I shot that with little thought less than hour ago. I was trying to make a point to a friend that wanted to get into stock photography. My point to her was to think outside the box and target.

Honestly, its a good idea, but the highlights are a little too blown out. If you adjusted the levels in PS might want to try cropping the black but not the white. If its just the way it is, then thats just the way it is =)

not really, I think the dog just looks really intense about something but that simply makes me wonder if he is missing somebody or just watching the traffic

In actuality she is a perfectly healthy 4yo. My best friend which I've had since 8 weeks.

I don't know how people are getting 'a nice spring day' from the pic. Yes you can see the glare from the street, but the pic on the whole looks sad, and as though it could be from a part in a sad movie or something.

You could write a full scene from a script with that pic in there... Nice work !
