Internext Changes
I just saw this.
http://www.xbiz.com/news_piece.php?id=7064 Just a little advice for avn. CHANGE YOUR PASS SYSTEM. The lineup in vegas was way too long. It took more than 2 hours to pick up an exhibitor pass. Come on, that is totally unacceptable. Come up with a new pass system and stop using 90 year old ladies that don't have a clue how to operate a computer. They are slow and old to begin with and then you throw them into a terrible situation of having to deal with pissed off webmasters. Whoever was in charge of the handing out of passes in vegas should not only be fired they should be shot. :BangBang: |

Get your promo materials ordered early! (from me) |
I offered the old bitch a 50 spot to take me ahead of the line , she declined :-(
|
media pass is the way to go . . . 5 minutes
|
Definitely a good idea would be for the companies to provide proof/id prior to the show and perhaps they can hand out the passes to their employees.
|
I agree... we had an exhibitor pass and it took us around 3 freakin hours! :disgust

nice to finally meet ya bro :thumbsup
i agree that line was ridiculous. thank moses we only had to wait about 30 minutes, but still thats way too long |
I cannot agree more Shap.
I am tired of the show, it's the same old shit. I was unhappy with Mandalay Bay, I won't stay there again. |
that's cuz you guys are lazy asses who slept in late. I waited like 20 min... oh wait i jumped the line
|
That line was crazy! We waited about 2 hours also. Those poor old ladies didn't have a clue! They kept messing up the badges and having to redo them, which is probably what took so long. :Oh crap
It was great meeting you! :thumbsup |
"What is your name again son? How do you spell ADAM?"

In addition, the venue, the Westin Diplomat Hotel & Spa, will be completely locked off from the public, enabling more networking privacy for adult company attendees. hummmmm.......interesting............ :thumbsup |
I second that! It was the really bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I even was preregistered and picked up my shit early... still had to wait. They had a bunch of young looking dudes that just stood behind the old ladies not working. Was really sad.

Won't happen. After years and years of doing this show, you would think someone has a clue by now regarding these lines. Bottomline to them is cutting corners to make as much profit as possible. There's a reason Internext is in Jan and overlapping CES as same time...which is just a nightmare all around. It's nuts. But this won't change because AVN is overly confident that they hold this market..so there's no reason to make changes. They know you'll follow whatever they decide...and they're right...everyone has. What i don't understand is why someone like Lensman, Epoch, (hint hint) doesn't see the big opportunity for a new show in Vegas to replace internext...and simply take over the Vegas show. Put it a few weeks after CES and everyone registers to this show instead of internext. Do it right for a change. Easier said then done obviously, but certainly not impossible when you gather a few of a the bigger players and pull together all their marketing power and resources. Overall, my experience was ok. Aside from Mandalay having terrible customer service and the unacceptable showroom lines, i enjoyed myself..so that was cool. |
Shit if anybody should run it, it should be you guys. You throw a BAD ASS PARTY! :thumbsup

That has been said over and over. But I agree, it's only a matter of time and drive. |

I agree AVN really needs to work on the lines and the time frame. I see no reason what so ever to have to pay higher flight costs cause of CES and new years eve and holiday vacation people flying home- no possibility of extending my room in vegas and 2 hour can line ups cause of CES. 2 weeks later and everyone gets their upgrades on their flights at 1/2 the cost. Rooms are cheaper and you can do anything cause vegas isn't PACKED. I can even get a direct flight if it's a week later - can't do it that the time internext is cause it's too close to the holiday season. AVN has listened in the past - this is a big one, and i HOPE they do listen up or someone is really gona take this from them and there won't be anything they can do about it. |
|
AVN is a joke, they do not care about us. We are a joke to them.
Someone should set up a real biz convention, "millionaires" convention. I am looking forward to the PHX and Cancun shows. Will not even be in Miami for that show. |
Sleazy I agree with you. I don't mind the prices as much as i mind the timing of the show. 2 weeks after xmas. Days after New Years. Vegas is packed. Everything is booked. And the show itself was absolutely useless.
I was speaking with my head programmer today who's also been in the game for 8 years (worked with the Isupply guys) and we both seem to agree the avn shows haven't evolved with the times. They have always been geared towards the launch of new companies and products. Our industry seems to be in a state where we know 90% of the products out there. We don't need to see their booth. What we need to do is sit down with our peers and talk business. I have rarely picked up any business on the show floor. However private dinners and gatherings are definitely where it's at. The only reason avn's internext is still running is people flying there to meet at the same place. However i think we all saw it this year, the people aren't wasting their time walking the show floor thesedays. Was i the only one that felt the show floor was really empty this year? |
The two industry events overlapping is a good thing. There is some synergy there even if 75% of the IE attendees don't undersand it.
As was posted before, Epoch, Lens, Marc or someone else forward thinking needs to take over the week after and just switch the shit around. I'm sure if Lens did it the convention would be his in no time. |

