I have a glock

for some reason you of all people I could not picture with a gun.
I did think about a glock. but then i found out more than half the gun was plastic.
you have any pics?

that sucks. we have some pretty strict carry laws. it basicly says NO. Open carry is the closest but you have to live in the middle of no where.

I checked in the past for NY , Long Island its like a real pain in the ass and shit a permit and stuff legit

SIG SAUER P228 9mm...its nice to go to the range with.

Glocks have alot of plastic on them but a very light gun if you want one to carry all the time, That gun you posted looks nice, Best way to get a feel for a gun is go to a big gun store and have them let you try them out before you deside what you want.

Sigs are some nice guns but damn they are pricy.

Shot 3 guns when I went. I loved the way the 1911 rested in my hand. felt so natural.

Always go with the gun that you feel most natural with, Some guns might be real good at firing but not feel good for you and good for others, you gotta be comfortable with your firearm

Heavy, not too accurate but made to knock the piss out of something at close range. I too like Glocks. The best handgun I ever owned, however, was a S&W .38 . I don't know why, I just liked that fucking thing. I could put a very nice tight pattern in a target with it out to about 25 feet.

Yes, the 1911. Developed for the army to take down Moro tribesman (not sure on the spelling) who used to juice themselves up on something and then make a suicide charge.

Don't let the fact that a good chunk of the gun is made from plastic scare you away from buying one, we Glock owners happily call them Tactical Tupperware. :thumbsup

I've shot ALOT of guns over the years, I really love the Kimber Custom TLE II, but I was never as accurate as I was with the Glock 21, even more suprising was shooting the Glock 36, That sealed the deal for me!

Want to explain what you want to accomplish with this purchase, is this for home defence, target shooting, or just something that looks cool? I'll be more than happy to dole out advice in making sure you're going to be happy with this purchase.

Ah, the sig p228... a gun built like a swiss watch. Of all the handguns I've fired, the sig by far felt the most at home in my hand. One of these days I'll get off my ass, send all my change of address stuff and crap to miramichi and get myself one.

I've had opportunity to fire the 1911a and several varieties of glock, a p220, a couple HKs (they have a rather nice .40s&w, although the one I shot had a 'spikey' competition grip that hurt like a bitch when I shot it), a .50AE desert eagle (unweildy monster, don't get it unless you're compensating for a smaller gun somewhere else on your body ;) and a variety of smaller calibres. For my purposes (target shooting for shits and giggles) a 1911 wouldn't be too practical: it's relatively heavy weight when loaded and recoil messed with my accuracy, and the cost of the .45ACP rounds vs. cheap-as-dirt 9mm would get nasty over time. Nothing like the 'buck a bullet' .50AEs, but still up there. When I go to the range, I want to hang out for a while. :thumbsup

The 1911's I've seen though are built helluva solid. The kind of machine you could drive a truck over, pull out of the mud a week later, rinse under a tap and shoot and expect reasonable results, unlike some of the other manufacturers guns which seem to be plagued with stovepiping (hk) and light hammer falls (glock and occasionally sig), although those problems could be explained away as insufficient care issues.

Post some pics if you get it. Give it to a hot babe and have her hold it. Or just post some pics of the chick without the gun. :winkwink:

Just looking for a house gun that I feel comfortable with shooting. After shooting that i did with the 1911 it was right up my alley. Plus the stainless looked cool as well. :)
I shot 100 rounds through one at the range. SA 1911 GI model. Loved it.

Im looking at 1000 round .45acp army surplose. $92. I was thinking that wasnt to bad. Thats to shoot for fun.
And 50 rounds of Hydrashock for self defence.

OK, given that information I would still recommend one of the Glock's and here's why. You want a home defence gun so you or someone else in the house can operate under stress, with a Glock 22 (.40 caliber) you'd have either a 15-17 round magazine, the main safety is in the trigger like a revolver, no fiddling with thumb safeties with some bad guy breaking in.

Spend the extra money for the Trijicon sights, and I would look into the Laser Max laser sights, its an internal system, again, all idiot proof and easy to operate under stressful conditions.

i own a glock 23 but still perfer the 1911. they have the grip safety which id consider safer

That's a nice gun, just worry about not getting in trouble with it.

Don't get me wrong, I love the 1911, just as a home defence weapon the Glock can't be beat. My own mother that has never fired a gun before could shoot a Glock if she had to, if I gave her my 1911 without any instruction, I'm afraid she'd shoot herself. :(

Learning to shoot the Glock safely and accurately takes a little curve, just like the H&K P7, which is also worth a look. :thumbsup

:thumbsup Certainly one of my favorites. I prefer the smaller frame size and the trigger safety system over the thumb system with 1911's. Also the "out of the box" accuracy tends to be a lot better than most 45-auto Colt's. Not sure of the accuracy of the Springfield's, never tried one. Just look at what the cops are carrying, about 90% are toting a Glock 9mm or .40, and there's a good reason for that.

My "old reliable" is Glock 19, Trijicon sights, and fed Winchester Sivertip 115gr JHP's. Perfect combo in my book.

I think i like the idea knowing that i would be the only one that could shoot it. :winkwink:

I love all the saftey options. But i dont like that new key lock in the handle. to thats overboard.

why do you need that for? i just hate them ..
