Which are the best cities to shoot in north america?
 

Apart of anything near L.A.

I'm trying to figure out good cities for filming in. Places were there is very little trouble to find talent.

I've considered Montreal but it looks like a nightmare because the few agents there want to keep the prices high and charge a percentage of what I pay the girls. (I have a philosphy of negotiating out privately with each girl.)

I looked at Toronto but the 1 bukakake I tried to film there was a disaster. 1 man showed up from the 50 promised. (I was aming for 10)

I was considering Chicago and Vancouver BC.
Any other places I should be looking into?

If you're looking to shoot BDSM (I'm assuming that from the photo in your sig) you should check out the Tampa Bay area of Florida. There are several major producers there, and lots of local ladies who you might be interested in working with.

Any place where there isnt a lot of other people shooting.

Actually I don't film that stuff at all. I'm a semi retired pornstar turned video producer. I did that photo in my sig with Ken Marcus. Personally I'm really not into BDSM and wouldn't be able to make a decent product.

I've found it best in the city I'm in, close to Toronto. Any place with lots of strip joints. Lots of women looking for money/independant deals. Goodluck.

i dont think theres any best place to shoot in north america. it's illegal in every state to shoot someone.... so perhaps try somewhere else

IMO a bad "philosphy". Sounds to me more like you're hustling them with "package deals" - but again, this is my opinion. I wouldn't really know.

I will say one thing - I was never much of a fan of agent fees, but now I'm all for them...when a model isn't cooperating, it's so much easier to just call her agent than to try and deal with it yourself. It doesn't happen much on my sets, but when it does, it's worth every penny to call an agent.

And if the agent is working his/her ass off to get the model work, then they deserve the 15% (or so) they get from the girl.

I pay an agent a FLAT fee.
He gets the same amount regardless of what negotiations I make with the girl.

Because you see, unless the percentage is charged to the talent. It's a conflict of interest. As a business woman I am looking to cut my costs at every available chance. So yes, I am trying to get the girl for as cheap as possible. It's damn hard to do that if the guy brining the girl stands to make more too.

And speaking as former pornstar. NO snatch or colon is worth some of the rates a few people try to charge.

But on that note, most of the time I don't negotiate. I say what I want, how it pays. And the girl can take it or leave it.

I go where the money is.
And that can be Canada, Mexico, Botswana, Mars, etc.

I always live in my studio. Can't see a reason to spend money on two places. For me I think I could go back to L.A. but it's like pulling teeth with da spouse. For him, his idea of paradise is places like Iceland or France in the winter. IE: Dark, depressive and must have "archetecture" and "character."

I would like to beat him with a baguette some days. But he earns about 70% of the household income doing his "indy-art-crap films." (Too many hours inputed if you ask me.)

We do well in the NY/NJ area, not a ton of good shooters and talent rates are cheaper on this coast. Problem is there are no agencys out here to book girls so you have to find them all yourself. If your ever in the area to shoot hit me up i have a large studio to rent

You want to find talent easily but you don't wanna go through agents ? it won'T be easier in one city then another.

You can always deal with agents... in mtl. You just gotta give them your business and guarantee them a couple of shots and they'll give you better deals.

MTL is cheaper then LA and lots of other places still

I recoommand you hit Daniel from eromodels in montreal... he's great. All of his girls have training in front of hte camera, they know how to look at it and act... they have good attitutdes and act very profetionally... he's more then just a normal agent ;)

Well I used to run ads in the local newspapers. But you kind of have to be careful about what you say in it. Nude Figure modeling usually works and networking the men that want a shot porn is pretty good too. (Just tell them to bring you a girl)

I give them their $100. And that's a flat rate regardless of what price I get the girl for.

So if I use one of their girls, I have no problems paying them.

Any percentage cuts they get should be from the girl. Not ME! Because if I got to deal with that crap I can just hope on a plane, go to Moscow, Philipeans, etc, etc, etc.

It would just be nice to settle down in one place and film. Not have to worry about airports, hotels, etc.

for hardcore - LA is the easiest because it has the largest talent pool - then South Florida and Montreal. And Phoenix seems to be growing as a hardcore porn production center. That's about it.

I love Montreal... I truely do.
For 4 years I lived near the Préfontaine métro.

It's an AWSOME town for escorting. A girl never has to even place an ad and she can grab $200 to $300 an hour between 9am and Noon. Most other places you have to be running around with drunks at 3 am to get that.

But the last time I was in the city(1 Year ago)

The talent was niether abundant nor all that reasonable.
And when I have to produce, I shooting sometimes 2 gonzos every day for 2 or 3 months non stop.

My fear is if I manged to talk my husband into stepping foot on Canadian soil. I would run out of girls in a week.

Oddly enough I shot two feature adult prods in France and had not a single problem ... found the talent in france to be very Professional, Hot video followed all my sex capades for they're saturday night show ... HAd some great friends with the talent I shot with .. You've got some real gems there .. like Phil Holiday, P. I do not know on the U.S. as a whole, but depending on what you are shooting, I would say find a college town.

I do not shoot hardcore, nor M/F, but we do mostly 'fetish' things. We have more than enough girls contacting us to keep us busy, and we can't even get them all in within a given month!

We do not do the newspaper though. Business partner used to use his connections at strip clubs and so on before I took over the recruiting. I find a lot of them from online networking groups, and word of mouth spread it from there. It was a rough go at the beginning, but after we picked up some decent one's, and they heard about the 'referral fee' then they started doing a lot of the recruiting themselves. Bringing us more girls so we did not have to be as active is promoting, or recruiting.

Now it's on auto-pilot. I get plenty who contact me weekly, and am at the point we can turn away those just looking for money, and do not have an image that will sell, or not 100% down with what we do.

If you are in a college town, if you know what you are doing, and how to recruit, you will have more than enough hunnies contacting you all the time.

As for agents, and such. I do not deal with them. I have had them contact me any number of times, and people who want to be the middle man, or whatever. We stick to the business model, no matter how hot the girl is. This is what we do, and what we pay. Period. If they don't like it, keep steppin.

We have budgets, and we are not going to blow them for some girl who's marginally better looking dealing with agents, and fees. Fuck that!
