Epoch has been up for 30 minutes.

Keeping fingers crossed.

angelsofporn 08-28-2004 10:18 AM

We have cascading and it didnt help becuase the epoch pages werent denying the sales, They were just timing out after about 5 minutes then going 404. So the secondary processor never got wind of the failed transaction.

ItBurnsWhenIpee 08-28-2004 10:24 AM

How long has it been not accepting sales? Mine have been in the SHITTER today and yesterday

angelsofporn 08-28-2004 10:24 AM

still down here

InsaneMidget 08-28-2004 10:25 AM

DirtyJ_ExtendedMarketing 08-28-2004 10:28 AM

hey lens, its still down trying one of of your links. Got all the way to your join, hit submit, got a timeout on the epoch side.. also, my friend said his sales with 3 different epoch sponsors are between 1-2 instead of 9-15.

Furious_Male 08-28-2004 10:30 AM

They are up and down like a see saw. Did I miss any sort of announcement from them?

tony286 08-28-2004 10:31 AM

I am surprised Epoch hasnt posted a update on it .They tend to be on top of those things.

Manowar 08-28-2004 10:32 AM

Good news :glugglug

DirtyJ_ExtendedMarketing 08-28-2004 10:33 AM

I did a trace to em from 3 countries.. its dead as a doornob..

I also did 100 pings to their domain/ip with a high timeout and got zero responses.

Shap 08-28-2004 10:34 AM

Why don't major sponsors like SilverCash have cascading processing?

The transactions never make it to the second processor becuase the epoch join pages just sit there and eventually go 404. So no denial code is given to trigger forwarding to the secondary.

I lost alot of money last night...manually switched the primary over to ccbill this morning and now things are fine.

What sponsor are you using where you can choose your primary processor? Or is this your own site?

Note to myself: finish cascading billing next week.

Lens....smart, was tellilng my partner I was feeling like having one processor with the entire biz sitting there made me sooo nervous, so just before Florida, we launched cascading to smashbucks Version 3, feeling stupid that we did not do it before, already seeing a 20% increase in sales....

ItBurnsWhenIpee 08-28-2004 10:52 AM

Does no one have a way to contact Paycom????

What if they're too busy sleeping in to know

Sorry everyone, we have been busy with the problem and are just now getting to the boards.

We have been experiencing DOS Attacks. These were intermittent yesterday and then again early this morning. Our Tech Team is on the issue and we have our full crew in the office working the problem. We won?t post any ways that we are fighting this as the hacker will just use that information to attack us even more.

We have been very fortunate that we were not ?down?, just not able to get all attempts through. The situation is much better now, however we continue to watch and fight as best we can.

Please understand that the same thing can happen to any webmaster or billing company ? it even happened to GFY. A couple of weeks ago one of our competitors experienced the same attack; a few weeks before that another had a similar attack. This is nothing more than a person, or persons, trying to extort money from us and hurting our business and yours in the process.

We ask that no matter where you process that you hang in there with your processor. You should not let these parasites win by moving business. We fully understand that you have your own concerns, but remember that we have 99% up time and when an event like this happens, as it always will, sooner or later, that 1% will seem huge. We can?t control what you do during these times, we just ask that you be patient and be assured that we are doing everything possible to minimize the adverse impact of this attack on us all.

Thanks,

C

We are NEVER asleep, EVER, just a little busy sometimes.

If you are in the USA, call 888 627 3888, at the prompt enter 320 to reach Tech Support. If you are outside the USA call + 1 310 827 5880, then enter 320 at the prompt.

As for those of you that think you are immune to this type of attack and are kicking us when we are down (no pun intended), I can only hope that you do not have to go through this problem with your clients and friends adding fuel to the fire instead of helping us put it out.

A little industry support would be a good thing every once in a while ? especially now. Please remember that we do not make money while this is happening either and we can?t just ?switch? when there is a problem. When your sites go down or links are broken we let you know, with the intention of helping.

Best of luck Chris and staff. These kind of attacks are hard as hell to fix so I can understand your frustration right now.

Chris Mallick 08-28-2004 11:23 AM

Thanks everyone. We will stay strong and be there for the industry, always. This is just "one of those things". If we ever find the people that are doing this we will get Medieval on their asses, I promise.

that is exactly what I want to hear. :)

Lensman 08-28-2004 11:37 AM

I had a suspicion that what it was. DOS attacks are a bad deal. I should know.

Of course we all stand behind Epoch right now. I just hope our affiliates understand.

I hope you have some great network engineers, because that's what it takes. A good one can stop it pretty fast. Average guys probably will never stop them. Of course, if you took my advice a year ago...

I thought we took your advice!

We do have some pretty incredible people in our Tech Department. Trust me, if you knew what was going on or how bad it could have been you would be very impressed.

Lens, you know I love you man, but DAMN! There is not one single company or person that can stop all this crap, except maybe Bill Gates. Microsoft should be ashamed at how many computers are Trojaned; that is what is causing this and all sorts of other issues.

We are doing our best, keep the faith and email me with any suggestions.
