Are you a sun addict? Or do you sun block yourself?

I have always been a sun addict. I grew up in the South and I love the heat, the sun, etc.

I always get pretty dark in the summertime so I rarely use any sun-block; although I do use sun tan lotions with a mild degree of protection many times.

I was reading an article that said no matter how dark you are, you should always wear full sun block (rain or shine).

Seemed like overkill....

I grew up in the sun, I suppose one day I may well have issues. Who knows?

scottybuzz 06-19-2006 01:47 PM

I hate the sun, hense why I love living in england. Ive grown up with bad weather, but instead of hating it i love it.

Sun makes me slow, inactive and sweaty.

sorry to put a downer on the thread.

But id quite like to move to a mountain with sun, but a cold tempreture and snow.

BobG 06-19-2006 01:48 PM

I don't know man.... I'm Mexican so brown but kinda light. Never really used the stuff. Growing up in NorCal in 90+ most of the summer I never really used the stuff and I'd get pretty dark. Now, down here in SD, It's rarely hot enough to campare to that but I'll put it on here and there just to follow the crowd I guess and because of the scary commercials.

I never use any block.
of course, I don't get as much sun as I used to.
Always end up with a golfers tan.

I just grew up in it similar to Bob. Sometimes I wonder if I did damage. I grew up in the days whereas if you were predominately dark, you didn't need sun-block.

Now arguments are trying to state the contrary.

Who knows.

WiredGuy 06-19-2006 01:51 PM

I have the webmaster tan, you know the kind that if we're in the sun more than 5 minutes we'll spontaneously combust.

Funbrunette 06-19-2006 02:00 PM

I'm screwed I use to sit outside greased up in baby oil in my high school years! So I don't leave the house now without protection! :winkwink:

I used to worship the sun and the only time I would use sunblock is if I had already overdone it and had a burn. At 41 I can honestly say that I am seeing the effects of what I did to my skin for many, many years. I wish I could go back in time and treat my skin better.

poisson 06-19-2006 02:09 PM

Since i have clear blue eyes, i cant be in the sun for long.

:(

This is exactly what worries me. I am considering just wearing sun-block all the time.

I am like you, always in the sun...

Peaches 06-19-2006 02:57 PM

We grew up on the water - either at the lake, beach, river, or pool. Whatever damage I've done to my skin is already done, no sense in worrying about it now.

My grandfather had skin cancer on his face from spending so much time on the water growing up. He probably hadn't been out in the sun for more than 40 years when he got it, so I think whatever you absorb growing up is what gets you. So....I'll continue to fry myself out at the pool, lake and beach :)

I'm Irish, live in Vegas and I am rarely in the sun. You'd better believe I use block when I am.

I played tennis 4 hours a day for 18 years... I did quite a bit of damage. I see guys who continued on coaching and playing on the tour, and by 30, they look like their skin is about 55.

Even if you don't want to wear total sunblock I would think that wearing some type of lotion with a good SPF would be better than nothing. Keeping your skin from burning is very important.

Hell House Vic 06-19-2006 03:56 PM

I love the sun. It's the source of health. Fuck science.

LoriAnderson 06-19-2006 04:02 PM

I love the sun too :) its always good to put sunblock on ur face too.

Gabriel 06-19-2006 04:03 PM

I love the sun, I dont mind mowing the lawn shirtless while drinking beer during sunny days. Its part of the summer experience.

Cory try using butter, it soothes, smells good, and when it mixes with your salty sweat it tastes like popcorn.

Spunky 06-19-2006 04:04 PM

I burn like a lobster..not a sun worshiper

BoNgHiTtA 06-19-2006 04:04 PM

Just got back from Cabo San Lucas last week. THe whole time I used SPF 50, cause if I don't I get fucking a sun Rash that sucks big time. I like being in the sun, but seriously fuck getting cancer.

2HousePlague 06-19-2006 04:05 PM

Adam_M 06-19-2006 07:18 PM

I love the sun!

Interesting to see how much the incidence of skin cancer hes risen since the introduction of sun block.

Read what is in that shit and ask yourself if it or the sun is bad for you. (toxic waste)

anne 06-19-2006 07:57 PM

Sun??? hahah is there such a think? Actually we had a pretty sunny day here in seattle ;) I however slather on the sunblock I dont want early wrinkles ;)

Pornwolf 06-19-2006 09:06 PM

I only use sunblock when I'm in the middle east. Contrary to popular belief, the people over there are nice so you don't have to worry about them, but It seems like the sun WILL KILL YOU instead of guns.

Stacey_JoinRightNow 06-19-2006 09:24 PM

I love the sun and everytime I go to beach, it seems I always forgot to sunblock myself which good thing my lover always remind me. Yeah sun block lotion does help somehow.

As grown up in the sun as u might be Cory, you might cosinder it a lifesaver if you come downunder to the australian heat, we have areas where the Ozone layer has holes in it here and when u couple it with 120 Faranheit temperatures noone is safe :(

germ 06-19-2006 09:50 PM

good timing on this thread. i just got back from bonnaroo and my ears and neck are peeling horribly.

i look like i have some sort of skin disease.

cadillacking 06-19-2006 09:59 PM

Sun addict, I cannot get enough of the 100 degree days.

fallenmuffin 06-19-2006 10:02 PM

What is this sun you speak of?

Sosa 06-19-2006 10:04 PM

I have to use sun screen or I fucking get sun burned really fast. I don't tan, only burn.

iWeb_Iya 06-19-2006 10:12 PM

I love the sun and I love the sun block lotion. :thumbsup :1orglaugh :thumbsup

fetishblog 06-19-2006 10:14 PM

I'm allergic to the sun. Direct sunlight on my skin causes it to itch like mad.

Peaches 06-19-2006 10:54 PM

My hair is so thin that I have to wear a hat or I'll burn on my head, then it peels and I look like I have the worst case of dandruff!
