Ceiling fan bolts broke loose and the whole damn thing came spinning off
like some evil destruction bound Hell wing looking for blood.....
(no pics... I'm injured. just able to reach the keyboard in posting desperation as I gasp in my last few dying breaths) (ok, maybe not the last few.... but it still hurts.) |
damn are you ok? hospital?
|
I always wondered what would happen if one of those things came loose. Ours are kind of wobbly looking, it probably wouldn't hurt to look them over.

Damn it sucks for sure! It happens at home as well, but it didn't hit anyone.

now I know. this office fan was the only one I hadn't replaced. Fucker clocked me. |
that's why i always make sure mine is blowing downwards and not in reverse, so if it breaks loose it will just hover down slowly.
|
Damn, that's scary Amp. Glad you're ok. If you had that on high speed I imagine those things could have sliced your head off.
Whoa. Just thinking how freaky that would be cause then your nick would have been your destiny for fame. Hawaii (Associated Press) - Net Surfer With Board Nick "Amputate Your Head" Gets Decapitated By Ceiling Fan. :( :1orglaugh :1orglaugh |
Yikes..sounds like a scene from those Final Destination movies..
|
Ouch..that really sucks
|
eww...gotta be more cautious here....there is one up here!
|
Doesnt sound very fun. Lucky I live in a climate where a ceiling fan wouldnt be much use :)
|
Shit, if it really did whack you on the head you should get yourself checked out - take care.
|
happened to my cousin when he was a little kid. he was in his bed looking up and his ceiling fan came un bolted all of a sudden and landed right on him. he is scared to death of ceiling fans still.
He took the one in his bedroom out of his house cause he doesnt want it to happen again. |

i don't think it's caused me any permanent psychological damage or anything.... I'm just glad it didn't smash my monitors or anything. |
You should see a dr I think.. anyway take care :(

Be careful Amp!!! If it didn't knock you out or anything, you're most likely fine. But grab and mirror and see if your pupils look even. If you start feeling nautious or dizzy, go to the ER. Take care!!
|
sorry amp i just have to do this...
:1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh ok.. thats out my system, i just pictured you chillin in your pc chair, reading posts and then hearing a snap and having a big ass fan come slamming down on to you.... lol but ... sorry about that shit man, glad you are alright, i remember when i was little i slept over my friends house on her brothers bunkbed and fucking lifted my head up into the spinning fan haha glad you are alright though man |

I have a somewhat similar story.. You know those little light covers that people sometimes have over the ceiling lights in their bedrooms as a shade? Bout a foot square of glass? I was laying in my bed when I was a kid.. and one of them shattered right over top of me. I missed losing an eye by about an inch. Been paranoid about stuff dropping on me ever since. |

Damn i always think on that on Saturdays night at an overcrowded club here in my city, it has 3 very lose ceiling fans over the crowd and i always think on how much heads it can cut if they fall off.
I hope you're ok and that your head is still over your shoulders. |
Would have been a better story if it had hovered just over your head for a moment before launching into orbit, never to be seen again...
UNTIL... Sorry, I'm really, really bored. Glad there were no decapitations. |
I've seen so many loose ceiling fans and thought about how much it would suck if you were under it when it fell. This is the first one I have heard of falling. There is probably a statistic somewhere about how many people get injured by falling ceiling fans each year. Hope you're alright.
|
fucking owwwwwwwww
|
a few years ago, I was in the room when just one of the fins of a ceiling fan flew off . . . put a nice dent in the wall :helpme everybody make sure your screws are tight. :uhoh
|
Damn! I always wondered if my ceiling fan could do that. Now I cant turn it on without thinking about it choppin my beautiful head of
|
|
Shit!
I remember standing about 20 feet up on a wobbly ladder at an awkward angle to get the fan over my bed installed - if that fucker came down it would have some SERIOUS momentum behind it. Forget about the fact that its spinning fast and it weighs about 30 pounds.... :helpme |
Lucky it didn't amputate your head.
Yuk,Yuk :1orglaugh |
Wow, glad to hear you're ok AMP. Fortunately I just checked and my ceiling fans seem pretty secure, but that's scary as hell.
|
|
Damn.... thats fucked.
Big reminder to myself to check that mine is secure - its a bit rickety and noisy |
i always wondered if that ever happend to someone, i've seen a few that look like there ready to come down on someone there a bug out :1orglaugh
|
Did the bolts loosen up and decide to give out today?
This is a good reason why i always check my fan here for loose bolts on it....Every 6 months or so i notice they start to loosen up a lil..nothing major bnut neglected for a long period of time ti would surely give out. You can also use some Blue Loctite on those bolts to keep them secure, drip a bit on the threads wait 10 seconds screw it in and it should harden and lock the threads pretty nicely |

Built mine in with a safety hook bolted up and over a floor board. The entire house could come down but the ceiling fan would still be attached to that floor board.
|
like some evil destruction bound Hell wing looking for blood.....
:1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh I hope youre ok tho...thats scary |
