Mac is best for animation and design things there is quiet few univercities using macs for that and it is very stable plus now intle is on macs so u can run windows on them but i think your problem is mainly the operating system cuz microsoft is known for crapy Operating Systems.

juve20 05-04-2006 11:22 AM

I switched from PC to Mac almost 2 years ago now. I fucking love my Macs and will never go back. The first two weeks I hated it. It took a few weeks to learn how to do things a better way. Now I can't stand touching a PC.

ffmihai 05-04-2006 11:23 AM

you would have to search more for mac version of softwares

Donny 05-04-2006 11:23 AM

By the way:

The new Macs will run both Windows XP and Mac OSX. Dual boot. You just which OS to use when it starts up.

atom 05-04-2006 11:24 AM

i just shit on my mac and bought a PC. wasnt worth the effort....

I've never NOT been able to find something I want. It may not be the exact same program from the exact same company, but there is always an alternative that is usually better than what's available on the PC.

I'm with Manowar on this one:thumbsup

Dave, you can buy one of the new Macs that have the Intel Chip in them. The best part about it is that you can partition your hard drive evenly and run a Widnows opperating system on one partition and the Mac Os on the other. So far i hear it works very well and people are not having any trouble with it. :2 cents: :2 cents:

Just_Dave 05-04-2006 11:45 AM

look if i can do all the same things with mac i dont need a windows operating system , what do you guys use your macs for

Donny 05-04-2006 11:54 AM

I use my macs for everything. I don't use the windows operating system. Just saying that's available if you want it.

Once you go Mac, you'll never go back! Mac all the way! :thumbsup

Get a PC. Nothing like using an OS that generates files that the rest of the world can open.

Abyss_Vee 05-04-2006 01:24 PM

mac is for gayzzz :1orglaugh

D 05-04-2006 01:30 PM

I say it depends on what you want to do with your system.

If you want a video/graphical production work-horse, and don't mind spending 10-30% more every time you want to buy something that's related to your computer, then go Mac.

Otherwise, go PC.

It also probably bears mentioning that if you're even a bit of a computer gamer, definitely go PC.

openoffice.org

And add another mac vote for me. Been using them for years, most of those who continually say its hard to find programs etc, lack experience.

Theyve learned how to do things the ass backwards and in my mind 'hard way' that windows teaches people. After a fresh install of windows you have loads and loads of software you need to install just to keep your machine functional. No such headaces with macs. You should expect more :)

My macbook pro can play quake 4 and doom 3 jacked up to high settings without missing a beat, running on XP. When I'm done gaming i switch back to OSX ;).

New intel macs are actually great for all the current games, even though they might get a little outdated for the next gen of games on the horizon.

fetishblog 05-04-2006 01:38 PM

PC of course.

Examples of anything that is 30 - 40% more please... The phrase "You get what you pay for" comes to mind when buying a Mac.

Ya, cuz Macs have never really been that well known for their amazing graphics... :error

madawgz 05-04-2006 02:17 PM

if your going to be working with video or graphics like photoshop use a mac

for anything else, use a PC :)

I said 10-30% - and feel free to compare just about any mac computer/part/accessory with any pc computer/part/accessory for reference, bro.

For what it's worth, I totally agree that you get what you pay for with Macs - as I said - especially if you're looking for a video/graphical production workhorse... they're the shiz-nit.

Hard to miss the sarcasm - but I'm thinking you're just not understanding my point: It's not a question of graphical quality, but rather of game avilability... for every game available on Mac, there's probably 30 or more available on PC.

Not sure why my post caused you to get defensive about Macs, man - I have all the respect in the world for them.

Ninja Frank 05-04-2006 02:50 PM

They're both the same and do the same thing. Saying that macs are better for design is bullshit, they run photoshop just the same. That might have been true in like 1995 but not anymore.

I use both and Mac OS X is a lot nicer and easier to use than Windows and you dont have to worry about viruses and all that bullshit. If you like to play games at all get a PC.

I use my mac to do all my work (photoshop, dreamweaver, microsoft office, etc) . All these programs are identical on the mac and the PC.

I use my PC to play a lot of games and test the sites that i build.

There really is no difference other than how the operating system works.

So i'd say Mac's have the edge in that respect. If its about price PC's have the edge since you can build one yourself. But if you compare a high end dell to a high end mac its about the same price.

:)

Just_Dave 05-04-2006 02:52 PM

i don't play any games on my comp at all

Just_Dave 05-04-2006 02:58 PM

ok what mac should i get now

swedguy 05-04-2006 03:02 PM

I switched to Mac (MacBook Pro) some months ago and I doubt I will ever switch back to Windows. But I use Parallels VM (it's fucking briliant) to run XP too, just so I can get Stats Remote.
