One time announcement: Leaving the industry

I've been working with online porn for almost 6 years now, and it's been a fun time. However, I'm now at the point where porn is starting to get in the way of my other endeavors, with regards to both time and association.

Simply put, I was forced to decide between spending my life reading 1000-page books, writing tons upon tons of essays, papers, etc and having seemingly endless discussions about minor details with dull old professors, or making craploads of money for looking at hot naked chicks all day. The choice was obvious :winkwink:

So, bye all.

And cheers :glugglug

CyberTraffic 02-14-2004 04:00 AM

Gonna unload your stuff? How much if so?

EDIT: Sorry for the rushed post. I don't understand your post; have you recieved a degree?

If so, congratufukinlations.

Libertine 02-14-2004 04:05 AM

Not gonna sell anything. Most of my sites don't really require maintenance, so I'm just gonna stop spending time on porn. If all goes well, the income will only slowly drop, and it'll take quite some time before it stops altogether. :glugglug

Goodbye and good luck. It's sad to loose a GFY poster with a
fully-functioning brain. They're few and far between.

In a few months, you will come back to online porn - as a surfer :Graucho

Thanks to those who replied.

I won't be back though, studying philosophy, writing and some activist projects take up way too much of my time. Even though the money from porn is nice - or rather, extremely, very, ridiculously fucking nice - some things are simply more important than money.
One only lives once, might as well make the most of it :glugglug

wyldblyss 02-14-2004 07:21 AM

Porn will always be here if you every want to come back...but I think you are making the right decision. Good luck!

nosey 02-14-2004 07:23 AM

I always have respect for people that can walk away from money because of principles, but I'll never be able to do that (or I just haven't found the right reasons yet). And I wonder what activist projects you are talking about? But: good for you, I hope you'll never regret it!

good luck with your philosophy shop.

other than bars and restaurants, philosophy shops have the worst failure rate of all small businesses, most fail in their first 6 months.

Just principles wouldn't do it for me either. It's more about doing what I love, working with the things that really interest me.

The activist projects are mainly critiques of mass consumption and the stranglehold of commercial mass media on democracy. Also some other stuff, but I can't really get into that now.

When you do what you love, money doesnt mather I think.

The activist projects sound like some heavy stuff! Interesting!
