Don't know ompi, but wish him all the best and fast 100% recovery.
|
OMG this is very very bad news.
|
Shit...
Dokk, tell John that Jon from Silver Web sends his regards. Hope he gets better. He's a good guy. |
Here is the latest update on John. He has a fractured pelvis, thorax, lumbar and some other bones i can't think of the name of. They have ordered another catscan for him but his spirits are picking up, they have him on some smooth meds. Since these are big fractures they have not said anything about having to go in and do surgery or put pins in him yet so that is very good news indeed. He is still of course in ICU until they get things sorted out.
All the best, dokk |
Dokk,
Is there an update on John? I remember when he drove that bike to your house for your party a couple of summers ago. I live just a few miles from John, let me know if I can do anything. - Grinder |
I can relate to that, I broke my back in two places and it's not a nice experiance.
I hope he gets on the road to recovery. All the best. |
what kind of a bike did he have?
|
Hope he gets better fast. I don't know him or you Dokk but I too would like to wish him a full recovery and will pray for that.
|
damn, that blows.
Tell him I wish him a speedy recovery! |
Sorry to hear that, hope he gets well soon...

My lead Unix programmer was in a motorcycle accident about three years ago. He was in a coma and had his leg removed. When he woke up he was not able to see and today is legally blind. But the moral to this story is that you should not feel sorry for these guys. They know the bikes are dangerous, they see friends dropping dead on them but they continue to ride. They accept the dangers in exchange for the joy they get from it. When the danger catches up with them feeling sorry helps no one. My buddy the UNIX guy, still programs using Emac on his Linux box. It is amazing just to be around him. He is positive and happy and looking forward to the things he can do with only one leg and no vision. He is a big inspiration for me.

I guess the question is for anyone, not just Dokk. How is John doing now, a few months later? |

The accident occurred about 10:20 pm October 3rd 2003.
I was riding home after a day of riding in the mountains with friends. Just as I was about to make the right turn into my subdivision from a 40 mph road, the whole world light up like you would think a UFO was about to pick you up and I was out. Unconscious until the paramedics arrived I woke up with them securing my head, neck, back and legs. There were a lot of them, maybe six or so and a lot of police. They saw that I had awakened and started talking to me for reassurance. I have to tell you, it was scary right then but they told me I had been hit by a hit and run driver and that it was witnessed and that they were going to get the bastard. The vehicle that hit me was a 1999 silver Infiniti SUV driven by a sixteen year old boy who had his license for a little less than three months. After the collision the SUV slid into the yard of a corner house at the intersection. The resident there came out thinking the SUV was in trouble but it sped off tearing up their yard. The resident got the plate and then noticed me in the street. If not for them calling 911 and directing traffic around me I would have been run over again for sure. There are no lights on that road but it is a well traveled two lane road. The impact totaled my 1999 Harley Davidson Road King but knocked off enough parts from the SUV to further identify it by numbers. The police went to the kid?s house that evening where he told them he had not been involved in any accident. They made the parents open the garage and from police accounts, the parents were surprised to find their son?s SUV wrecked. The kid then denied hitting a motorcycle but the police had brought enough parts from his vehicle to make a positive match. He is charged with felony hit and run, leaving scene, vehicular assault and some other small charges. He was not arrested and he will be tried as a Juvenile. I was wearing a novelty helmet in accordance with the laws in Georgia. I was also wearing a heavy shirt, fingerless gloves and chaps. My injuries included a concussion, broken ribs, a broken tailbone, a broken right hip, three fractures in my pelvis and a bunch of little stuff that is just consequences of that type of accident. Please excuse the long post but I have tried to answer everyone?s questions. I hardly ever post anywhere but the people who showed the love and caring for me, knowing me or not really got to me in a good way. I am sure that your prayers and well wishes are what has enabled me to recover this far and someday to 100% in the near future. If there is ever anything I can do for you don?t hesitate to ask. I really feel that I owe. I have the right motorcycle and medical insurance thankfully. For those of you that do know me, you know who my best friend is and that he was there for me all the way. Thank you very much for your caring support through this ordeal. |
I am so glad you came out of this okay.....:)
Tev's and my prayers were with you all the way.....and, thanks to Pattyecake, we knew you were going to come back to us. |
Im glad you are ok.
And you seem to have pretty good spirit too :) On the other hand, it goes to show that contrary to popular belief: People on bikes are not dangerous. People in luxury SUV and dumb kids are. |
Glad to hear things are looking up for you, John! :)

I got hit by a hit n run driver in a uhaul truck. Totaled my brand new Victory Vegas and left me unable to walk for 5 months. Witnesses got his plates to, he's looking at a shitload of felony charges, not to mention civil lawsuits from me and my insurance companies. The thing that has pissed me off the worst, is now the wife says no more bikes. I been riding for 22 years and have one accident thats not my fuckin fault. Man shes gonna be pissed when I buy the next one. |
:thumbsup Right on John. It's great to hear you're gonna be ok. And you're even luckier to have the friends that you do. You will always know who your homeboys are.
Now... on another note... when are we gonna see you in some chaps? :Graucho |
