war of the worlds

I just saw that movie, i have never seen anything dumber. I want 90 minutes of my life back. correction, with the commercials in the beginning it's over 2 hours :(

Serge Litehead 07-03-2005 08:18 PM

spectacular effects,
week on the plot,
scene in the last house/basement got boring,
very fast "victory" with no real power advantage against aliens - nature did everything.

imageman 07-03-2005 08:55 PM

I was'nt too bad

Quite good effects the Batman film was much better IMHO

Glad I saw Batman instead.

sniperwolf 07-03-2005 09:03 PM

spoiler...okay maybe I'm sot suppose to watch that film

webcrawler 07-03-2005 09:13 PM

I'd still give it a try.

KRL 07-03-2005 09:16 PM

I'll repeat my review on this thread to save some folks their money and time.

OK, just got back from War of the Worlds.

Overall, I think that was the worst movie Spielberg has ever made. What a waste of 2 hours.

The screenplay was a total botch job. The storyline was utterly ridiculous and choppy.

Acting sucked. That little girl should win the Oscar for Most Annoying STFU Kid in a Film. God damn shut up already with the canned lines.

This was Tom Cruise at the level of time to hustle anonther $20 Mil instead of being an actor. A true actor would never have taken this role after reading the screenplay for it.

The special effects were epic, but overkill in so many scenes.

The military in this movie was completely hookie.

There were lots of weird characters in this film. A lot of dark meaning also to many scenes which I think most people won't get unless you were looking behind the lines and scenes.

The ending was as stupid as they come and a total sputtering let down.

One of the main problems the film lacked a hero. Cruise was a putz, a divorced loser who was trying to win respect from his nerd son, who was also terribly cast, and trying to get his kids through the ordeal.

There was no bad guy in the film, just a bunch of aliens you'll swear you've seen before in some other sci-fi film and I bet anything they were re-used ones.

I rate this move a big fat ZERO on a 1 to 10.

Rob 07-03-2005 09:47 PM

It really sucked.

xxxice 07-03-2005 09:53 PM

It was fun to watch :thumbsup

at least land of the dead is 18a, has some bloodshed

crockett 07-04-2005 04:00 PM

Ok I'll break the bad streak here and say I liked it. I almost didn't go check it out after I read this post.

However I went and check it out anyway. Overall I thought it was pretty good, keeps yea on the edge of your seat if nothing else. I will say the ending was a little weak.

I don't think there was supposed to be a hero in the movie, I think the basic plot of the movie was the guy trying to save his kids.

SomeCreep 07-04-2005 04:03 PM

War of the worlds was an average film. I thought the story got slow at times. The ending was stupid.

solonline 07-04-2005 04:33 PM

shame to read bad reviews - was looking forward to watching it.

Russian 07-04-2005 04:34 PM

What did you expect, stupid fucks? I'm shure you did not read the original book, huh?

s9ann0 07-04-2005 04:43 PM

i thougth it was ok tyou can't expect much out of the ordinary hollywood bs with Tom Cruise in it

tungsten 07-04-2005 04:49 PM

i will still go see it tonight

zentz 07-04-2005 05:37 PM

stop the crap, its a good movie

alec 07-04-2005 06:54 PM

Was it really $100 million on its opening week? I've seen not really that exciting.

Bob_cougar 07-04-2005 09:05 PM

the movie was disastrous thanks to TOM CRUISE's publicity stunts.

Sounds like you guys are all brainwashed into wanting a "typical " Hollywood
product. You're not happy unless there is a "HERO" with "angelic children" and
a warm fuzzy ending to the film.

I liked War of the Worlds.
It surely wasn't as cute as ET :repuke

"War of the Worlds" was a dark and realistic depiction of an instant horrorific holocaust. Cruse played a regular and simple kind of guy, with spoiled fucked up kids.

Great acting ? No.

Spielberg's fantasy films overshadow any actor. And of course Cruse took the part for the money, wouldn't you?
"Shindlers List" has been the only Spielberg film that allowed actors to actually act.

"War of the Worlds" keeps you on the edge of your seat like a rollercoaster, then the holocaust suddenly ends as it began, you're left sitting there in your seat sharing the same thoughts as Tom Cruse's character "Ray",,
F.U.C.K. !! Now what?

The film was intended to shock you, not fill you full of "warmth and hope" as the end of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind".

Sounds like the film shocked alot of you for the simple fact it didn't look like, or end like, anything Spielberg has ever done.
He should get credit for that alone.

hey you gave your opinon and I gave mine.. If you hated it so bad why did you even wait for the ending?

d_train 07-05-2005 05:00 AM

major disappointment considering its spielberg...batman begins is better except for katie holmes acting...which is amateur...

hova 07-05-2005 05:03 AM

I agree with KRL

Code_Havoc 07-05-2005 07:10 AM

Listen to the old radio broadcast that was done of War of the Worlds, during the Red Scare if I remember correctly. It's actually pretty good.

HpicAnn 07-05-2005 08:04 AM

split_joel 07-05-2005 08:42 AM
