2 ragheads with AK47s knock down an Apache helicopter.
http://story.news.yahoo.com/fc?cid=3...World&cat=Iraq
Pictures of burning American tanks and helicopters in Iraq. If they're getting their ass handed to them by these 3rd world savages, imagine what would have happened if they faced a real army like the Russians. |
I always find it suprising when guns can take down heavy assault choppers

Considering that every day there are hundreds of flight sorties, that are shot at. Therefore, it's not surprising that 1 of a few thousands shot got lucky :2 cents: |

Too much reliance on shit technology will yet bring the US crashing down in flames, e.g. reliance on the idiotic Missile Shield system. |
Fucking freedom fighters brought down the super-advanced hitech flying marvel with their shitty 3rd-worlder rusty AK47s...

What the hell is this negotiating a cease fire?
OMG.... Thats so weak. Them Shaiia's are gonna think we are really pussies now... That was a really stupid move on the part of US forces. |

An additional problem is that when firing the Hellfire missiles, fragments can fly into the rotors damaging them. To combat this, the pilots have been told to fire missiles only from the right-side pylon. The craft have also proved themselves unsuitable for desert operations, they require repair and maintenance in a ratio greater than 2:1 for hours of flight. Also have to remember these were designed to fight WWIII in Europe, not the deserts of Afghanistan and Iraq. Couple other points to ponder, a new Apache is about $50 million a pop, a Russian Hind-24 Gunship can be bought for about $3 million a pop and were overdesigned to fight in just about any climate. Asymmetric warfare with Buck Rogers whiz bang hardware just isn't going to work in the long run. |

are you too young to remember that? |

I'd love to see some of the major armchair generals here shit thier pants if they ever had to see even just a few seconds of real combat |
Speaking of Arm Chair General's...
Stupidest thing coalition did thus far is actually trying to work a truce with them fucks in Fallujah... Thats total weakness on our part and result is simple the little fucks go and blow up our shit under a cease fire. Thats typical of these piece of shit fanatics. Its definatly another Vietnam. The gear top notch but with half ass attempts to subdue opposition its gonna be over. |
Additionally, Iraqis are hardly 3rd world savages, their warrior culture pre-dates just about anyone in the western world, not to mention agriculture, writing, mathematics, etc. All the science the West has at its disposal has its roots around Baghdad.

Take a look at that pic... WTF is M1 a tank doing on a fucken highway surrounded by buildings and overpasses?? Thats half assed field work. I play alot of wars sim's and have played tactical war games most of my life as a hobby. I am one of them one of those dorks that have that kind of hobby. This pic is proof field commanders have no fucken clue what they are doing over there. |

More proof of Coalition failure here... Please, its called escourting. Convoy's are getting iced because they are not be protected properly. Proper protection would be flying Cobra's or 64's with them convoys. Standard practice in warfare is to disrupt lifelines and resources. When these pictures started hitting the news, ya can tell its half assed bullshit tactics on the field that are wiping convoy'sleft and right... |

who doesn't say that all around this one roud are bunches of mines just waiting for a tank rolling over it. I think you should leave those decisions to guys who fought REAL and not with mousepad and a keyboard :arcadefre :321GFY |
Thats not a mine blast.
The damage is above the treads and rear. Peepsinside were prolly fried. Meaning some fuck hit from above... |
yeah sure that was no mine. I served in the army myself a long time and have a quite good clue of things like that, but what I'm trying to say is that paved roads don't get blocked by mines, coz they are too visible. But if a road is the one and only chance of passing a minefield left and right of the road you probably take the road and not the minefield don't you?!

See top illustration. The top rear of the tank where the engine is. Thats where it was hit. No RPG could do that unless it was hit exactly at the top rear. If RPG was fired on level with the tank there is very little chance of it gettin taken out, nearly impossible. Top rear is very weak in armor thus why the turret is extended in the M1 design. M1 is an awesome tank but when it does not have proper support in a bad position on a field its a sitting duck. |
"But if a road is the one and only chance of passing a minefield left and right of the road you probably take the road and not the minefield don't you?!"
No ya dont take the road. Mines in the field serve one purpose. TO guide your enemy where ya want theenemy to go. The field commander on this fell for it hook line and sinker like an idiot. |
The mines where just an example that most of the circumstances why this tank has been knocked out are not visible in one picture. That means you and I can't judge that...
perhaps someone pooed down from the bridge hitting the cooland system overheating it and making the ammo explode...know what I mean?! :winkwink: |
If tactics were done properly, the juncture's to enter the urban area would have been leveled enough for forces to enter safely, possible vantage points would have been knocked down.
There should be NOTHING around that tank as far as buildings, over passes at least for 1/2 mile... |

I finally ordered Battlefield1942 after 7-8 months of playing the demo :thumbsup Maybe I will try the desert combat mod, which is pretty much exactly the same weaponry.
Also BF Vietnam came out, but I wonder if it's any good. |

I like to play MS flight simulator but I don't think I could fly a 747 better than a real pilot does. |

Same goes on for those B-2 Stealth shit bombers they can't even fly without the board computer, it's only a waste of money :) |

It's ok for multiplayer but don't plan buying it if you wanna play it in single mode cause it's boring |

A shame that perfectly good American citizens are dying so that Bush can play army and fight for the freedom of people lack the resolve to fight for thier own independance.
They published a list of all the people from Indiana that have died in this goddamn pointless war, thier hometowns and thier ages in the paper today. Most of the kids hadnt even seen 25 yet. A substantial portion of them havent even legally had thier first beer yet - they were under 21. Not even old enough to run for the office of the guy who marched them off to die in his little war. What a goddamn travesty. Since George Bush thinks this war is so vital, he should lead the next regiment to battle like they did in the old days. Let him carry the flag of the country he so loudly proclaims his love for. Right out there in front. Then he can come back to us and talk about patriotism and being a good citizen. That is, if he dosent come home in a hahahaha bag. |
