I suppose I am an insider :)

teenjump 09-17-2003 05:16 PM

Well see, I want to move there for awhile. But I HATE the traveller visa they have. 3 months only at a job? That's gay, who would hire you.

So I am looking for something a little better than that - wondering what my options are if any. And does sponsoring a person get them in.

IE. should I get hitched with a chick on the net for a free ride in? Kidding.

Any ideas where to start?
I started on the immigration site but the thing is so vague and focuses a lot on "cheat us and be kicked out."

Bake 09-17-2003 05:31 PM

Hmm why move out here? there are as many +and - for this

Most Canadians looking for a transition find Australia to be the best bet, as it is similar to Canada in many ways. We come from the same backgrounds... same sort of traditions - we are close without really knowing it in ways.

It's exotic and exciting, but still not TOO far away from home. :)
Woah, AWW you saying you wanted to sponsor me and give me a job? WOW! j/k

teenjump 09-17-2003 05:49 PM

It is ilegal to have it on a server hosted here

Great place to live - people are still encouraged to think over here :)

We are Aussie.

Kevin2 09-17-2003 10:11 PM

Australia is a great country and there is a lot to see if you have the time to travel. In the past 3 years I've had one holiday because I'm too busy :1orglaugh

[xsbar] 09-17-2003 10:17 PM

Just got granted my residency, it toolk 2 applications, a wedding and 2 000 euros processing costs. Wonder why australian pay taxes. You have got to pay for everything down here. France was cheaper but Australia rules.

Get the working holliday visa and come down here ... you'll sort things out then. I'll do it quick to be there for the world cup, looks like it is going be fun.

jimmy3way 09-17-2003 10:31 PM

I'd step on my own mother's neck to call myself an Australian.

I already have the appropriate attire, I have five pairs of Blundies and ten pairs of cargo shorts.

spooky181 09-18-2003 01:29 AM

In my daytime job I teach a lot of foreign business people who come here for 1 or 2 years, and they are always very upset when they have to leave to go to their next country. They love the easy lifestyle, and comfort of living.

I'm in Melbourne and it may not be the most spectacular city but like all the other main cities it has a really relaxed atmosphere. Look forward to having you here you won't regret it. :)

Spooky

it's perfect as it is...no need to tell everyone and start some
mass migration :Graucho

btw we are currently sponsoring 2 ppl
if you can find someone to sponsor you first and then apply

Don't worry, before you know it the Gold Coast will look like Cabramatta.

One suggestion if your moving to Australia, visit Sydney but don't move here. Sydney is turning into a bigger shithole by the day!

Let?s see, we have the racial vilification act which outlaws any speech based on race, and certain opinions. This does not just outlaw words like '******' but also certain thoughts - i.e. that the idea of 6 Million Jews dieing in WWII is exaggerated.

Than we have ASIO's new powers, which I am sure you are aware of. I know of two people who have had ASIO raid their house (take their computers, etc) for posting anti-immigration remarks on an internet forum.

Furthermore, ASIO now has the power to arrest people for posting things on the internet (this one is mainly aimed at the Communist groups which organise large-scale protests) which could result in any type of 'violent protest' (yeah, very vague terminology, no?) or links to sites which promote such.

Than we have Pauline Hanson and David Ettridge sitting in gaol. Now, if you don't think they are there because of their opinion read this article from the 'World Socialist Web Site' http://www.wsws.org/articles/2003/au...jail-a29.shtml . They are obviously not supporters of her, but if you read the whole article you just might start to realise how corrupt this country is.

I don't know, call me crazy, but I thought Freedom of Speech and Thought, was aimed at protecting unpopular views - not popular ones!

Yeah, that is what I am saying. He is saying we are still encouraged to have our own opinions here, and I get the feeling he was saying this in contrast to America. I am just letting him know he is wrong.

aahh. ok.

It's a funny misconception.

Although i do believe the nationalistic boat/brown people bleating has a helping hand in whats going on here.

It allows howard to get away with all kinds of shit behind the facade of being tough on boat people and irrelevant brown people.

why do you think blair and bush are in deep shit and under serious enquiries, but for the most part aussies don't give a fuck that howard lied through his fucking teeth?

bhutocracy 09-18-2003 03:24 AM

I honestly really don't care about "im not a racist, but" people. There should be as many KKK pages as you want all over the web. It's when people are too fucking stupid to let their predjudices blind them into being screwed that it matters.

No one even remembers how pathetic howard was before s/11 and tampa anymore.

The Other Steve 09-18-2003 03:24 AM

Odin - lighten up mate - I was taking the mickey out of you and it looks like I succeeded :)

Well, I do take it pretty seriously I get. It just pisses me off to see what Sydney has become, and the fact that anyone who questions it is immediatly called a 'racist'.

Sorry if I came off a bit strong, but it is something I am passionate about. :)

Yep, Howard is playing both sides of politics. He plays the working class by letting them think he is tough on immigration, as if he somewhat sides with Pauline Hanson and co, and he plays big business by allowing mass immigration, shrinking of Union power, etc to continue.

Here is a good article I found in the SMH not long ago. It desribes what I said above:

Sorry for changing the topic of the thread. TeenJump feel free to ask any questions you might have and I will get back to them when I have the time.

seriously... howard should be violently overthrown. the fact that australians willingly and repeatedly bend over to cop another assful from him is testament to our apathy or knee jerk reaction to subtle race card playing.

I would vote for Mark Latham if the chance availed itself.

I would vote for bob carr or brown (because he went to jail protesting, which is more than can be said for most pollies and it would just be surreal - the day australia votes in a gay environmentalist is the day that.. i dunno... hell freezes over.)..
I would vote for beazley too.
I would vote for ANYONE bar who is currently in government.

don't get me wrong.. i know labor is every bit as rotten as the liberals. It's just that it's been many years federally since they've left their rectal tears.

EXACTLY.. they call it "dogwhistling" sending out messages in seemingly harmless speeches that only the intended audience hears.. thats why the working class - the very class that has BEEN ASS-FUCKED THE MOST by him loves him even contrary to all rational thought.

Yep, I agree with you totally. And, although I don't particularly like the Labor party, I would vote for them over Howard any day.

bhutocracy 09-18-2003 04:01 AM

the working class got the LEAST out of the gst tax cuts.
the working class get the LEAST out of the educational reforms.
the working class get the LEAST out of the changes to medicare.

but they sit there mute dumb and stupid gagging for more.

I've seriously stopped caring. honestly. I'm from a blue collar background that has gone through some tough times, but I'm not going to whine on the working classes behalf if they aren't even going to open their eyes for themselves. fuck it.. howard can give me the juiciest tax cuts and benefits for the next seven terms or until he burns a small white orphan.. which is about the only thing the public wouldn't forgive him for while he's posturing about sand ******s and boat people.

yep.. i voted for one nation over howard last election.. or was it state election?. I numbered every single one of those bastard 100 odd boxes just to have the pleasure of putting them last personally.

Theres just only so much lying the public should have to take before action is taken. whether you give a hoot about boat people or not the fact that they lied about them chucking kids overboard to push people's buttons should send strong signals to everyone that although you might forgive them this lie, this manipulation, because you agree with it, there will be other lies.. other manipulations that will be against your interests...

bhutocracy 09-18-2003 04:10 AM

ok... it's not that I don't care about the working class. I can't help it, It's my background... I just don't feel sorry or have any empathy for them anymore.. I'm too busy trying to make sure im not one of them and have to line up for the raping because the rest of them are too wilfully mislead to help each other..
