And there are other things to consider. When the .XXX TLD launches, there's going to be global-scale marketing -- PR from the news coverage and whatever ICM may do. That will be free type-in eyeballs for anyone who's got a site there. When was the last time you saw an article about the Adult Biz in the Wall Street Journal -- :winkwink: Another point is that sites operating in .XXXLand will be (if there's any official support for it from the Federal government) in position to receive whatever concessions are granted to encourage Adult companies to go there. Those would be comparable to the tax breaks or cheaper construction permits that are offered by local government when they want to give an economic boost to certain parts of a city. We've been focused on the worst case scenario of .XXX as a place of exile for Adult, as a ghetto -- but it could become the Web's official Red Light District. 2HP |

They quickly jump on the bandwagon of .xxx going to fuck us all over. You have to lead a sad sorry life to be sacred by a domain extention. |
Alex - wrong boy .xxx is going to fuck me as much as 2257 will :thumbsup
Do I think its bad for the Industry as a whole? Hell yeah, if you cant see why well...too bad |
I don't see XXX having much of an effect on my business model. My customers WANT porn. Sure, a few religious isps will block .XXX, and some will start offering a "family" filter. But if you think that most isps in countries other than China will block xxx, frankly you are clueless. Half the people that signup for the Internet look for porn first, you think they are going with an Isp that blocks that? Get Real. Yeah, xxx will make it easier for business to block porn, but the big ones do that already. We have firewall subscriptions to porn blocking filters in all my mainstream businesses blocking porn, so do most companies.
Obviously not too many gfyers are able to breed, or you would know that exposing children to porn is a real problem. Don't give me that "net-nanny" shit, IT DOESN"T WORK. I tried that crap on my own kids and a LOT of porn could still be downloaded. The real loosers in xxx, if it ever becomes mandatory (otherwise its meaningless) are people that own big ticket domain names now. I don't own sex.com, so I guess I am not worried. By the way, its hard to see how it could EVER become mandatory, and thus will remain meaningless. Since all the big name domain names are going to be snapped up by speculators on opening day, and not acquired by the people who own the .coms, it would provde impossible to later tell you you have to go to .xxx - since your name has long been taken. As usual a bunch of people worrying about nothing. :2 cents: |

Alot of dumb ass industry leaders in the world to decide this coupled with insane politicians. Its a beautiful thing for everyone while on the road with good intentions. Fuck it though. .xxx is inevitable. I will capitalise on it even though it is more evil than any of you folks around here have any idea of. .xxx is not just a nail in the industry coffin. This nail is going to really hurt. |
Whoooooosh No one gets it.

I'm gonna run right out and buy as many .xxx domains as I possibly can... then when adult web masters HAVE to buy them because it's the law, I'll make a shitpot of money selling them to the highest bidder... NOT! |
I can't believe I actually BEAT WOJ!!!!

Cool.. pix...

http://www.ialien.com/free.jpg Game set and match. Adult will be contained to .xxx within the first year. I am taking bets. |
But I doubt any of you will call it censorship, ya will think of something else to call it as an excuse.

I wont have a choice but to capitalise on it.
The guys that thought of it insured that fact. No money for industry defense. Money for .xxx registrations goes to various groups whose sol purpose is to clip adult under the guise of Protecting the children. Politicians will move in on us like sharks in a blood pool. ISP's will begin blocking access. Ya can bet Credit companies will make "Adjustments"... If there is an internet Armageddon, this is one of the fucken horsemen. |
I hope the people that thought of it are pleased with themselves.
Pleased at the fact this shit is going to ravage the adult internet at the very core from Commerce to Law to Politically induced censorship. |

You are an idiot if the only point you can make is a circular statement. ".xxx is bad for the industry because .xxx is bad." That is your only point. Sad. |
I think that it will be used against us, and I fear that it will become illegal to have a .com after the .xxx is released. I think that is the over all goal of the govenrment on this one.
|
Becoming mandatory? That's the whole point. Let me quote from the AVN article:
http://www.avnonline.com/index.php?P...tent_ID=231312 "I think the executive director is going to be a Washington, D.C., lobbyist type. It probably won?t be somebody from the adult industry." Guess what that lobbyist is there to do... .xxx as another TLD domain = useless .xxx under a mandatory migration = the end of the industry as we know it |
How much do you think that Sex.xxx would go for?
Who will be the lucky guy to buy it? |
