I propose there be bannings from industry(webmaster) events
I don't get it... you get out of control on a message board, you get banned.
You drink and drive, you lose your license. So if someone gets drunk and gets out of control at an industry event, I propose that they be banned from future events... either permanently or temporarily.... like a year (as with losing a driver's license). It's not fair that someone can do what has happened with Arika, Vanilla and the other girls, and the guy just goes back to work and then the next convention as if nothing happened.... all the while saying "hey, I was drunk... I can't be held responsible." If you did that same thing at a non-porn related trade show or convention, you'd be walking out in cuffs, much less kicked out, much less banned from the next one. What do we do? "Hey, it's porn... just because a woman is naked on her website, doesn't mean you should grope her... bad!" That just doesn't cut it. Now Arika, as well as other girls need to go to the next show and wonder.... will it happen here too? Well, they can't be spared from all of the creeps, but perhaps they should be spared from having to see the creep that did it last time. Thoughts? |

it could never be just.... who makes the final decision?

Its important that people like that gets excluded from the industry and the partys - and it starts TODAY!!!!!! Its a industry get-together, not a surfer paradise .
Things like this should be "invitations only |
Amen, good post.. but who would enforce the bans?

Any suggestions as to who would be banned first????
|
i guess if you arent from a big company they dont care. they have nothing to lose.
i am sure you wont see people from topbucks making an ass out of themselves at a sponsored event :) |
yeah but who will control these things... the porn police?

This kind of thing is not impossible people. <--- See my location? Try to visit that place with me. Instead of going "yeah, but who will do it?" try to be pro-active. Come up with ideas on your own. Don't ask others to do your thinking for you, or just dismiss an idea because there might be a hurdle that you're unwilling to put much thought into. My fortune cookie last week said "Those who follow crowds will never be followed by a crowd." I agree.... take control, come up with some good ideas, present them and make something work for the benefit of everyone.... Asking "but who will lead us?" is not going to get you or anyone else anywhere. |
im against blacklists

I'm already banned. I grabbed Sleazy's ass.

why not hire security to whip peoples asses if they get out of line. its not hard to write down names on paper/pc and keep an eye on shit for future events. if their name pops up fuck em. no soup for you.

For example, in Arika's thread, they even stated that the creep followed them up to Aaron's hotel room uninvited. Security wouldn't have been there. If he was banned from the show entirely though, then that would have prevented him from doing that. Security would just be like a bouncer at a club.... you get booted, just get up and go to the next club. That doesn't help the next club. |

but when you set the price of conventions that high, you also lose a lot of people that just don't think it is worth $300....yeah, the place is pretty and has wireless...but if you wanna raise something, raise the costs for sponsors to participate and promote their shit, that is what mainstream conventions do |
Honestly I don't know why companies just send anyone and everyone to these events. This isn't the first time someone has made a complete an utter fool of themselves, been abusive to others, destructive to property, etc. One would think that a group of people who are intending to do business would at least screen the people they have representing their corporate image in public. Sure there's partying etc at shows, but one would most certainly hope that a group of ADULTS could ACT like adults, at least for the most part. And people wonder why I'm not jumping up and down to go to every show I see... The more I see this kind of bullshit at shows, the less and less I want to go there to deal with it firsthand.

Seriously, while I DO agree with Stuart on this I must say that for the most part, these ARE isolated incidents. We just hear about them more. That doesn't make it any less traumatic for the models or ladies in question, but I hate to see people sit here and say they'll never go to an industry event BECAUSE of this stuff. I've NEVER seen anything like this happen, thankfullly. If you don't go, you're the ones missing out. If you're a model, certainly take someone with you. If you're a guy, know the boundaries. It's pretty simple really. |
The drunk guy groping an industry girl is bad, no doubt. But obviously much worse things can happen that go way beyond this.
But honestly, what can you do? If you are a woman watch where you go and who you are with? For guys, even when the alcohol is flowing don't look at a half-naked (or scantly-clad) woman dancing the way you would at a normal club? Everyone is an adult and should act like one without bouncers, babysitters or cops. Those that don't I would assume can get vilified pretty quickly and that may be the worst punishment - not to mention any names. |
Sounds like a good idea!!

time to be the insensentive prick i am
ok. i understand that alot is going on at these conventions. i also understand that these models are there with there husbands, and boyfriends. explain to me why someone besides that person should be handling this? anywhere besides a convention, if someone is harressing your wife/girlfriend then you handle it. yet at a convention its needed to get a board celeb to do it for you? i guess more page views... dont get me wrong, i think that Aaron did what any good guy would have done in his shoes, salute. my problem is where was newbreed once all this was going down? i mean, that is your wife. shes hot, so guys are going to make advances always. thats part of having a hot wife. i would think that his guard should be honed sharp for shit like this. same goes with the vanilla and rinaldo deal. where the fuck was stewie once this guy needed a smack? dude. you are married to one of the hottest girls on the web, id expect you to expect advances on her daily. you cant let your guard done for a sec, if and when you do shit like this happens. im not trying to hold these guys feet to the fire, but its clear that your woman are going to need some form of protection from all sorts, and that is your job. you guys need to tighten up. AaronM cant be around to save everyone all the time yanno. |
You would think that all this negative publicity might teach him a lesson

In reference to this thread, I fail to see how raising the costs for the sponsor to participate will prevent 'surfers' from attending - or to prevent folks who can't control their hormones from harassing others. |

Prevention is definitely the best bet... step in early and try to stop it from escalating... and yes, the husband should do his best to be there. But if it does happen, then the person responsible shouldn't just go "yeah well, her husband wasn't doing anything while he was busy so I had a right to" and walk away unpunished. |
It wouldn't really work.. You can't ban someone from the full event, maybe your party but someone else will let them into another party. Even if you did ban them from an event who is really going to stop them from coming anyway?
Doesn't help either when the girls dress like little schoolgirl sluts. Not saying that these girls did but normally the girl is just as guilty in some way, cock teasing is a dangerous thing. Don't dress the part if you don't want to take the heat. This same kind of crap happens at non-adult shows too. Hell our shows are laid back compared to some non-industry events. I remember a show where the people poured concert in the toilets at the Venetian, a non-adult show. And what about the past event issues? Who would be banned? I can name many owners and great employees that have gotten stupid because of drugs and alcohol. How quickly people forget that their favorite board personalities have done some really stupid shit at parties. The people who put on parties should hire security. If they don?t want someone to enter then they should be on a ban list. Then again, this would only add to the cluster fuck of events in our industry. |

Sounds like its time for organizers of these events to beef up security. In addition high profile models may want to have some decent body guards chilling in the wings as an additional safety precaution.

If newbreed got his hands on the guy, there's no telling what would have happened. And understandable too.... an enraged husband is more likely to go for blood than a good friend who's just looking to protect the girl. |
Agreed dude
