9 Months since I quit!!!!
Smoking that is - I went from burning up nearly 2 packs a day to none at all, cold turkey - I was told that was the best and only true way to do it and I did!! I vaped (e-cigs) for one month to help with the habit but then put that down as well, deciding that that isn't exactly quitting smoking, that's just trading one thing for another - even if I was using the ones with no nicotine at all - it was still the habit and same general idea!
My life has been upside down about as bad as it's ever been - but when my husband got up one day and said he was sick of hearing me coughing so bad in my sleep that I was not able to breathe and he put them down at 3 packs a day, that was the inspiration I needed!! We've been in financial hell, family hell, and about every kind of hell you can think of being in - but still managed to do it!! I am saying this because I see so many saying they can't quit because of stress and so on, that those people that tell you that you can only be successful with it is to just put them down - they are so right - and many of you here said it to me a few times - so THANK YOU!! I did it your way and it worked - NOT even one cigarette in 9 full months and the craving is starting to calm a great deal!!! :thumbsup |
good job.

Congratulations!
By the end of this month it will 10 months since I quit, smoking weed that is. Stay strong! |
9 years since I quit. :)
Since I am addicted, I haven't or can't smoke or use anything with nicotine or the shit may start again. The addiction is for lifetime and now and then I get craving to smoke, I have also developed craving for cigares, although I didn't even smoke those before. |
Been over a year and a half, now just to stop the ecigs
|
Congratz
My e-cig helped me |
Did it cold turkey as well and now I consider smoking filthy :) so no cravings at all.
|
Congrats on quitting, well done! :thumbsup
|
Awesome congrats to everyone who quit! I'm sure you feel better, look better, breathe easier, and smell better too.
|
I bet your wallet is a lot heavier too...thats 5 packs a day combined between you and your husband. $35/Day X 30 - $1050/Mo! Holy hell! Keep it up and congrats....take yourselves on a vacation with the money saved :thumbsup
|
wow that is hard to do, I own some eCig stores and people come in everyday and it helps them quit but the ones that go cold turkey always tell me it is too hard.
I have never smoked so I can only go by what they say. Congrats.. you have done what most cannot do and for that my biz does well :) |
Going on 7 years here already. Was able to quit cold turkey by simply not going out to buy them anymore. You will hoard those last few so much. Such as lighting one, taking one drag and butting it out to save for later. After about a week of that and when you have no more left in the house, you're basically over it.

I came up behind a woman that was leaning on her car or in her car or something and she was smoking and I hopped into my car and looked at my husband and asked him if I smelled that bad - it was literally about to make me sick!! lol I don't allow it in my car or house either now and this doesn't set well with people that still smoke that visit, but the way I see it, it is mine, I am paying for it and I'll decide what goes on in it. lol |
Congrats. I can't imagine smoking 2 or 3 packs a day. Yikes!

Congrats but admit it sometimes you miss waking up to a cup of coffee, a toasted bagel with cream cheese, and a cigarette. :2 cents:

I got over the after dinner smoke way before I even quit! I will say that just about everything I eat tastes different now though - some of the things I loved before almost make me sick now! Chili and Cheese Fritos, which I had just started eating, they were the most nasty things I had ever eaten after I stopped smoking. lol |
congrats
I'm guessing you don't have any kids. |

Congrats on quitting :)
|
2 packs a day for you and 3 for your husband, that is a nice chunk of change in savings, congrats!
|
I am now full year cigaret free. No ecigs, gums, shit.
Just took and quit one day forever! |
I quit six or seven years ago, don't think about it much. I wonder why I didn't do it much sooner.
|
Good for you. I smoke a pack a day and need to quit.
It's funny though, as it's not so much a dependency issue as a habit (especially with my morning cup of coffee, in the car, and just before bed). I don't smoke around my friends' kids, with no issue. I can go on vacation with them and go without just fine, but as soon as I get on the road heading back home I'll light up. |

I am 10 months 22 days without a cigarette. I no longer cough til I puke.
|
Way to go! I quit 3 years ago and I have never looked back.
Do not smoke even one to "test" yourself. Too easy to fall back into the nicotine trap! |

Well done, smoking is filthy.
To be honest I do not understand smokers: cost money smells bad bad for health positive effect of "relaxation" is questionable, I felt nothing when tried. |
good job , next quit porn :winkwink:
|
Congrats on your 9 months. That's a big time accomplishment.
I quit smokin' after 35 years last November - switched to vaping. Haven't had a single cig. Not ready to go cold turkey - yet. But eventually I will. |

I will say this, if you want to quit and go to vaping, do NOT think that the tobacco flavors are going to do it, that shit is NASTY - get flavors and play with them til you find what you like and can handle! AND CONGRATS TO ALL YOU FUCKING QUITTERS, I AM PROUD OF YOU!!! |
congrats
