The *F* word in business email
So I received this email this morning and the sender used the word "Fuck" in the text.
I was very offended! Don't get me wrong: I use this word outloud and with my friends on a daily basis, but never do I swear in any business communication. Am I out of line feeling this was rude and unprofessional? |
Fuck him.
|
very unprofessional, i would never answer that person.
|
What was the context? Was it a business email promoting a porn site, with text that says "Girls Fuck on Camera!" or what?

just tell him shut the fuck up.. lol
Not very professional but we are in the adult entertainment industry, not the boyscouts. |
fuck that
the fucking industry is fucking responsible for the fucking use of fuck every-fucking-where i fucking hate that too well fuck it |
Oh please, It's 2004
Shut the fuck up Values = Gone since Elvis, Quit being a freedom of speach holder backer I wouldn't have a problem with the pope using curse words THEY'RE JUST WORDS. and even less meaningful and I'd assume less offensive online in the form of text, How can you post at goFUCKyourself.com and have a problem with "fuck"... Professional, Personal, Let it be the same We're all at the mercy of uncle sam gripping our balls in his palms of imprisionment |

I think it depends on the context in which it was used, but it still does reflect poorly on the person using it.
But hey, this is a private communication between two individuals; not like it was posted in a memo and forwarded to 1000 employees. |
THere is a certan lvl of conduct you should maintain when doing business... if your on GFY or at a bar or anything like that fucken swear all fuckity fucken day fucken long. But when you contucting busniess.. inho... keep it professional

You're posting on a board called gofuckyourself and making money of people fucking on camera. Unless it was an unwarranted "Fuck you!", you should just shut the fuck up about it.
|
This board is called GOFUCKYOURSELF.COM and there is more adult business done here than anywhere else on the planet i would think. There is no stigma attached to the word FUCK in this business. I cant believe something like that would be posted here or that you would be offended by it yet visit this site.

Hey madcap
Fuck you!! |

If a customer of mine started asking me WTF I would be less concerned about his ettiquite than keeping my customers satisfied. You bet if I was paying for something and wasn't satisfied and as pissed off as I can get you would get an e-mail with a lot worse than WTF in it.
|
I would never swear in a professional business communication.
I save that for GFY. |
I think if he/she had said that to you in person it would have been something to take offense at, but to me email is an impersonal form of communication and you need not take offense.
|
What a fucking cunt!
|
freedom of speech is alot of the time abused, but legal
|
I was going to say something... but fuck it.
|
Lighten the fuck up.
|
Just because we are in the porn business does not mean morals, or etiquette go out the window.
I personally wouldn't have sweat it, but that would have depended upon who sent it and the perceived tone. If it were a WTF YOU IDIOT! Type email it would be handled much more differently than a..."Hey how's it going here is that order request for your services...I got up this morning and realized what the fuck? I never sent it to you." |
What the fuck?

I'm glad my clients don't get upset about stuff like that, I wouldn't have any! I like getting on a personal level with my clients and I like them to do the same to me. Asking me how my day is, mentioning a hot fucking chick, etc is all part of building a good solid relationship even if that means using less than savory words.
Furthermore, I'm sitting around building sites all day where every other word is "fuck", "blow job", "anal sex", and "midget butt fucking". Saying "what the fuck?" is almost second nature. It's not even thought of, it just happens. |
Does "WTF" in my title offend anyone?
|
LOL, it really depends on what context the word "FUCK" was used.
As you know the word can mean lots of things if someone is pissed "FUCK YOU" when you give up "Fuck it" to have sex "I fucked her" etc. etc. etc. don't be so damn sensitive |

I'm glad someone has had the courage to stand up on this matter....
In Fact, i think the name of this place should be changed to Go THANK yourself.com dedicated to the development of a morally heightend community standard so....Go ThankYourself |

I've got a potty mouth, comes from working in a tattoo shop for 4 years, and from working in this biz.. I cant help it.. And if me saying fuck to someone affects the money we make together, they need to sell fucking bibles or something...
Media |
It's all about the context. For example, if someone from GFY or the tradeshows included the phrase "What the fuck?" in an email to me. I wouldn't think twice about it.
If my Banker, Lawyer, Accountant, Doctor, etc.. wrote it I would be pissed off. So I'd say, if it's someone from the industry that you know well, then let it slide. If not, just don't do business with them. |

Then later, he took some nitrogen and tried to freeze my mocha with it.. it worked, and he said "this is the coolest shit"... Will I go back to see him? You bet.. cuz he's a cool motherfucker who can get down and talk on my level without feeling insecure about it.. I respect that.. |
