I am quitting... that's it

I'm off the fast food. No more McDonalds for me.
I'm also off soda (or pop)... especially Coca Cola.

Next comes smoking... but I really have to formulate a plan for that one. I'm such an addict. But one step at a time I guess.

My wife bought me a 2L bottle the other day and I tried it. I took one sip and thought it tasted like shit. haha... so that one won't be tough to break. I'm on a cranberry juice kick right now. And water.. lot's of water.

Ogix 06-27-2005 07:02 AM

beta-tester 06-27-2005 07:05 AM

why you're quitting fast food and coca cola ?
I think smarter would be to quit smoking at first :thumbsup

Sosa 06-27-2005 07:05 AM

dready 06-27-2005 07:07 AM

Did you just read 'Fast Food Nation' or watch 'Super Size Me' or something?

pr0 06-27-2005 07:11 AM

pr0's doctor approved get off ciggs plan

hit up an online pharmacy & get 30 x2mg or 60x 1mg, & a pill cutter\

serious, regiment a 2mg x3 for first 3days (take off work...will knock you da fuck out)

1mg for 1-2 weeks x3

.5mg x3 for the rest of the month

then .25mg 1x a day or as needed the next month....& your off

it relieves anxiety which are the major causes behind smokers flipping out, yelling at loved ones & headed back to the supermarket for a carton of malboros

hooked on xanax worked for me! been smoke free for 6 months...i still sneak one in at the bar if i feel like i need a drink from time to time (since i quit drinking too)

and coming off the xanax is not a problem so long as you taper it down exactly like i prescribed...this came direct from a doctor

Adultnet 06-27-2005 07:13 AM

Good luck this won't be easy ... :)

pr0 06-27-2005 07:13 AM

and trust me, when you got alrpzolam in your system you can pass up anything....& nothing bothers you

its like putting up a "fuck you" shield...impervious to anything

they give a similar medication "valium or diazepam" to alchoholics to get off liquir, its not widely accepted, but in suburbia doctors hand them out like flapjacks

TheSaint 06-27-2005 07:23 AM

You don't have to quit Macdonalds. You know that movie "Supersize Me"? Its all bullshit; the guys budy is trying to sue McDonalds or something. A girl made the same movie last week (it was on cnn) only she didn't gain weight, she lost weight eating MacDonalds 3X a day.

Its all about portion control and choices. If you get a quarter pounder or a chicken sandwich (without the gobs of mayo) and a SMALL fries and a diet coke, its not a big lunch, calorie wise.

They guy in the movie superisized everything like a maniac; of course he got fat.

howard 06-27-2005 07:25 AM

Hey chris---for 15 years all I drink is water or gatorade--maybe 1 soda a week. I buy the big bottles of gatordade and put ice cubes in it to and it dilutes it (so its less calories and carbs). I love it and its not to sweet and very healthy..

sickkittens 06-27-2005 07:27 AM

I quit fast food about 5 years ago. :thumbsup

i don't even buy the supersize stuff, if you exercise you won't gain weight

yea your cholesterol levels are gonna blow up like hiroshima

MindyBlingBucks 06-27-2005 07:29 AM

YAY for no more fast food!! You'll end up feeling so much better. Good luck quitting smoking!! :thumbsup

Evil Chris 06-27-2005 07:38 AM

Thanks for the encouragement everyone... appreciate that.

Yeah I did see Supersize me, but that isn't really a contributing reason for quitting fast food. I take a movie like that with a grain of salt. Obviously a burger and fries isn't as good for you a fruit, veggies, and the like. I guess I've just decided to eat healthier.

Pro... xanax remedy?? No thanks dude... I don't want to add another addiction to my body.

Vitasoy 06-27-2005 07:41 AM

Nice.. it's for the better. :)

jacked 06-27-2005 07:43 AM

good luck man you'll be craving a big mac in no time lol

canplayer 06-27-2005 07:45 AM

i've always wondered, do smokers know how bad they smell? Do they know how awful their clothes smell. I was going to say, just take a whiff of your clothes and then you'll never want to smoke again but I think they get used to reaking so they can't smell it.

tony286 06-27-2005 07:47 AM

good for you,one day at a time

LittleSassy 06-27-2005 07:47 AM

goodluck quitting on smokes...:pimp

Good for you.

Soda is one of the worst things you can ingest....

And, fast food, for that matter.

Eight weeks ago, I joined a gym, hired a trainer to make sure I'd go to the gym and really started eating healthier. I feel better. While I have a long way to go, it's a long term, lifetime plan.....a life I'd like to keep for a while and not feel like death warmed over every day.

BillyHoe 06-27-2005 07:49 AM

Good Luck, I gave up McDonalds and cut down 3/4 of the soda I drink, and I feel alot better about it. The first two weeks are the hardest though, I felt sick. I guess it's all the crap they put in fast food.

pxxx 06-27-2005 07:53 AM

Soda can be addictive too. I find it hard to go without drinking soda, i dont smoke or any of that other stuff, but i drink about 3 cups of water a week :(. I know it is bad, but i can't stop drinking soda. Btw, I am NOT some fat webmaster sitting behind a desk, i am actually fit, but i know i am hurting my insides with all that soda.

pradaboy 06-27-2005 07:56 AM

Good for you Chris, the only things I drink are water (lots of it), Gatorade when working out and sometimes a cup of green tea in the evening. Works wonders really.

Tom_PM 06-27-2005 08:00 AM

Just replace the bad habit with a good one. ie: everytime you want a smoke, stand up and lift a weight until your arms are tired. Stay busy.
Fast food is simple to not eat. It's simply cheaper to buy real food and cook it lol. Tastes better too.

Trax 06-27-2005 08:03 AM

I cut down my fast food by 90%
same goes for soda... a sprite every here and there is ok but not more
im a water fan now

loverboy 06-27-2005 08:06 AM

you got to enjoy life more, there is something better out there than McDonalds or sodas

:smokin

KRL 06-27-2005 08:10 AM

Now I'm craving those fricking delicious fries. LOL

nope they don't smell a thing, I had no clue when I used to smoke, now that I've quit Im amazed how bad smokers really smell.

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 06-27-2005 08:39 AM

Do you want to be known as a quitter for the rest of your life?

I remember what Coach told me, "Winners never quit, and Quitters never win."

Congrats on quitting soda. I guess that the first 10 or so pounds of my 50 that I've lost so far was from cutting soda. I dropped it for Lent and never picked it back up.

I also have cut out my regular fast food habits. I've had some chicken stuff here and there at fast food, but mostly I'm doing Subway now. My motivation is to be in better shape to learn Kempo, not to lose weight. But I admit I've been psyched about my weightloss and that has been a secondary motivator for me.

This weekend I bought some new t-shirts and sure enough, I'm officially down one shirt size. I've lost 8+ inches off my waist. I've never felt better.

Congrats on taking the first step. A great man once said the longest journey begins with the first step.

cashengine 06-27-2005 09:06 AM

i just quit crack...my dental bills were outrageous...
