That happened to me about two weeks ago with the fan above the bed.
Luckily, I was out and came back to see a mangled fan and plaster all over the bed. You were lucky it didn't knock you out or cut you with the blades. It had been wobbly/squeeky for quite a while and I never bothered to fix it. I don't want to put it back up because like was said earlier it will always be in my head now that it is gonna fall again :) |

:1orglaugh, I hope you are ok, maybe these instructions will help you put it back up....
How to Install a Ceiling Fan ... 1. Turn off power to the existing light fixture at the main service panel and test for power. Remove the existing fixture and electrical box http://www.homedepot.com/HDUS/EN_US/...lingfan_01.jpg 2. From the attic, position the brace between ceiling joists so the bottom legs are flush with the bottoms of the joists. http://www.homedepot.com/HDUS/EN_US/...lingfan_02.jpg According to HomeDepot: How Long Will It Take? Replacing a light fixture with a new ceiling fan. EXPERIENCED 2 HRS. INTERMEDIATE 4 HRS. BEGINNER 8 HRS. Stuff You'll Need: Tools: Voltage tester or multitester, screwdrivers, cordless drill. Good thing it just hit you in the head, any other place may have hurt.
Make me wonder if the one over my bed is going to fall. |

Amp, glad to hear you're ok. All my ceiling fans have lights on them.... geez now I have to get my man to check them all. |
The same thing happened to me a few weeks ago...except it was just the light portion that came unattached. Wires were hanging down and sparks flew out. Scary thing to have happen in the middle of the night.
