I say Canadians... my experience has been Americans are good tippers... but then again I've only been to places like San Francisco and New York...

Someone just posted in another thread that it's not customary for people to tip in Austrailia. At least we Americans tip SOMETHING.

I think it depends. Teens? yeah, but most of them you should look at there parents, I bet their parents don't tip well either. Canadians and Americans? I think that depends on where abouts you live in those 2 countries. I personally think it has alot to do with your surroundings if you are a good tipper or not. Personally, I tend to think that I tip a bit on the high side, but I like to reward good service, I have friends that don't like to tip at all, but that is because they are used to getting everything and feel that it is their right to be served upon. Who knows.....

I tip well too....but get mad at myself when I tip well and the service was downright horrible.

I'm a good tipper and that's why i'm broke !
When the service is good, i usally give a tip that's bigger than the price itself. And when it's not, i do tip too but less.

I do tip well only when the service is good.
Otherwise I make sure they know they have done a shit job and are getting close to nothing.

Tipping should not be necessary imho.
Someone brings me a fucking plate and a water and the bill is $60-80 for my plate so I have to give them another 15% after the fucking government takes 15%?

When I was younger I was a waitress and I appreciated it when someone tipped me for working hard.. I do the same for them.


Although my last waitress job.. I poured coffee on a bitches lap and quit.. I guess I should not work in the public hehe :-))

The bartenders there make 14-18 bucks an hour.. bar/wait staff in North America make bare minimum.

I Bartended for years... sorry to say older Americans do have a reputation for lousy tippers and when I'm in the states I get more free drinks from bartenders because I tip 20% minimum per drink/order and they are blown away usually. The french tip but are very 12-15% to the tee unless service is exceptional.

I had a redneck say to me after ordering a 60 dollar round for his buddies and leaving me nothing "The only thing I tip is my hat and I aint wearing one"..I took his beers back, gave his money back and said "the only cocksucker I serve has tits and a nice ass and you have neither...SEE YA"

the worst tippers would be university students. one of my friends worked at the campus bar and most students just used their meal cards. the ones with meal cards didn't tip at all.
