in and does it for you.

Are you going to post on GFY to get the FBI's attention too? Use the proper channels to get a real response.

Why does this need a second thread?

You made yourself look like an ass the first time, what exactly do you think has changed since then? You don't own the copyright to those images and unless you do you should keep your nose in your own business :2 cents:

If Brad hasnt been hit with a DMCA then it is not a problem. No one has complained about the site so I dont see why you are bitching.

Brad is one of the best hosts in the world in adult. I am setting up another 5 servers with him as we speak and would recommend him to anyone.

thats allright.. its time to send it all to the AFP.

The industry doesn't care, which is evident from the responses I have gotten about the issue.

By the way.. Im sure copyright violations will be sent to him. As i have stated before, I have talked to a couple celeb photographers who are aware of their photos on his servers.

I apologize if I am mistaken, I was under the impression that the email I received and responded to was in fact you, that is surely how it read. My response was quite a detailed and that IS how we respond, by email and as such that is why there is no response in other threads. We always investigate and repond to abuse complaints. Since you're saying it wasn't you, I'll make this easy:

Just as the authorities have a process, so do hosts. We work with the authorities when prudent and we investigate all properly reported complaints to and follow up with both complaintants, clients and if it were ever appropriate just directly with the authorities. This is an anonymous forum. If you would like to be taken seriously and receive a real response, this is how you accomplish that.

If you're trying to accomplish something for the greater good of either our industry or the public at large then you will get much farther making a little bit of effort to be professional and thorough. I wouldn't recommend continuing down the path of making disparaging comments. You are making several assumptions, the least of which is that we haven't already researched and addressed what you continue to speak about.

We have never corresponded with one another so you're making quite the miscalculation if you're lumping me in with an 'industry that doesnt care'. By all comparisions, our ethics meet or exceed virtually everything in the adult space. If you're looking for someone to pick on and be taken seriously, I'm the wrong host because our reputation is flawless.

Absolutely, if a copyright holder has a DMCA complaint please bring it so I can address it. Talk is cheap, especially on forums.

Brad

look at the guys site.

do the pretenders or jill scott have to email you to?
there are copyright violations all over that site.

Blue Player 07-29-2007 05:43 PM

Brad just ignore him. He is obviously running you down as he is probably employed by another hosting company.

I dont know why he is getting his pants in a twist over content that doesnt belong to him.

Are you totally clueless?? A host is not the Judge, Jury and Executioner. If you have a legit copyright complaint, then follow the proper rules and guidelines set fourth in the DMCA and notify the site owner and host in the proper methods or shut the fuck up already.:2 cents::2 cents:

fris 07-29-2007 05:49 PM

petiteteenager has all *legal* content, anyone who knows greg from PT, knows he would never do something like that.

oh, so now im with another hosting company. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

if your also an affiliate of some of mgreg's sponsors.... how do you feel, that you have to compete against stolen content, and quite possibly, other illegal material in order pay your bills?

doesn't upset you at all to know you bust your ass running an honest business, and guys who upload whatever the fuck they want, are raking in money and being protected by the sponsors and hosts who benefit from the activity?

the actual photographer would have to contact the host that owns those photos, since celebrity paparazzi shots nobody really knows who owns which, its kinda an iffy area. Look at all the gossip sites, they post them daily. i guess you are gonna have to contact their hosts too? :1orglaugh

Hope it helps you land that next business deal.
