Opus 1

its worth the price, some of the best wine i've ever drank

leedsfan 02-04-2005 02:04 PM

what are you drinking it with juicy?

easy drinking by itself, try a pinot noir or sangiovese (italy), tempranillo (spain) or a cabernet franc (france)

with food especially red meat, you want something a bit more power
try a merlot, cabernet sauvignon or shiraz.

NEW WORLD OR OLD ITS ALL GOOD.

hope that helps

I'm a sweet wine fan. Chianti is one of my faves... and also (blushing to admit) I love a Lambrusco. It's cheap, but it's my kind of wine. :)

Head 02-04-2005 02:07 PM

Price range?
Chianti $20.00 to $35.00
Brunello $50 to $100.00

Young 02-04-2005 02:07 PM

Depends....

What are you going to do with the wine?

Eat a meal?

Get a girl fucked up?

Get nice and giggly for the club?

or put on some slippers and watch a movie with Izzz?

Juicy D. Links 02-04-2005 02:10 PM

Its a present.

Opus 1 is some tasty stuff. Carlo Rossi's Little Paisano will get you there just as fast for about 1/20th the price tho.

Its usually anywhere from $30-$60 a month. Some can be combined with "Cheese Clubs" too. I have a catalog at my house with all these different clubs. The wine and cheeses are sent by the season. Its perfect you get a little taste of everything.

I've sent them to past clients as gifts. Most clubs require a 4 month minimum or something. But if you gonna do it, a year is the only way to go

I enjoy wine....I can drink a $9 bottle and be just as happy as a $900 bottle. You just gotta know what to look for.

.

Markham Merlot
Anything from Wente or Sterling is good too

Pinot Noir - go for the David Bruce

all of them between $20 and $40

sexdwarf 02-04-2005 02:21 PM

i recommend Chateau Sociando Mallet Haut-Medoc, early 90's or even 1990 itself... even the early 2000's but find one in the 90's if you want a really good wine...

Giorgio_Xo 02-04-2005 02:22 PM

Stag's Leap Reserve - Cabernet Sauvignon.

RP Fade 02-04-2005 02:22 PM

Depends on your budget..

My favorites are Opus One, Chateau Margaut, Jordan, Silver Oak & Camus.

They vary in price..

my favorite is the 96, 98 & 99. Those are the best IMO but pricey. I would get those for someone that will really appreciate them :)

The 2001 is maturing nicely and it's still reasonable..I think around $125 or so.

For something under $100, Silver Oak and Jordan are good..

Young 02-04-2005 02:30 PM

Big money never equals better taste...IMHO but I'm only 24 so what the fuck do i know :)

sometimes it does

But there are soooooo many good wines under 50 bucks that you dont need to spend a fortune to get a really good bottle of wine

Never had that..will add to list.

And I agree, Phelps is also a good vineyard :thumbsup

sexdwarf 02-04-2005 02:33 PM

price ranges for good medoc's can go from $20 to $200... i would never spend less than $50 for a medoc...

sexdwarf 02-04-2005 02:35 PM

oh and one last thing; if you are on a budget; red wines from chili are generally very cheap but have quite some taste to it... Gato Negro is one of these very tasty wine that will run you under $7

Yes and no, I've NEVER had a wine with the texture, boldness and after-taste that the Opus have except maybe Petrus. In the end, it's all a matter of taste and there are plenty of great wines under $50. But this is a gift so I think Juicy wants to get something nice..

aimeesweet 02-04-2005 02:39 PM

I like a nice full bodied wine so I tend to drink either Cabernet Sauvignon or a Cabernet Franc...
You can also try these:
Italians- Barbaresco or Barolo
French- Chateau neuf du Pape
