xxxregistry banner ad on GFY
Since we are all (most of us) ranting and raving in agreement about how much .xxx sucks, I am a bit shocked to see a banner add on this site for xxxregistry.org telling me I can pre-register my .xxx domain name.
Do the people running this site feel comfortable making money from .xxx in this way? If I came late to the party and already missed this discussion, sorry - please point me to the link, I'd love to read what was said. |
I thought the same thing. But if I could buy them now, I don't believe in the .xxx, but I would get mine now.
Like I said, I don't believe in it. |
'the link' should read 'the links' as it's been discussed a few times.
You're not alone in how you feel about it, that's for sure. |

Okay i will play devils advocate here.
First there are twenty more threads but... Tell me why is .xxx so bad and why does it suck. Its only a domain extention. How can it hurt you so bad. |

simple answer: segregation into a TLD which can be filtered by ISPs.
I would hope more people would think twice before supporting .xxx in ANY way. We need some sort of Solidarity to get some muscle here. I won't be buying any .xxx extensions or anything else that has to do with the domain. |

Stay out of business threads go post somewhere else. Idiot. I am curious to see why he sees .xxx as a bad thing, where there will never be a law forcing adult sites on .xxx domains and we DONT HAVE TO BUY THEM. |
xxxregistry was a scam no ?

anykind of grouping for the adult industry is bad. centralized targets are never a good thing to have. :warning |
I'm not going to spend one penny on this .xxx shit and showing me that banner is a waste of advertising dollars for whoever paid for it. I hope more webmasters feel the same way.

Leave the business discussion to those actually in the business. |
anyone tried to get mail into hotmail, aol, or earthlink? If .xxx goes through it will be just as hard to get your site to load in their browsers

There wont be a rush to buy .xxx domains because we will have no use for them. Just like any other shitty .cc or tld that isnt .com |

FYI - .xxx will cost $70 per domain yes, surely spammers will use it :1orglaugh |

"no rush" what you have to understand half the people who are saying that they will not rush to buy is because they hope to detour others from doing so. watch when the extension drops their will be a few major people who own the top singleword names. the internet is limitless and will not stop, do you not think eventually people will associate porn with a .xxx extension? :1orglaugh :1orglaugh |

xxx.xxx porn.xxx and all the other type-in names. But everyone said the exact same thing when the dot.in (.in) domains dropped and people rushed out to buy them. And .in still hasnt hit. And i doubt that people will associate porn with .xxx Do they use .org when they know that they are seraching for an organization. Do they use .info when they are seraching for information. Do they use .us when they search for a Us based company. No. |

Pre-registrations are kind of legit scams. I thought this forum had enough revenues not to allow these kind of advertisements.

if you do not think the new extension should matter i think you need to find a new thread. |

ONLY if we are forced to start using .xxx for anything adult related. Anyone who volunteers to change all thier sites and everything to .xxx is an idiot. |
and if it was anything else i can tell you someone from the company behind this would had responded so far.

An adult based extention would be bad if we have to match the type of site to the domain. I.E All us based sites need a .us domain, all information based sites need .info ....etc Which will never happen. So .xxx is just another extention. Buy it if you will. |

You can't be serious.... If you really believe that after the new .xxx goes live a "Great New Bill" to protect children won't be soon to follow you haven't been paying attention to the new agenda.. .xxx is far from the bullshit of .info, .biz etc. and at $70 per domain doesn't it seem funny adult is being overcharged from the very start? :Oh crap :disgust |

Money talks... You seriously think Lens is gonna miss out on $$$ over standing up for whats right? :)

Yeah -- it's one thing to be forced onto .XXX -- which would make a "ghetto" of Adult, and expose us to being "cut-off" from the Legitimate Internet at any moment.
But, the truth is, it looks like .XXX is going to at least exist -- that doesn't bother me, so long as nobody is telling me I have to go live there. I think we had to say "BAD, BAD, BAD .XXX" to defeat a compulsory evacuation of Adult to that TLD. But, remove that threat, and what's left but some form of opportunity, which you mau decide is attractive to you or not. BTW, there's another pre-registry available for anyone who doesn't want to patronize that ICM-sanctioned one -- www.dotxxxregistry.com -- fyi 2HP |
