ompi crashed his bike, he's in bad shape

John Morgan, (ompi) was in a terrible motorcycle wreck last night and has a bunch of broken bones in his back. He is definitely not ok and I don't have to tell you what those kind of injuries mean. I owe him bigtime so whatever he needs I gotta get or do for the man. He is in ICU right now, in Kenneston Hospital in Marietta.

I don't know what he may need but will find out and keep u posted. I may be playing nurse dokk for a while, if that's what he needs, that's what he gets.

Oh, Dokk...this is so not good....

Prayers, first of all to John....

And, let me know if there's something I can do...I'll be in touch with Pattyecake as soon as I get home.

Mr.Thumbs, my dear. Please don't say things like that...not now...these are friends of ours...and, regardless of what you might think...at the moment, we are hurting for them and their loved ones....we can think about the curses and other bullshit...after the crisis passes.

Holy Shit, Dokk! This is awful! Why does it seem that all the horrible stuff happens to the best people? Please send John & Sunny my well wishes... and please, let me know if there's anything I can do to help in any way. He's got my phone number, but I don't think that'll do any good right now, so ICQ me if you think of anything. 121755105

=Sending lots of good energy that way=

Best wishes and a speedy and full recovery to your friend, dokk. If you need to talk, you know I'm here for you. [email protected] or 3522039 on icq.

John (Ompi) is one of the very few people to beat me in 8ball.
This is no way to get out of the rematch, either....

Our prayers are with you, John

RedBumper 10-05-2003 03:18 AM

Send him our best dokk and take care of him........ don't forget to take care of yourself 2 :thumbsup

venturi 10-05-2003 04:20 AM

dokk, I was on the phone with Pattyecake when the news came in today. While I don't know ompi (John) that well, only thru sporatic chatroom convos and a brief meeting at Internext, I do know that he is one of the true gems in this business and pretty much your best friend in the world.
Mishi and I send all the best of wishes to him and his family and peoples, and most importantly now HIM. If there is ANYTHING that we can do to help please do not hesitate to ask.

We are all in this life together and the one thing that remains constant is that being there for each other is the most important thing we can do to fullfil our lives. It's been a very tough couple days for me and even more difficult for you and others. Know that I am here whenever you need anything.

To John (ompi), get well kind soul and never give up. You are a pillar of strength and determination and I know you will continue to be so now even in your time of suffering and pain. Stay strong and know that there are hundreds of us that are backing you up and supporting you in your recovery.

edit: i keep forgetting to turn my sig off on these threads. :(

dokk 10-05-2003 05:40 AM

I am gonna pass on everybody's good wishes to John. Good news is they are pretty sure he will be able to walk again some day because he can wiggle his toes. He's a big mess of broken bones and when you're not in your teens anymore those things don't heal up too fast! I guess the old saying there are only 2 kinds of motorcycle riders.. those who wreck and those who will still apply. I broadsided a car in one at 70+ and slid another under a boat trailer that turned in front of me at an intersection so can definitely relate. Never got busted up like ompi, he is going to have a long path to recovery. I'm just wishing for him they can hurry up and get to going on putting all the pieces back together like they're supposed to be and get him outa that ICU so I can smuggle him in some Krystal burgers and beer. ;-))

Tipsy 10-05-2003 06:17 AM

Some good news at least. I was going to ask if he would be able to walk etc. Seems he was lucky in a funny sort of way.

All my best to the guy and hope he heals quickly. Hope they're pumping enough pain killers into him. Must hurt like hell.

Hank_Heartland 10-05-2003 07:51 AM

Dokk,

Sorry to hear about Big John...I consider him a good friend. If I can do anything let me know. Big John, you made it through Vietnam you will make it through this OK!!!!

vicki 10-05-2003 09:00 AM

John is a friend to so many of us (me included).
This is terrible news and my best wishes are with him for a full recovery.

Dokk thanks for keeping us informed

That sounds like good news to me. I know in these situations, doctors are reluctant to say anything that sounds even remotely positive. Mark (my hubby) wrecked his bike several years ago... broken femur, shattered pelvis... etc... and he was told he'd not walk for quite some time and that he would always have a limp. Well, after a month in traction we got him out of the hospital AMA and he quickly recovered his ability to walk and doesn't have a limp.

So... hearing that John can wiggle his toes sheds a great deal of positive light on the situation and I am so happy to hear it. And as far as smuggling goodies into the hospital... I got pretty good at that during Mark's stay, so let me know if he'd like me to slip anything in sometime. :rasta

Thank you, Dokk, for the update and please keep us informed on his progress. :thumbsup

dokk 10-05-2003 02:03 PM

Here's the update for today: John was a victim of a hit and run driver, a 16 year old kid that was in his mom's SUV. The little fuck took off and left John in the street, tried to hide the vehicle but the police found him. Since he's 16 they may not be able to prosecute him but they may go after him as an adult, it depends on things i don't know much about.

John has to get more tests and they still can't start putting him back together until later and they are still worried about his head and his lungs.

I have passed along the good wishes and will continue to do that. I am sure he will appreciate all the nice things you guys have said about him. He has insurance and money so the schmucks that were waiting for a paypal link can just keep on waiting, he doesn't need money, he needs mojo.

All the best,

dokk

Good to hear he's doing better, Dokk - thanks for the updates! :) After going through my own cycle accident and being told I'd never walk w/o a severe limp, I can say the doctors aren't always right. A stubborn mind can get your body through a lot of things, lol!

Since you're in GA, I'm sure you're aware of the 17 year old nitwit Wendy Jennings who the judge just decided to try as an adult because she was racing and killed someone. That's an EXCELLENT precedent to nail this 16 year old if he took off. GA (and other states) need to get it through their heads that if you're not going to treat a 16-17 year old as an adult, then don't give them a license to drive a 3000+ pound vehicle.

Seems to me..in Georgia...anyone over the age of 16 who commits a crime......is treated as an adult.

Oh, Dokk......this is way too much...and I send you and John and Sunny big hugs and prayers....

Any mojo I might have...it's yours..to pass on to John.

Unfortunately it usually depends on how good a lawyer they have and how much $$$ they have. :( 16-17 year olds aren't automatically treated as an adult if they have committed a crime - it must go before a judge and a decision to treat them as an adult must be made by the judge.

sweetums 10-05-2003 03:11 PM

Whoa....I don't usually pray, but that's twice in one weekend...

Don't know ompi....but my very best thoughts are going out to him and his family.

Dokk....all the mojo I've got is his :)

Sigh...

Where we lived in Georgia...the cops were pretty big on treating kids as adults, especially if they committed adult type crimes..so, I guess we'll see..and, you're right about the lawyering up part....

Let's hope the judge sees this for what it is....

sextoyking 10-05-2003 06:22 PM

Dokk,

Thanks for the updates on John.

He is one of the best and greatest people in our industry. The first time I met him a few years ago, it didn't take but a minute to know how good a person he is.

Shit, don't know if I wanna ride my hog again....

peace
