.XXX If I Gave Up The Names Of Who Is Behind The Scenes On This....

Lets just say if i had the complete list of who is involved and has made all the future traffic deals and has been paid money for there votes....

What would you do?

1. Trade it for massive life time traffic?

2. Just post it up so everyone can see who is selling us out?

3. Sell it back to one of those on the list, biggest offer gets it?

4. Keep it to myself and be a good guy and not rock the boat...lol

:1orglaugh

Screaming 01-26-2007 07:24 PM

seeric 01-26-2007 07:28 PM

you know you won't do that.

on the other hand, it is probably a good idea that i don't know everyone involved. i am not as stable as you i might have a lip leak.

Mark_E4A 01-26-2007 07:28 PM

2. Just post it up so everyone can see who is selling us out?

This is deff the right option, I bet those people would change their mind in a hurry if they were outed as the sell outs.

Who the hell wants to do biz with a sell out..

Just out of curiosity what happens to all the traffic we all spent soooo much time building on our .com's ?

Nikki_Licks 01-26-2007 07:33 PM

Weren't you the onwe that had a list from last year? Might as well throw them on the fire now.
People could get a quick sense of who is who real fast

dig420 01-26-2007 07:35 PM

this is the kind of thread that never turns into anything.

NEVER.

seeric 01-26-2007 07:35 PM

mike is way to nice and professional to do that. his company is solid and reputable.

now, should i accidentally receive an anonymous email someway i won't take much convincing to be part of internet history.

Most likely will be redirected to the .xxx - makes ya wonder who already bought (or has first rights to register the .xxx domains :) )

If it's the kids best interest at heart that they are looking out for **my eye** then they should be converting the present .com domains to .xxx - so the rightful owners get their domains again.

Any special deal domains, go to the obvious owner or owner with proof of lease/rent/borrow/guarantee contracts.

That would be too logical and wouldn't line enough legislator pockets though.

Thank you Mr DJ...

After Shock Media 01-26-2007 07:51 PM

Just spill it and watch the firefight.

You will be my hero.

tony286 01-26-2007 07:51 PM

I think Mike you would get more traffic to your program then you could imagine. What the big fish dont think about is a shit load of little fish equals a shit load of traffic.

DateDoc 01-26-2007 07:51 PM

Sell it to the highest bidder and then let a friend you accidentally told post it on GFY!

tony286 01-26-2007 07:53 PM

Another thought leak it to Mike south and he will post it on his site ,he doesnt care who he pisses off lol

Z 01-26-2007 08:19 PM

Mike, you and I both know that you're too much a class act to leak this. I won't spill the couple of people I know either.

BUT it will come out and when it does, they'll get what they've got coming. You and I will relaxing on a beach somewhere with a cigar in one hand and that smug grin that serves us so well. :thumbsup

BubeeMike 01-26-2007 08:26 PM

I am sure copyright and trademark laws will prevail? But I wonder on non trademarked domains. I wonder what the attorneys are saying?

spunkmister 01-26-2007 08:28 PM

why start a thread like this when you arn't gonna do anything anyway? If you have a list then either let others know whos on it or dont say aything...

MikeHawk 01-26-2007 09:18 PM

Ok, so here is what i am going to say...

I just got off the phone with Tom Hymes from Xbiz...he is very much still fighting against this .XXX...i know a way that this can be defeated even if this gets passed and for me that is even better, cause if they spent millions to get this thru not seeing it work would be even better in my mind.

There is a way to protect your trade mark, and taking the issue up with ICANN...not buying the domains and re directing to your .com is the way to defeat this issue...and at that point all they have is a new domain .XXX that nobody is part of.

Fear based sales is the key to there success a very well thought out plan is in the works at this time to put together owners of companies at small and large level to counter what is happening...

So what i say is this....if it means that much to them and they want to take charge of our business we all have worked so hard to create....dont let them, and its simple...like in any biz ..protect your "trademark" file on your own behalf with a lawyer, Jeffery Douglas is our lawyer and will file to protect us, we will stand back and not buy the Smashbucks mark, if any one trys to appear to be us we sue there brains out...simple.

At that time we dont "buy into "there idea of we or us or anybody "having to" buy this .XXX....simple.

So to recap...the only way this will become hurtful or become an issue is if we let it, that is by "buying into" or spending 1 penny to buy a domain we clearly dont need.

:2 cents:

Kimo 01-26-2007 09:21 PM

please spill it, please :)

Mr. Jim 01-26-2007 09:23 PM

I do not know Jeffrey well Mike.... met a few times and he strikes me as the kind of guy who is telling you... "not much to worry about".

Again... Acacia.... they shmoozed with the big boys had a couple sign... thought the rest would be a lay down. This is deja vu... when it is time to circle the wagons I think we will and I would be shocked if JD thought there was a credible threat.

I could be wrong though...

EBORG9 01-26-2007 09:24 PM

Give me the list, I'll out them in a second and it wont cost me anything, most of my business is mainstream.

Pleasurepays 01-26-2007 09:25 PM

i seem to recall that lensman made a post about him supporting .xxx

am i wrong?

tony286 01-26-2007 09:26 PM

I think this is different than acacia lots of people see this as a second chance of being part of the gold rush.

It isn't that simple. If you own joeblow.com and someone else registers joeblow.xxx, you can of course do nothing, hope that typein traffic loss is minimal and that .xxx is never made mandatory. What you would be very foolish to do is let joeblow.xxx operate for years, intending only to bring a trademark at a later date if circumstances change. Assuming the courts would ordinarily agree that you do indeed have a trademark claim, they still take a dim view of people who do not defend their trademarks vigorously and consistently.

My thoughts on reading your original post were that even if you had the list and made it public, I doubt there would be any surprises and at most, the impact might be a few days of drama on the boards.

It is to be expected that an industry only beginning to emerge from the "gold rush" stage, is still populated largely by short-term thinkers with limited ambition and imagination. Still it never ceases to amaze me that if you were to invite only those who have tried to make their voices heard about any of the serious issues which have affected this industry to date, it would be hard to fill a large conference room.

mikeyddddd 01-26-2007 11:12 PM

This is one time that #2 would give me wood.

Tryme 01-26-2007 11:33 PM

if you have the list and don't share it, you are just as bad as they are.

Sambo 01-26-2007 11:37 PM

3 and then 2.....

TORTOISE 01-26-2007 11:43 PM

yes if my memory serves me well..didnt I hear comments that Lensman had a big investment or interest in the .xxx last time this subject was discussed...:(

SmokeyTheBear 01-27-2007 12:00 AM

silence speaks volumes

spacedog 01-27-2007 12:04 AM

Anyone who supports this is tool. :2 cents:

It would be one thing if it would really help things, and come at a fair price, but we all know that is not going to happen. All it's going to do is allow kids to type "ANYTHING.XXX" and find porn. Total fucking sham.

mikesouth 01-27-2007 12:51 AM

As would I. To keep this a secret is to say a big fuck you to each and every one of us.

SleazyDream 01-27-2007 01:35 AM

why protect their privacy on an issue like this?

seeric 01-27-2007 01:49 AM

anonymous email to djairek [at] gmail dot com would pretty much handle it.

i don't know where it game from. ;)

There is that, but there are drawbacks to that idea as well.
