Should you own a Hummer if you don't go offroad?

What benefit is there to having a Hummer if you do not go offroading or over rugged terrain?

MetaMan 08-29-2005 09:24 PM

so i can run your Hummer hater ass right the fuck over!

BEETCH.

DaddyHalbucks 08-29-2005 09:25 PM

Could be good as a moving billboard. They do attract alot of attention.

But only for urban/ suburban driving or commuting? NO, THANKS!

pussyluver 08-29-2005 09:25 PM

No - They Suck

really just cargo space ... passenger space ... if your not going off road then throw a nice pair of rims on it and drop it an inch or 2 ... nice ride ...not worth the money in my opinion but nice ... i would get a Denali before the h2

wedouglas 08-29-2005 09:26 PM

I'm not a Hummer hater, but they just don't make sense for driving on the highway or in any urban area.

Sly 08-29-2005 09:26 PM

Uh... maybe because the owner likes Hummers?

Why would you tell someone what they can or can't buy? That makes no sense.

"No BMW for you! You aren't cool enough!"

Have you ever driven one? They are complete luxury as far as I'm concerned. Regardless if you go off road or not, they're nice to drive. :2 cents:

frankfortuna 08-29-2005 09:26 PM

Personally, I'm 6'7" and can't fit well into smaller cars. I also tow, but I didn't want to get a Tahoe or Suburban.

Veterans Day 08-29-2005 09:28 PM

I tow a 38ft boat weekly, I am 6'6" although I dont drive a hummer, but an F350 Dually that gets 10 mpg :1orglaugh

Hummer doesn't carry a status symbol anywhere near Mercedes or any other luxury company (luxury to americans atleast). Why not get a G class if you want something kind of big but flashy?

The F350 is a sweet towing rig.

Nothing I have driven compares, 12.5k on the bumper or 17k on the fifth wheel, and my boat is a fucking hogggggggggg. I wouldn't own anything less now. :)

Hummers say bad ass or "active". Luxury cars say nice job, cares about image, etc.

H1 Hummer says badass, H2 says I couldn't afford an H1 or I really dont need to be driving this.

In fact, I'd say H2 says cares more about image than a BMW or MB

That is one massive boat.

Sly 08-29-2005 09:34 PM

I don't think there's any car hated as much as the H2. I don't get it. I like them.

BradShaw 08-29-2005 09:36 PM

H2, is a joke. I would be embarrased to take that offroad.

I had an H1, took it off road a few times.

So I assume using your logic, one could say the same about Japanese luxury car owners? I guess you couldn't afford a German car, eh?

It's becaue they aren't neccessary. Their niche is way larger than it should be.

I have nothing against the vehicle itself, but I don't think people should drive it in suburban areas. There is not one good arguement you can make to jusify driving it in suburban areas.

It gets bad MPG, it's expensive, other cars that have it's cargo space are way cheaper.

Hummer started off as an all terrain vehicle. It wasn't meant for driving the kids around. Van's and SUV's were made for that.

wild 08-29-2005 09:40 PM

How Much are Hummers in the US ?

candyflip 08-29-2005 09:42 PM

Don't forget the Baby Hummer - H3

Nah, your crossing brand barriers. I'm talking about models.

One can argue that the top of the line RL is nicer than a simiar MB or BMW. One can't argue that the TL is more luxurious than the RL.

They aren't necessary? Neither are $200 designer jeans. So what.

The only "good" argument needed is: people want them!

You work hard. You make the money. You buy products you WANT.

Are $150k cars necessary? No. So why do people buy them? Because they want them.

By the way, low end BMW's and Mercedes suck. Only wankers that can't afford the high end models buy them in hopes of looking "cool".

Babagirls 08-29-2005 09:50 PM

i'd never buy one. i have a hard enough time driving the boyfriends truck lol

Gabriel 08-29-2005 09:52 PM

Just say NO to big rims.

Everyone online likes to dog hummers but in real life they all want rides.. Go figure.. I bought my h2 for the lux and space.. The h2 is both bigger inside and nicer than the h1.. So unless you work on a farm or are just into offroading ginormous trails forget the h1. I love my h2. I dont offroad it at all. Plus it pisses off the tree huggers and thats fun.

This was mine 1 week after i got it. I have no new pics dont know why:

I guess my problem with them is that you can by more luxurious cars for less money that are better made, more efficient, and will do exacly the same thing you will do in your Hummer.

People are paying for something that they won't use to it's full potential. Why not get a Luxury SUV? Not like you need the towing power of the H2 or it's offroading abilities if you just drive to work and pick your kids up from school.

Thats a 2004 in the pic, theres differences.

I deliver shit all the time to my local customers and the H2 is so much cooler than a cargo van. :2 cents:

Sorry, you are mistaken, I bought it in November of 2004, it's definitely a 2005. It has the upgraded black interior, which wasn't even an option in 2004.

And thats exactly what I don't have a problem with. If you need something it offers, thats fine.

My problem is with the people who buy it for the sake of owning a Hummer. You gotta agree that tons of Hummer owners buy them to look cool, not because they need a Hummer.

I have no problem with people who use/buy lavish thing as long as they make good use of them.
