You could not be further from the truth. A frenchie from quebec will outip anybody else 2:1 You can litteraly build a business here with the way these people tip, they are by far the best fucking tippers I have ever seen. Best part is, Half of them dont have a pot to piss in lol.... Altho that doesnt stop them whatsoever. When they get serviced, even if its complete shit you can almost always expect a kick ass tip. :2 cents: |

Okay I consider myself lower-middle class and I ask myself WHY DO YOU DESERVE MY MONEY. If I'm ordering some expensive what gives you the idea I can pay you 20% and up?
Example - I use to ride taxicabs alot before I got my car. I'd spend up to 50-100 dollars to get there. I'm not made up money, he just made alot of money doing his line of work. Why should I now give him 10-30 dollars? :uhoh |
College dudes unless of course they just want to impress the girl they're dining with!
|
I dont know about other countries but in Canada you are taxed on 8% of what you sold, that mean if someone leaves no tip at all you are actually paying for them to have come and drink/eat .
And the reason you need to tip is this kind of work is very hard in some ways, how many time you busted youre bartenders ears with youre pathetics problems and he or she listened and poured you another drink. How many times did you tried all your lame ass pick up lines on the barmaid and she didnt slap youre sorry ass How many time that cool bartender gave you free shots(and btw in most times they not from the house, they directly from the tip jar) So coming from a part time bartender here tips are well deserved and if you think the person serving you did an ok job, spare a :321GFY buck more. thank you! :) |

I know one thing for sure ..
Best tipper in the world: JoeE .. besides that I am a very good tipper when I am back in Germany after staying in the states as tips are very low here and I am used to tip 20 - 30 % which is very uncommon here .. |

Can't tip? Can't dine or drink out. Stay home, cheap ass mo-fo. In my experience, the phrase "Seperate checks" pretty much guarantees a bad tip, and it usually comes from middle-class, 20-something to 40-something, "professional" women. But the absolute worst tippers are the post-fundie-religious-convention crowd (they like to leave fliers that say "Here's your tip - find Jesus.") and the post-theater dessert crowd (how I HATED them). |
you guys are forgetting one thing the whole service compris of the french and simular systems work completely different then its done in the US
ask any guy from france or the uk, theyll tell you it says "a 15% service fee is added to your bill" and still you need to tip, thats fucking confusing how it works, you can pay it you can refuse to pay but then again its "not done" works differently everywhere, here in holland there are ppl who just dont tip nowhere and its allowed and accepted as well |

-----Can't say that it's nationality...it's more exposure to bar culture here in the US and occupation..
I knew a girl that bartended in London. Tipping is not done there. Most Europeans may not be good tippers when they first get here, but I know many that are here for a while and they are incredible tippers. Some old people do not tip well (I mean old, old). Years ago the standard was 10%. Some have not changed with the times. It's all about the occupation and not the race or nationality. People that understand a hard days work---like construction workers, generally tip well. People that think they are the fucking elite class, like doctors, generally tip poorly. There are always exceptions, but this is true more often than not. |
i bartended for 9 years mainly high volume clubs and some fine dinning to tiki bar places as well... Here's my 2 cents...
This is based on where i tended bar which was Fort Lauderdale and South beach florida. Worst tippers: the colleage crowd the french cdn the 2-4-1 chacering crowd the convention crowd Celebs, Athletes, ROCK STARS the bar or restuarant owner(s) AND my MOM Best Tippers: Drug Dealers Bookies lets just say ALL shady ppl tip well NYer if they think you are hot joee depending on his bi-polor mood, he would also fall under #3 adult industry peeps excluding the smaller content producers peeps that work in the bar or restuarant biz the gays and bisexuals and some Rappers I tip 20% at restuarants and more % on just drinks at a bar. Oh and women tippers are way worse then men in general... actually most women are really fuckin cheap... god bless the women that do tip well... :2 cents: :2 cents::thumbsup :thumbsup |
Over the years I've had many friends who worked in the restaurant biz here in Florida, and I've heard huge amounts of complaints about Canadian tourists and their no or barely-anything tipping.

It's europeans, hands down. Ask anyone in the hospitality business of either restaraunts, hotels or amusement parks and they'll tell you that they hardly get any tips for europeans. I can't even recant how many waiters and waitresses I've heard this from my whole life. In the US, it's customary to tip 15% but there are lots of people like me that are crazy good tippers... Of course we have our share of cheap bastards, as any country would with 250+ mil people. Brad |

fink i'm the worst tipper..
i hated it is the states when u get the bill and it sez "service charge" at the bottom!! i think it really fukin cheeky if the service is shite the they will still charge you i think if u wanna tip then u tip it shud be a reflection of the service and not because u have to!! oo i cud rant on all day:ak47: |
You need to travel around a bit... In the US it is customary to tip certain percentages (not like MOST other countries). People in the US routinely tip 15 - 20% for eating out, very well for valet, etc. This is not the same in most of Europe. Americans are actually the best tippers because they are so used to it. We even tip when we are not supposed to tip - crazy
