House protection. Plus going to a range to shoot is just to much fun.

Personal experience..

A "stock" Srpingfield 1911 out of the box is going to need work done to it.. It will tend to jam, not zero easily, the slide can easily "bite" and some other problems..

That way my experience with the Springfield 1911 standard...

Now, when I got my Springfield 1911 "Operator" from their custom shop, MAN what a difference, that thing shoot straight as an arrow, right out of the box, no misfires, no ejection problems, nothing, just a flat out awesome gun..

Spend the extra $$ and get it from teh custom shop, you'll thank yourself in the long run...

A handgun is never considered a good "house protection" weapon..

You have the problem with over penetration of the walls, when awakened in the middle of the night, you're not in the right frame of mind to be aiming accurately.

For home protection, I reccomend, a nice 12 guage ( Mossberg M3 tatical would be a good choice ) loaded with 00 buck...

You don't have to worry about over penetration, and it's point and pull, plus the sound or chambering a round, is usually enough to make any bad guy shit his pants and leave a stain on your floor heading for the door..

Everything Rick said is correct. If your primary purpose for acquiring a firearm is for protection, go with a pump.

Mag-Safe's which SWAT teams uses break apart in sheetrock.

Glaser's enter the victim but dont come out.

two choices to make sure its only the criminal taking the hit.

Yep, the Moros. Or you can just say Filipinos.

One of the things that I liked about the 1911 is the huge amount of aftermarket things you can get for it. Im sure i will have work done to it to make it better. :)

I have a ruger p-89 9mm. I just got it the other day, I havent shot it yet though. I am thinking about getting a s&w .38 here pretty soon.

Yeah, Kansas carry laws suck. If I moved about two miles I would be in Missouri and could take an 8 hour class and legally carry concealed.

DirtyDanza 01-17-2005 10:32 PM

that gun is a POS... get an HK like I got

DirtyDanza 01-17-2005 10:32 PM

btw I would never trust a 9mm to stop a human being

tedwinters 01-17-2005 10:33 PM

Heh, I'm in Canada..
Thought about the SA 1911, and the SigSauer 1911 GSR..

Ended upo getting the STI Trojan 1911... kicks ass :)

tedwinters 01-17-2005 10:36 PM

Yeah.. 1911's are fun to customize....
as for the glocks.. they're cool, they're reliable.. but, i've never been able to accurately shoot them..
something about the shape just messes with me..
