Summer slowdown? How are the sales lately?

My sales are suckin nowadays (very shitty ratios). Anyone else is in the same situation? :Oh crap

Here we go again. There IS NO SUMMER SLOWDOWN! I wish everybody would stop using that word.

But by your logic: You have a summer slowdown because the ratios are bad??? What the fuck does that have to do with the summer? A loss of traffic would be more understandable but bad ratios??

Well, July was great for me and so is August .. I summer slowdown exist IMHO but it's not that dramatic as some people say :2 cents:

It occurs, in a wide variety of industries including online sales.

To think it doesn't shows what little experience you have in your short time on this planet.

Businesses experience many peaks and valleys throughout the year, and for a lot of businesses summer is one of those valleys due to the fact that people are travelling, for other businesses sales pick up due to the fact that people are travelling..but for the guy running the Inn at the hot vacation spot to say "there is no summer slow down," would be someone who is basing that opinion only on his results. Which would of course be a small sample.

For many online businesses people definitely see a peak in sales in the winter.

The pattern for many ebayers *because this was discusses ad nauseum on their boards as well over the years* was summer slow, fall would pick up, Christmas would be normal *surprisingly* and business would actually be best from January through Spring.

A lot of this was contributed to the fact that many families recieved computers for Christmas, and for many others the cold winters would keep them indoors doing a lot of surfing.

This next part is just my opinion.
Now, as high speed internet reaches many more homes, and more and more people have computers in their homes we may see less of an impact on sales due to the fact that because it's summer / vacation time here, it is not elsewhere.

Think about this logically man.

In the US it is summer. August in the past was one of the biggest travel months for vacationers because school used to start at the end of the month, or beginning of September.

However things have changed over the years. Each year they seemed to start school earlier.

During my school years it was after 9/1. My nieces started seeing last week of August, now it's pushed up to the middle of August..in fact a lot of schools started this week.

Now what has changed?

Less and less people are travelling in August, so the big push might now be in July.

Either way, it's still summer vacation for a lot of people so it stands to reason that those $'s are being spent elsewhere...which is why people see a summer slow down in both brick and mortar businesses and online businesses.

Dude, if you read the summer slowdown posts its 95% from people saying their ratios have gone to shit. You will see these posts any time of year. And ratios have nothing to do with a summer slowdown. Total bullshit. It would mean there are as many surfers as usual they just suddenly stopped signing up. Low traffic yes i would call that summer slowdown but i have yet to see a post where someone mentions summer slowdown and then mentions low traffic. No, its always about ratios.

I suppose it's probably that in certain commercial verticals that business could slow down as people's habits change. I can't say that I've seen that over here, or in any other business that I've worked, entertainment or not.

If you're about to experience a slowdown it's most likely time for a promotion or a shift in marketing and advertising to give distracted customers a compelling reason to stay or to come back at a time where they may have their attention diverte elsewhere.

heh, this summer has rocked for me. I set my all time high in sales/rebills during the summer and this month looks kickass too.

i dont believe in summer slow down..
that is, more specifically, the month will end about average net. There is just much more inconsistancy. Instead of steady days througout the month there higher peaks and lower valleys. Must be because of vacations. Most of the western world takes vacations in late july early, mid aug. But it all evens out to a net increase...

Actually this summer has been better than some, but I do believe worse ratios can easily happen in the summertime.

Less hours indoors means someone is willing to just snap off to all the free porn and not knowing what they'll be doing on the weekend, they aren't willing to commit to a paid membership.

In the winter, while they may have things to do still, at 2am chances are they will be at home and able to take full advantage of what they paid for.

When you consider that traffic generally peaks during working hours Monday to Friday, not a lot of people pay for their membership and drop their pants in the office. Instead they're buying for what they think they'll use over the next few days.

It's much easier to know what you'll be doing at 2 in the morning in the winter months than in the summer months.
