super cheap.... i rented a house last year (1 yr lease); about a 1/2 a mile from Pattaya Beach, 2 br (u can see the tile floors in some of my photos). cost me about 200US/month including elecricity & water.... i eat 3 full meals a day for less than 10 bucks (thai food... farang (or foreiegn) food can be more expensive but tends to be pretty cheap as well). my hi-speed internet connection cost me about 60US/month but its a business line.... home service is cheaper.

there are, but i wouldn't recommend renting before you actually visit here first. i lived in bangkok for a few months & hated it... now i live in pattaya & its wonderful. there are many choices including beautiful islands where you can choose to stay. don't let a picture or some snazzy website fool u... come here & check it out first.

a farang cannot own thai land (u can buy a condo but of course thats not actually land). most farang who do own things here have been here a long time & are married to a thai & that is how they own properties(s)


strange or strict? no... not really. like i said, law enforcement is sorta of lax & they don't really have an organized judicial system. there's not much to worry about... you only get in trouble if you look for trouble in thailand.
