The stories are just fucking piling up now. I just read a story about them abusing a 12 year old girl. About beating up some mans son and making the father wear womens underwear and beating them and the videos are about to hit very soon.

detainee alleged to have forcibly raped a 15-year old
fellow detainee, and then photographing him naked;

j. (S) Placing a dog chain or strap around a naked
detainee's neck and having a female Soldier pose for a
picture;

k. (S) A male MP guard having sex with a female
detainee;

l. (S) Using military working dogs (without muzzles)
to intimidate and frighten detainees, and in at least
one case biting and severely injuring a detainee;

m. (S) Taking photographs of dead Iraqi detainees.

8. (U) In addition, several detainees also described the
following acts of abuse, which under the circumstances, I
find credible based on the clarity of their statements
and supporting evidence provided by other witnesses
(ANNEX 26):

a. (U) Breaking chemical lights and pouring the
phosphoric liquid on detainees;

b. (U) Threatening detainees with a charged 9mm pistol;

c. (U) Pouring cold water on naked detainees;

d. (U) Beating detainees with a broom handle and a
chair;

e. (U) Threatening male detainees with rape;

f. (U) Allowing a military police guard to stitch the
wound of a detainee who was injured after being slammed
against the wall in his cell;

g. (U) Sodomizing a detainee with a chemical light and
perhaps a broom stick.

h. (U) Using military working dogs to frighten and
intimidate detainees with threats of attack, and in one
instance actually biting a detainee.

It's once again coming back to the action of a small few American soldiers. There's no evidence rumsfeld tried to cover this up, participated, approved of or directed this to happen.

There is evidence that some US soldiers behaved very, very badly. Further more, there is evidence the Army has been investigating this, and pressing charges since long before the media releasted these images. These people will be held accountable.

you've got to be kidding yourself, at first it looked like it was just a few pics and a few people but that was the military trying to shut it down and act as though they had solved it and had it under control. but now it's becoming much more obvious that it was more widespread and orchestrated and encouraged to a large degree in that prison.

hell there are american soldiers back in the us right now telling the stories of it to the media about how it was widespread and occurred often. rumsfeld himself said there is a lot more evidence, so much that if it gets released it would be a major major problem for us.

if 3500 people are found to have been involved that's 1%

If that's the case, wouldn't it suggest that the US policy, dictated from the executive arm, down through the deffense secretary and so on is in fact NOT to behave in this manner. Their written code of conduct CERTAINLY suggests it.

What more can Rumsfeld do? You can't be watching every soldier, personally, at every moment. What makes you think the entire American population will jump to conclusions, as fast as you do?

This doesn't take away from the good service others are doing, but should, can, and will be addressed.

I usually stay away from political threads, but I spent the entire morning watching Rumsfeld and the Generals squirm under the questioning of powerful senators on the Armed Services Committee, which was live on all the major stations.

Rumsfeld protected Bush. The funny part was when one of the Committee Members asked one of the Generals why he went to CBS and asked them to delay the showing of the pictures of the prisoners being tortured. Talk about scrambling. The General should get his ass fired along with Rumsfeld.

They held back information from all of us. They tried to make excuses because allegedly, the American torturers were from a Reserve Unit.

I want pictures of every American soldier who participated in this abuse. I want to look into the eyes of those who have disgraced the US and the US Military.

I am in complete agreement with you. I'm not condoning what those people did. It's horrible.

I hope they're all punished, including all their immediate supervisors.

But to suggest that it should strech all the way up to the top of the chain of command, is absurd.

If this type of behavior was in fact the POLICY of the administration, then it's a different matter. But there's no evidence that's the case.

When the DA announced rape charges against Kobe Bryant, he didn't show you all his evidence. He didn't circulate for the press photos of the rape victim in the hospital. Nothing of the sort. Why? It's an ongoing investigation and there's no need to release photos like this.

You may well WANT pictures of every soldier involved, but that doesn't mean you need them now. Nobody covered this up. Cent. Com. announced this investigation months ago! They just didn't show you all their photo evidence. Why should they?

Due process comes before your "want" to see I'm afraid.

When was the "story" suppressed from the media? Central Command released information regarding the start of investigations, to the media, MONTHS ago.

The only thing the media was asked to do, was not run the pictures just yet. There's no evidence a story was suppressed.

You might want to get informed about what's going on. All the "evidence" to date that we know about is against individual soldiers. Not a single picture exists, that we know of, showing Mr. Rumsfeld abusing any prisoners.
