IS THIS ANY GOOD: Adobe Photoshop CS Total Training.

Its a shame that I am a webmaster and I dont even know html or how to use photoshop..

Last time I opened up and played with photoshop was back in 1996 when I was still in College and I was in a computer lab fucking around..

I wanna learn it.
Is this program any good for learning it?

boneprone 01-21-2004 04:58 PM

im serious.

Digipimp 01-21-2004 04:59 PM

Never heard of it myself.

boneprone 01-21-2004 05:00 PM

Ive been going crazy buying programs and the learing DVD's to learn how to opperate em..

I just bough Photoshop CS, also Adobe Premiere Pro.

I bought like an 8 hour DVD that was supposed to be good to teach me Premiere, since that fucking program doesnt seem to have a good learning curve..

Now I wanna get something good to learn photoshop..

No books please.. I hate books.

I need something i can watch on TV as im eating my Pizza and learning at the same time..

I like the book version

It is funny that some of the guys that make the most money do not know photoshop or html !

I was talking to other webmasters with the same problem ........... it just goes to show it is all about marketing !

boneprone 01-21-2004 05:02 PM

Most these programs, the best way to learn is to just load it and play around with it and learn things on your own as ya go along...

Only problem is, Ill play with it, get frustrated, and rather than try to figure it out ill just come to GFY and fuck around..

So that doesnt work..

I need something that I can go to the TV room and watch..

No distractions.

Yeah man.
I know very little html. Just how to copy and paste links and images..

Photoshop... Like I said I havent opened up that program since 1996.. And I didnt like it or understand it then!

boneprone 01-21-2004 05:04 PM

come to think of it, I dont know anything about the fucking internet when it comes to webpages and the tech aspects...

Go figure..

boneprone 01-21-2004 05:06 PM

I guess thats why God made Turks and Russians..

To help me with my programing, designs, and consulting for cheap.

Seems simple to me.

Why learn it when you can just hire someone for cheap..

Thats what Ive thought for the past 5-6 years.

boneprone 01-21-2004 05:15 PM

Id be more intrested in a crash course in Video Editing.

Adobe Premiere, break out boxes and Pinnacle DV500DVD, and DVD to mpeg and wmv content shit.

tootie 01-21-2004 05:26 PM

I've thought about giving that a try. I make my living with Photoshop and it's also my favorite hobby, but I always feel I can learn more. I've spent a small fortune on Photoshop books and now I'm learning Illustrator. I haven't tried any video learning yet, though.

I tried a demo of CS and I'm glad I didn't buy it yet. I'll wait until they fix some things first.

SetTheWorldonFire 01-21-2004 05:27 PM

well... the only thing stopping you from learning is yourself.

I personally think books are the best to learn with. You just sit in the drivers seat and do what the book tells you. Tutorials are also good, free, and all over the internet.

It's all downhill after that. :thumbsup

boneprone 01-21-2004 05:28 PM

who am i fucking kidding..

I bet Im gunna shell out tons of cash for all these fucking programs, shell out cash for all the DVDs and books to learn how to use em, and they will just sit in my closet for 2 years until they are outdated and Ill go through this all over again..

Never even breaking the seal on the boxes..

I went to College for 7 years...

When I graduated with my Masters I made a promise to myself to NEVER read another book again..

ITs a promise I plan to keep..

I hate books.

tootie 01-21-2004 05:29 PM

If I don't have 'em by then, look me up. I might take them off your hands. LOL

Seriously, Photoshop is alot of fun once you learn it. I love it.

Hmmm...

Wilber 01-21-2004 05:39 PM

I looked at the demo clips and I think $299.00 for 7 DVDs is a great
price for this product.

One of the keys to tutorial videos is to not waste audio space
with unnecessary dialog plus that dialog should flow smooth
with an attention-getting style voice. I think this author has
great skills in video tutorials.

You are assuming I know what the hell this means.

crockett 01-21-2004 05:52 PM

hit up 3dbuzz.com he has a free VTM on photoshop will give you the basics..

thekebie 01-21-2004 05:52 PM

The videos can be good for getting the basic stuff down. But will probably not help you figure out how to do any super usefull effects or stuff when it comes to making website stuff with photoshop besides editing pictures. Which can be good if you want to learn photoshop to touch your photos up.

The videos are way easier to learn from then anything else though, because they show you exactly where to point and what not. I used a 3D Studio Max one awhile ago after giving up on using online tutorials.

The online tutorials are great because you will see some cool looking effect or something on some other site and usually the online tutorials will show you exactly how to do it.

LOL

I wish I knew if it would be worth it for me to spend that much on it. I'd hate to spend $299 to learn what I've already learned on my own and from several hundred dollars in books. :)

My husband would kill me for wasting that kind of money if I couldn't learn anything new.

MrsJFPDude 01-21-2004 05:58 PM

I learned the basics from vtc.com

It is $25 a month and it has alot of programs you can learn
besides just photoshop.
