ASACP IS THE VICTIM OF MAJOR EMAIL SPOOF ATTACK AND NEEDS YOUR HELP

Los Angeles - (March 21, 2005) ? The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP.org) was the victim of a major email spoof attack on Sunday evening as were many innocent victims including children.

ASACP is contacting the abuse and legal departments of all affected companies requesting the header information of the emails sent to their customers, so that its forensic researchers can investigate and forward the information to the FBI/AG.

As a result of this spoofed email, ASACP has been receiving many emails from terrified and confused adults and teenagers who are very concerned. The majority of responders have said that they don?t visit adult websites and are concerned about the possiblity of having unknowingly downloaded illegal content.

As always, ASACP is advising people to send any suspected CP websites to the CP reporting page (http://www.asacp.org/report.php)

ASACP is the organization that helps the adult site industry make a difference in the battle against child pornography. Yes, we are working with Yahoo, Verizon and Comcast - they will turn over the header information to the FBI/Attorney General both in the state of origin and CA (because ASACP is in LA).

A self-serving, self-appointed "watchdog" committee (with their own political agenda) is rediculous! If they want to represent our industry, then they should should appoint only ELECTED reps, not just the ones with the most money or political power.

Terrible news... But how can we help to catch the spoofers? Seems there is a serious lack in the ASACP server software (in case if all these messages were really spoofed from them).

I think you should find the time to file on them Steve. The tactics this organisation has used is gross, and some of you folks out there should know this attack was well deserved...

I like what they stand for, but the instruments, structure yields abuse of the agenda and has only been self serving over the years.

I have no axe to grind with you. I have no fingers to point, no room to spare for judgements. I was simply making a comment that I found it peculiar that you would publically be reduced to insulting and quite possibly intentionally hurting someone's feelings with your unkind words. I don't know you very well but one of the most positive things I have heard about you from your own employees, is that you are disciplined in the art of taking the high road. Whether or not Joan is what you say she is, remains subjective to you. I guess I am just feeling a little disappointed in people these days, that very often what we think we might know about them, is often not the case. And well, most times it's more disappointing than refreshing.

So again, apparently this person was referring to another Steve Lightspeed because I was told his approach to these kinds of sitautions was more noble than what we have seen on the boards today.

And to answer your question about why I am not working with GigaCash anymore, I won't address that in a public forum. Never have and never will. I won't do that to Helmy, won't paint a bad picture of a two sided story. But if you are truley interested in my life and wanting to become involved in such a private, intimate aspect of it, perhaps you should begin by asking me out for a drink.

forgive me if I am wrong, but doesn't this all just seem like a childish prank? sending out emails telling people you will bust them for having CP, and using an official sounding letter from ASACP...just sounds like a prank...kind of like acting like the school principal and calling your buddies house and telling their mom they are suspended...

while it does suck, my inner youth giggled a little when I read the letter, just thinking about people freaking out that had no reason to
