Every fucking restaurant chain now has some type of 'Atkins Friendly' meal on the menu not to mention stupid fucking fast food (now theres an oymoron) joints like BK and MCD's.

it's funny this diet was HUGE 4 - 5 years ago, all over the papers, etc... then it died down a bit, Dr. Atkins died and the diet is bigger than ever.

now Donatos (sp) pizza is going to have a low-carb pizza made with soy protein and no crust

I'm THRILLED that this is happening. I love the Atkins lifestyle. In addition to helping people control their weight, it can also lower cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar. I personally know several people who have had these results while on Atkins.

That usually only happens to people with weak kidneys (kidney disease or transplant patients and such). The Atkins diet is not recommended with people with weak kidneys except under direct doctor's supervision.

hmmm... ok,

here is my thought... carbs are a normal part of our recomended intake. we need them. They cary 4 calories per gram just like protien. fats cary 9, alcohol (my favorite) carries 7.5 grams. Most people making it big on atkins are doing it because they are actually watching what they eat. It is a fucking placebo is all...

Point is - you should try my new Davis diet. Strictly alcohol. (so much easier calories to burn!)

Atkins has gone crazy, people will jump on any bandwagon.

to show you how much of a craze it is. the potato farmers/companies are sending out 10% less potatoes around north america because of the low carb craze.

We are all trying to lose weight. I think it's great. The Atkin's diet is the only one that ever worked for me. It's only been the last 12 months that I've been able to get into the gym regularly, which of course is the right way.

Yes, you are right. For the fat people who have issues about losing weight the diet (wol) is making some restaurants rich by offering the Atkins menu.

Anyone serious about losing weight and maintaining probably doesn?t eat at fast food places; who wants a burger patty from x-cows? meat induced with chemicals and sodium to taste good.

Fat people are always on diets and fail, and fast food marketers are finally tapping into this moneymaking market. Kind of sad that some prey on fat people and their problems by offering shit food, but what the hell, if one buys into the marketing crap it is their fault.

Take the Slick diet, I have 3 steps to help you lose weight.

1 - You can eat what you want, but eat smaller portions.
2 - Try to walk more. When you go to the store, park far away rather than up front or just take a walk once a day or every other day even.
3 - Drink LOTS of water. You should take half of your weight and drink that many ounces of water, so if you're 190lbs, drink 95 ounces of water a day.

If you follow that, you'll loose weight. It's not that hard to do. Heck, I should put those steps in a book and sell them for $20 :Graucho

If you're a fatfuck who don't exercise you just can't lose weight. You're lose some with Atkins maybe but you'll regain weight after sooner or later. There's no special recipes to lose weight without exercising. Hit the gym and do sport or die as a fatfuck. See all those persons who were fat and started to go at the gym at least 3 times a week and without stopping like a coward .. there's not 1 dissapointed.

Atkins is a lifestyle, not a diet, exactly, so like any "diet", if you go back to eating the way you used to, then you will gain the weight back. But Atkins has a method to go back to eating some cerbohydrates without losing weight. If you stick to the maintenence diet then you will not gain your weight back, but you can eat things like potatoes and bread again, just not alot of it.

When you think about it, alot of low-calorie diets are also low in carbs. My mother was given a 1200 calorie a day diet by her doctor many years ago. A great majority of the things that she was allowes to eat were not only low in calories, but also low in carbohydrates. For example, for breakfast she would eat a boiled egg, a slice of cheese and a cup of milk, for lunch she would eat some tuna on lettuce and for dinner she would eat a broiled chicken breast and broccoli. Sounds alot like the Atkins diet except she was hungry alot because she was strictly limited on the amount of food she could eat, but on Atkins you aren't limited and you don't get so hungry.

I hear so many people crying for the fat fucks to stop being lazy and have some willpower. "Just stop eating, you fat fuckers!" But how many of them have habits that you just can't seem to quit? Overeating is alot like smoking, drinking or drugs. It can be VERY addictive and studies have even shown that some people can have withdrawal-like symptoms when dieting. It's not always as simple as willpower. For an overweight person, going on a diet like Atkins can be like a smoker using nicotine gum or the patch, or a drug addict taking methadone.

I tried atkins once... that thing does weird shit to your body. Maybe I'm a little hypoglycemic or something, but I always felt out of energy and constantly, constantly craving sugary things. Or a salad. Or bread.

My mouth always felt like I'd been sucking on a stick of butter.

I knew it was time to give it up when I went to give blood and passed out. The nurse gave me a small glass of OJ and it was like someone poured the food of the gods in my mouth. I promptly went to 7-11, grabbed a bag of M+Ms and a large coke slurpee, and within a half hour I was feeling better than I ever had before in my life.

Later on I just decided to eat sanely, do slightly calorie reduced with more gym time, dropped 50 pounds and felt great while doing it. I gotta get back to that gym though... project I've been working on lately has had me doing 16 hour days, and I'm starting to spread again. :xomunch

If you replace "atkins once" with "heroin a lot" you might see what the real problem is.

Carbohydrate addiction is killing America. The bread companies 0wn Congress and stick all that bullshit into the "food pyramid."