Exactly...putting all the lines aside, it's the simple fact that the whole show is impossible with it overlapping CES and so close the holidays. It's the simple things that matter as well. Trying to grab a limo, any type of dinner reservation in a decent place, or even catching a cab ends up being a huge production. Then there's the flights and the room costs. If i wanted to stay an extra day to have a business meeting, aside from the rooms being at unacceptable prices cause of CES, the sad thing is that i simply CAN'T stay another day because they're all booked up....even if i wanted to pay more. I remember telling them i would pay double for the extra day for my room, but they wouldn't have it. No matter how much i offered, i had to leave. How is this helping my business? To have this show right after holidays and overlapping CES is such a joke on all counts. It truly makes it impossible to do any 'on the fly' type of business with such massive limitations. And this is what AVN doesn't understand....their business model hasn't evolved along with this industries needs and wants. I'm telling you, someone out there with some drive has a huge opportunity to take over this show and do it up right. It's obvious that AVN won't listen and nor do they care. But i really think it's just a matter of time before the big boys get together and take it over...if they're smart. I mean, someone out there must have some foresight and see this open opportunity.. |
i'm not sure i want to go on an AVN bashing spree here.
Were the lines horrible - yes Was it at the wrong time of year - yes. can AVN respond to these two major problems? That is yet to be determined. I see some new staff there these days that are capable people and listen when spoken to and I know for a fact they are aware of these problems. AVN did listen to requests to change the venue - I was happy they at least tried something new even if it wasn't as good as the venetian. The days of a corporate decision making process that takes forever to make up it's mind is OVER - it doesn't work to take forever with this crowd - everyone (big and little) in this marketplace is able to turn on a dime and it's why we make the money we do. My :2 cents: is this - before i go on any AVN bashing I'd like to see how they handle the next convention. I never really saw anyone complain about these two things properly before, so I feel they at least need the oportunity to react and fix the problem. If it happens again, I'll be the first to lead the charge to have someone else take it over though....but i have faith in the new staff and attitude i'm senceing from them that they will adress and fix this problem in the future. |

I don't think AVN will ever move the convention, because they make too much money from gawkers who are in town for CES. Most of the fans at the AVN show didn't even know any but the most famous of the girls. They just wanted to see babes.
As for Internext, they should definitely move to the day after the AVN Expo ends. |
not only was the wait for the line too long, but going on the floor wasnt anything to write home about. it was either good companies i already promote or companies that werent worth promoting. i think the private dinners and the parties was where it was it. i could have just slept in and not bothered with a show pass in vegas and i would have been happy.

I totally agree ! Lines were too long. The date always sucks just after New Year, Christmas etc. And with the CES prices for hotels are insane and cabs are hard to get. I have been sick now for 3 fucking weeks, including my time in the USA. Today it's going much better again. Anyway I don't think I go to Vegas next year. |
"can AVN respond to these two major problems? "
Has AVN ever responded to anything for the internet show? No. It is an afterthought. |
Other than coming to the show and paying for a badge... I won't ever spend the money again on a booth, for damn sure through AVN. $1000 Internet, can't move a box on your own, they fuck you over every way they can, shit stolen, blah blah blah..
Has a money program ever made it's ROI on a $50k+ booth & all the other show costs? |
I personally think that the summer show (INTERNEXT ? Hollywood, FL) should be moved toward the 3rd or 4th week of the month. Why you ask....for content shooters who are bargain hunters....I?m am not saying you shouldn?t pay industry standard rates for talent but as the end of the month approaches....most talent don?t have enough $$$ to pay there rent.......so there much more easier to negotiate with?. :2 cents:
