You can surf the web much faster!! (info here)
Do yourself a favor and change this gay-ass setting..
Why? - IE limits the number of simultaneous persistent connections per server to only 2!! that means your browser can download only 2 items at a time, causing an unneccesary lag. Here is the page on the microsoft website explaining it: http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;q183110 they claim its a requirement by the http1.1 standards but why would you give a shit? what you have to is just add a registy entry and it works like a charm. if you didnt already get the info from link above, here is step by step instructions: - Start Menu -> Run -> Type "regedit" and hit ok - browse to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Internet Settings" on the left menu - Click on Internet Settings on the left menu - Edit -> New -> DWORD value - Rename it to: MaxConnectionsPerServer - Right click on that entry on the right menu, and select Modify. - Enter a value like between 5 and 10 in there. Hit ok. - Restart your machine. - Feel the difference! :thumbsup |
Sure, and while your at it, I'll just let you install a sub seven trojan horse on my machine too.
FUCK THAT!! |
Oh, no wait... I trust you LANE, I mistook you for your lover Equinox.
My Bad. note to self... LANE = good Equinox = bad |

Nice Tip Lane, Thanks:thumbsup

10 in hex is equal to 16 in decimal... "A" in hex is equal to 10 in decimal.. so if you wanna enter value 10, either use decimal and put 10 or use hexadecimal and put A, its the same.. |

Your throughput: 2944 K On Toast.net. What's your speed on that? |

Son of a bitch! Most noticable on sites that have a lot of small "navigation" images and at least a few larger images... now the small navigation stuff loads reasonably fast (doesn't wait for any larger images to load). FWIW I set it to F (hex value; means 15 in decimal).
Definately a cool tip... thanks Lane :thumbsup |

By the way, your tests will vary sometimes due to the server sending the info. I run the pic, small text, and compressed text to get a good idea of what my connection is pulling. Server slowdown makes it fluctuate. |
Tried it but it didn't do anything - maybe it's because I have a high speed connection.
The only thing you forgot to tell us is how to set it back to default. |

Did you reboot? To set it back, just delete that key you created.. btw, you can experiment with much higher values than 10 if you want.. but i dont see any use of putting something like 100.. |
Kick ass tip, thanks for posting it !!
:thumbsup :thumbsup |
nice! tip works!
|
thank you!i had recently been complaining abou tmy damn connection too.
having been spoiled off of a cable connection at home for close to 5 years, anything that was remotely slow, drove me insane. |
Nice info bro.....
works well, alot faster now. |
Thanks mane:thumbsup
"Loaded 1,754,674 bytes in 8.24 seconds from TOAST.net server." i'm on cable modem, way faster have one on the house:glugglug |
I am using Opera and it have that feature in the preferences :)
So this is my settings: Maximum connections to a server: 50 Maximum total connections: 100 Size of Network buffer: 32kb Important thing is total connections also. So if you open 2 sites in 2 windows you should have room for both of them. So try to find that for IE if it's possible... Btw, Opera is like 500% faster then fucking IE. :2 cents: |
bump up your speed
