I won't be back though, studying philosophy, writing and some activist projects take up way too much of my time. Even though the money from porn is nice - or rather, extremely, very, ridiculously fucking nice - some things are simply more important than money.
One only lives once, might as well make the most of it :glugglug

Punkworld, your thoughts remind me of the Chicago 10 and alot of guys I new in my hippy days Abbey Hoffman, Tom Hayden, etc...:1orglaugh

They all said they would never go with the establishment and the money :helpme

In the end they all left the idealism behind and became businessmen and congressmen and WENT FOR THE MONEY!!!

In the end you will get tired of the mainstream and theoretical
philosophical bullshit and come back where you belong, with us pimps and whores who like money, houses cars, naked women, stripclubs, wild parties, young pussy and lot's of drinks!!

Good luck til you come back though:thumbsup

Abbey Hoffman never lost his idealism, he never sold out. I believe he committed suicide because he got so depressed that the rest of his generation, the Rubins and Haydens, sold out.

One of the reasons I'll really miss GFY is that there are so many wondrous ideas here.

For instance, a while ago tons of newbies were saying that there's no more money in porn. Now, it seems a bunch of veterans are thinking that there's no money outside of porn :1orglaugh

Seriously, leaving the industry does not mean living in poverty, nor does activism mean becoming a broke hippie.

Just principles wouldn't do it for me either. It's more about doing what I love, working with the things that really interest me.

The activist projects are mainly critiques of mass consumption and the stranglehold of commercial mass media on democracy. Also some other stuff, but I can't really get into that now.

Word up dude. I've been reading a ton of books lately on those that subject. Here two off the top of my head I bet you have heard of them : "no logo" "jihad vs mcworld". I almost wanted to quit my job and become a gypsy... take care.

bluff 02-14-2004 09:39 AM

You're making two mistakes in your reasoning. First, you assume that the money outside of porn will be bad. Second, you fail to realize the importance of doing something you actually love doing.

There's more to life than money, really. Money is great, ofcourse, but it isn't really of any use if you have to sacrifice something far more important for it, namely happiness.

Life is short, and all you have is some time. You can either use that time to make tons of money, so you can have a really nice burial or whatever, or you can use it doing the things you really want, and make money while doing those things.

For me, the choice is clear. :glugglug

What does no longer working on adult sites have to do with whether or not one posts on a message board? Unless one "found religion" I have never understood these abrupt dumping of an entire community of friends/acquaintances posts...

Oh, I'm not dumping the adult community. It's just that I used to come to GFY in between work, for entertainment and to see if there was any news in the industry. Since I'll be spending considerably less time online than before, I probably won't spend any significant amount of time on gfy anymore.

Besides, there are too many surfers on this board already as is, no need to add to that :winkwink:

Why do you people find it so hard to accept that other people may place value on other things than you do? :helpme

Hell, I'd gladly live in poverty for the rest of my life if I could get the story I'm working on right now on paper the way I want it. Money is important, but for me, it's not the most important thing in life.

Jeez, you people sure get offended when someone doesn't share your worldview :2 cents:

hey! I accept your choice ... I'm just in adult biz as long as you are and have seen these "leaving threads" several times ... also a few friends of mine left adult biz ... they are all back ... except one who sell all sites and he don't know how to start again :)

... you're keeping all your sites ... good for ya man! :1orglaugh

Rorschach 02-14-2004 08:17 PM
