I felt like I was waiting for tickets to the hottest concert of the year... not a tradeshow I already paid for.

I couldn't agree more, the lines on the first day of the show were unacceptably long.

Frankly, that's the EASY issue to solve. Convention facilities in Vegas (and most cities) require all labour to be performed by local IATSE union members. AVN is not making any money off high labour costs or the enforced use of unionized workers. AVN also has no say in who/ how old ;) those workers are... There was not some corporate decision to personally hire a bunch of 75 year olds to work computers! Solutions are being implemented to work objectively WITH that reality, (and the other factors that affected the unusually long lines this year,) and prevent such things next year.

Yes, the shows ARE changing... the Florida show this year is a very different model.

But to go back to Vegas Internext... AVN manages a convention, companies show up and exhibit, or not... AVN doesn't control who exhibits, or HOW they exhibit. As someone who's been a client and CUT her exhibiting budget in recent years, I see the Internext as clearly indicative of how this industry has shifted through the years. I really don't see the logic in bashing AVN for the fact that the show's not as exciting as it once was. KEEP TELLING ME how Vegas Internext could better serve this industry and I'll listen.

As far as dates go... I'm listening... also remember that I'm listening to about 1000 different points of view on that! There are many who LIKE being around the AEE convention dates and would be furious to see that change. Dates are also very limited by the availability of space in Vegas at any point in time. I recently discovered that it's a little more complicated than it appears to the rest of us.

If you have ideas on how Internext can better serve the industry, please tell me.

With regards to passes, why not have an online system where registered people can enter in the exact display they want on the pass and have the passes all ready before hand. That would save a ton of time and really not add any cost.

THANKS for the suggestion! :thumbsup

Yes, that's similar to some of the options being considerd. Badge holders would still be required to show ID to get in (because it's adult), but I like something along those lines, too.

This may sound like a ridiculous question, but why have it in Vegas? I had a good time, but trying to get stuff done in a place where their light bill is more than Bill Gates' pension is a serious problem for me. Too many distractions all in one place.

The Florida show was sooo much easier for me, concentration-wise. Not too much other crap happening.

IF you sent everyone their badges before and then they have to show id to get in , wouldnt it validate and lessen lines? Just a thought:)

It's not easy finding a venue that's "adult industry" friendly for that many people.

Personally I love it being in Vegas, but like the others, I hate WHEN it is :winkwink:

Good point.

*nudges toward Seattle....looks around.....nudges again*

If Vegas MUST be the place, then for pity's sake, please put it someplace that NOT a 3-mile walk from the hotel next door.

I agree, the lines were toooooo long! It was like cattle.

But unlike cattle, I lived and had a great time at the show!

50 internext changes...

Sammy4u 01-21-2005 02:07 PM

I to wish the city and dates would change. Seattle or LA would be great and later in the month or even Feb would be much nicer.

RevSand 01-21-2005 02:29 PM

Damn this is a toughie.. I personally like it being the same week as AEE since I attend both and would not want to make a seperate trip. I am sure its the same for much of the talent that attends both for the week (at least the talent I know).. I think its aweful having it the same week as CES but I also understand that the fan passes to AEE are where AVN makes money from that show. I would never attend AEE during the fan times becuase its packed with all the people coming over from CES. Its a tough cookie if you really break down all the angles on it..

I do TOTALLY agree that something has to be done with the lines to internext tho, that was stupid. The line system for AEE seemed to be much quicker and controled but maybe that was just the time I went in..

MaDalton 01-21-2005 02:42 PM

i cannot really complain cause that way i was able to attend Internext, AEE and CES within one week - and Vegas isn't just around the corner for me. but i have to agree that those lines were disgusting and the city was really packed with all those shows.
