Good comeback. I expected a few brain-dead responses like yours but you actually took the time to find some links to back up your stance! Way to go!

Ok, assuming you guys are trying to put up a valid argument ....

The GTA (Toronto area) has over 3.5 million people. In any given year there are 50-75 homicides, gun-related or otherwise. Check out some stats on U.S. cities of a comparable size. Canada has gun control and if it weren't bordering a country that does not, there would be even less guns (as so many enter the country illegally from the U.S.)

Water and electricity do kill people, yes, but they kill people only where there is water and electricity. Guns only kill people where there are guns. And I think it's a fair statement to say that we need water to live - electricity of course is debatable.

I guess if you don't see any problem with children being killed by guns, even more so when it's by another child who presumably found it in his/her home, then there is no convincing you. I guess the only way you'll change your mind is if it happened to someone you know.

Several auto fatalities in vegas last week

let's ban cars too

Peaches 03-13-2005 01:26 PM

Most, if not all of these deaths were caused by people breaking the law. What makes you think they're going to all of a sudden start obeying NEW gun control laws?

FunForOne 03-13-2005 01:28 PM

How about bumper stickers:

"I have no gun in this car"

pornguy 03-13-2005 01:30 PM

Guns dont kill people. People kill people.

I walked by a gun laying on the sidewalk the other day. I stopped, and sat to watch it. For 10 hours I sat there, and the gun did not move. It did not make an aggressive move towards anything. Not the birds that shit on it, not the people that kicked it. But in the mean time there were two fist fights in the park behind me. There was a car crash and fight in the street in front of me. There was a man beating a woman in the window of an appartment across the street. But the gun did not move.

Control the people. Not the guns.

Mr Pheer 03-13-2005 02:15 PM

so you feel that if every country were to outlaw firearms, that all the guns would just vanish, and all gun related deaths would cease?

A good way to stop the child deaths would be for the parents to tell the children to not ever touch a gun if they found it, and to leave and tell an adult if one of thier friends had one. Wouldnt stop every death but its a good place to start.

The hard part, is finding good parents that actually talk to thier kids.

Thats because it I wanted to kill you in Australia all I have to do is go outside and find any animal, plant or tree and take it to your house. Does Australia have any nonpoisonous things ?

smack 03-13-2005 02:48 PM

yeah gun control is a great idea, if you're a NAZI. tell me please, where were the parents in all of this.

you people passing the blame to inanimant objects just because parents refuse to be responsible. it's really sad and depraved. maybe one day you people will open your eyes and realize that gun control is not the answer. gun education, and PARENTS being safe with their firearms is.

Now you are showing your ignorance.

American does have gun control laws. It's just that they are not properly enforced.

Canada has gun prevention laws.

Pete-KT 03-13-2005 02:57 PM

ya guns do kill when there in teh wrong hands, anyone that ownsa gun should have it locked away and nowhere near children, mine is locked in a safe when my 2 year old nephew would never be able to get to

This fucking argument that guns are inanimate objects is about the weakest shit I've heard. So to all you people that think that way, would it be okay with you if everyone had a nuclear device? After all they are inanimate objects, they are harmless until a person detonates one. And the funny thing is its the same people that argue that everyone should be able to have guns that are for stopping countries such as Iran from having nukes, WTF is that about? Joe the maniac down the street can have a gun yet Mohammed can't have a nuke?
They are both inanimate objects. If some of you people could actually use your fucking heads once in a while it would be scary.

I read quite a bit about Australia's gun control success and your statement is incorrect.

Firearm homicides and suicides in Australia have both halved in the ten years from 1991-2001.

Comparing a gun to a nuke is comparing apples to trucks. And apple seed can kill some one, but a truck can kill a family or 100 people at a street festivle.

Nope. No different than the comparison of knives and guns. A guy with a knife in a crowd could kill one person but a guy in a crowd with a gun can kill 100. So thanks for proving my point.

Huggles 03-13-2005 07:17 PM

Right now would probably be a good time for you to clean your firearm. Make sure it's loaded and the safety is off. I'm sure it needs to be cleaned, u don't want to take any chances the next time someone is trying to break into your house, or invade your country again like those damn 'redcoats' (do the research). Man would your face be red. go ahead. clean it.

Icon 03-13-2005 07:25 PM

oh, and guns don't kill people.....Rappers do

The graph shows handgun deaths stayed the same or went up after "Firearm controls enacted".
