Should I splash out and buy this car?

I dont know how to drive, but I got the money and I would definitley learn to drive if I had one of these cars. I love mercedes have all my life and have always wanted one.

this would be a pimp car for someone my age and my mother said life is for living and that she wouldnt mind it being my first car.. SO im seriously thinking about it.

Im of to university next year so i think its a bit of a waste as i wont be using it there that much

but having a mercedes at my age is just too cool to think about the consequences. It would be something i would remember all my life.

whats your advice gfy? Should I live life or be catious? Also car 1 or car 2 do you think would be cooler? Car 1 is a holiday car for me and a friend and car 2 is a clubbing car for my homies to go in the back.
Tell me about your tails on living out the wild life?!

Car 1

p.s. it would pretty much clear my bank account, either of the cars, so theres the catch.

thricer 05-27-2007 06:57 AM

I would buy the car number2 if I had the money :)

PinPine 05-27-2007 07:01 AM

What is the weather like where you from. If it's great, I would go for care number 1 otherwise take number 2.

slapass 05-27-2007 07:03 AM

I have a convertible in the frozen north and love it. Go the whole way dude. Get it and enjoy.

stickyfingerz 05-27-2007 07:06 AM

Splash out??? :uhoh lol

Jakke PNG 05-27-2007 07:08 AM

Buy a cheaper car as your first car..you'll wreck it anyhow.

Bro Media - BANNED FOR LIFE 05-27-2007 07:08 AM

how about getting something cheap? save the money....

Jarmusch 05-27-2007 07:10 AM

Car #1 has a hardtop, so it's as good as car #2 as far as bad weather is concerned.

But car #1 only has two seats and as always been considered a bit of a girly car that only chicks drive.

You can either, go for car #2 or for whichever car leaves you with the most spare money to buy cool rims, because the rims on those two cars are boring as fuck!

About spending that much money, I say go for it, you're young and got your whole life ahead of you to make rivers of money, so yeah fuck it.

The weather is shit, but I would just put the roof up during the winter, spring and autumn. But yeh I do like no.2 but then i like no.1 hmmmmm

Because all my firends have cheap cars. I wanna be different. I wanna be ScottyBuzz! I wanna be top. I wanna be the kid who had the merc at 18.

True but... its a mercedes!

polish_aristocrat 05-27-2007 07:13 AM

how much money you want / can spend /need for it?

spideriux 05-27-2007 07:13 AM

I'll buy 2nd one

polish_aristocrat 05-27-2007 07:14 AM

funny thing - few months ago you don't think buying an old Ford would make sense and now you ford a Mercedes :)

funny how it changes

Ross 05-27-2007 07:29 AM

Cars are my weak spot. I'd spend everything I had on my dream car and wouldn't care less. I could be homeless but as long as I had a nice ride I wouldn't care.

My next car is a BMW Z4. Picking it up when I get back my vacation. After that going for a Porsche :)

DamageX 05-27-2007 07:30 AM

Buying a car that will clear your bank account is one of the absolute dumbest financial moves anyone can make in their entire life.

ServerGenius 05-27-2007 07:59 AM

car number 1 is a girly merc. Car number 2 is a Dutch / German Taxi. I wouldn't
buy neither of them.

Getting a mercedes will get you chicks until they find out you are living with your parents:2 cents:

HighSociety 05-27-2007 08:01 AM

you do not know how to drive?
If mom is paying for it or gave you the money then buy it,
looks like 50/50

Yes even if you live with your parents. It's a pure liability, the insurance will be sky high, you got petrol, tax, mot and servicing to factor in too.

Take that money and put a deposit down on a house, put tenants in and go off to uni. In 4 years time you'll be leaving uni with a house that someone's been paying off for you and has enough equity in it too buy you a a brand new mercedes :thumbsup

donnie 05-27-2007 08:03 AM

Here is my advice to you and you can thank me later.

Do not buy any of those two cars. The first one is a hairdresser?s car (and I mean male hairdresser?s car). It is like buying Miata.

The second one is a bit better IF you buy a 320. 320 is a bit bigger and looks nicer than 200-230 but still it?s not a car I would buy right now. I was thinking about it when that model first came out but you can buy a nicer car for that kind of money.

ServerGenius 05-27-2007 08:05 AM

living with your parents? No drivers license yet? I correct my previous advice car number 1 has your name all over it gurl!

BucksMania 05-27-2007 08:06 AM

go for it and have fun
life is about fun.....well at least at that age :)

p.s.
car #1 is more fun
but still i would go for a BMW

Humpy Leftnut 05-27-2007 08:10 AM

If you think that you need $200k to buy a ferrari, you're delusional. You need way more money than the car costs. You pretty much answered whether you should get it or not. If you can't stop yourself, you have bigger problems on your hands.

1> you don't really need it
2> you don't know how to drive
3> you want it so you can tell a story about how cool you were to your grandkids? My grandparents used to have a CADILLAC! WOW! Kids don't care.
4> you have just enough to afford it.

Why don't you just keep making money with your money, and then buy something you can afford, when you need it?

The money that I will buy the car with is my money that I earned.

Yeh you make nice points. When I say it would clear my account out. What i mean is it would clear my account out for like a week. I would still be getting cheques which I can pay for pertol with etc. Also im not going to buy a car today as I dont even know how to drive. so say in 3 months time when I pass it wont clear out my account.

But I see what you mean. Infact very sensible thoughts :disgust

polish_aristocrat 05-27-2007 08:29 AM

to clarify - you're buying a used one, for like $10k, right?

Scotty.T 05-27-2007 08:39 AM

Have you had insurance quotes for either of them yet? :)

Thanks :thumbsup
I dont want anything Pre-2002.

I was going to quit adult because I was not happy with the lifestyle for the amount I was earning.

I would rather earn half of what I earn if I was having fun like working in a cafe or a club and sociallising.

I cant stand my social work life being gfy and other forums :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Adult is definitley not a long term for me.:upsidedow

Very good advice. Also consider the fact that even if the car's used, by the time you get to sell it off it will have lost a significant part of its value. Add that to the cost of owning it and driving it and you'll hopefully realize that you'll be fucking yourself sore. Take pound's advice here for using the money and buy a moped for transportation. You may think people would laugh at you now, but a few years down the road you'll be the one laughing at them.

kektex 05-27-2007 09:32 AM

I would take that money and invest it in something else and get a cheaper car.Or a motorcycle.
You never know what happens tomorrow and if for some reason you stop getting those cheques you are going to be up shit creek.

Sosa 05-27-2007 09:34 AM

sounds like a stupid mistake if you buy either one of them

Evil E 05-27-2007 09:43 AM

If you want to be a Bromaster yo need to go with the Mercedes!

But like everyone said in this thread, this is fucking stupid. So unless you're a moran you won't do it.

You could get a decent used car for 5-10k.

Humpy Leftnut 05-27-2007 09:53 AM

Anyways, you're not really looking for advice, you know what you should do. :)
