Oblivion

I don't know why but I skipped this movie when it came out in the threatres. Decided to watch it on PPV last night and LOVED it, and watched it for a second time right afterwards.

If you're in the mood for some smart sci-fi, check it out.

F-U-Jimmy 09-03-2013 08:55 PM

I agree first class entertainment

sandman! 09-03-2013 09:11 PM

AllAboutCams 09-03-2013 10:21 PM

Same here a really good movie

rastan 09-04-2013 01:59 AM

My father-in-law wasnt impressed so my expectations weren't high. I thought it was excellent though. Great idea, great cinematography, just a really enjoyable film imho.
Cruise is a bit of an oddball, but he he gets the job done reliably enough

DWB 09-04-2013 02:02 AM

I enjoyed it. Bought the soundtrack.

seeandsee 09-04-2013 02:26 AM

Why he asked question?

Markul 09-04-2013 02:28 AM

Yea pretty good movie :)

J. Falcon 09-04-2013 05:51 AM

You watched it two times in a row? Wow don't think I've ever done that for any movie, ever.

pornguy 09-04-2013 05:54 AM

Have not seen it yet either but hope to some time soon.

C4W 09-04-2013 06:11 AM

It's good

bronco67 09-04-2013 06:31 AM

It's also one of the best looking movies I've seen in a long time. And the soundtrack was done by M83 and its awesome.

Maqua 09-04-2013 06:32 AM

I liked it a lot :thumbsup

dyna mo 09-04-2013 06:42 AM

there is nothing *smart* about that movie.

easily one of the dumbest sci-fi flicks with a very VERY hollywood/tom cruise ending with plenty of plot holes starting with the scavs need to clone cruise to begin with.

I agree, it sucked. The people that liked it must not be fans of good sci-fi.

Caldo 09-04-2013 07:01 AM

Interesting movie at all :thumbsup

pauliexray 09-04-2013 07:02 AM

Cruise is always a solid actor.
Real wacko in real life apparently.

Agreed... I went to see this movie twice when it was out :thumbsup

Evil Chris 09-04-2013 08:15 AM

Thanks for the reminder, Mark. I've been meaning to check this one out as well.

Vendzilla 09-04-2013 08:22 AM

I got it on Blu Ray. It was enjoyable, I loved the cool tech, but when I saw tech that looked nothing like anything humans would design, that sent up a flag to me and I knew it had to have a twist and I was right.
Ending was cool, saw a fee things I missed the first time I watched it, going up on the shelf now!

_Richard_ 09-04-2013 08:29 AM

yea was a cool movie

The title of the movie is a hint also.

Sly 09-04-2013 09:10 AM

I enjoyed it until I saw the watch in minute 10:07, it showed a time that was an hour different from the clock showing in minute 10:08. Totally ruined the experience.

I like that inside joke.

CyberHustler 09-04-2013 09:23 AM

I thought it sucked...

[ Nate ] 09-04-2013 09:24 AM

exactly, terrible movie...me and my intelligence felt offended by screenwriters...their scenario was so dumb and with holes...and without any logic....

one of the worst movies that I saw last months

Go ahead. Let's see your arguments.

dyna mo 09-04-2013 10:30 AM

for starters there is absolutely no need for the aliens to clone us.

in fact, that's pretty stupid. an enemy cloning its enemy?

Just the other day you were asking about Grey's Anatomy. Not sure I can ever take your TV/movie opinion seriously.

maybe this will help clarify that for you.

Jack and his co-pilot(the red haired chick) along with other crew members the back of the ship(including his wife) are on their way to make contact with the Tet (that giant thing floating in orbit around Earth). When the ship starts to get pulled in by the Tet, Jack jettisons the crew hoping to save them.

The moon is destroyed, which pretty much wipes out all human life on Earth - except for a few people(these people later are "aliens".)

Jack and his copilot are taken into the ship and cloned. These thousands of clones are set up on Earth to manage the Tet's giant machines that extract energy from the ocean. The drones that Jack's in charge of are to protect the clones and giant energy machines, which are always under attack by the "aliens". The Tet has no physical presence that can do the work necessary, so that's why it made clones of the only human samples it could get.

The clones have forgotten their lives and have a new reality which involves taking care of these machines for the human race which has already settled on a new world(if I remember correctly).

Oblivion: the fact or condition of forgetting or having forgotten; especially : the condition of being oblivious.

haha this also applies to Dyna Mo when he watches movies :-)

you can make it personal if you want, doesn't change the fact everything you wrote is bullshit.

so an alien *presence* can make (and needs to make) physical spacecraft that hurl this *presence that has no physical manifestation yet requires a spaceship* across the universe(s) with this grand military plan that entirely requires cloning, not just their enemy, but the best of the best enemy fighters.

that's lollercoaster shit man! come on. i can go on....

I didn't write the movie. I'm just explaining it as it is. That's what happened.

This is what they sold, if you don't want to buy it then that's your thing. But my joke was in reference to you not really paying attention, whether it's a dumb premise or not. There is an actual story there that makes sense.

i know what you meant. you're presuming i didn't pay attention.

anyhoo, movieing on, the real lollercoaster moment was when morgan freeman popped outta the box after cruise put his wife in it and headed up to a main ship. wait, whut.

don't get me wrong, it was an entertaining movie, but more in a james bond way- bring bond to my secret lair so we can use an elaborate mechanism to kill him kinda thing.

fun to watch but certainly not smart.

prolly the big plot problem was casting cruise in a clone flick. cruise doesn't die in his movies, so as soon as it was revealed it was a clone movie, which was in act 1, then the ending was shot for me. cruise was a clone and there was at least 1 other 1

BFT3K 09-04-2013 11:44 AM

I really WANTED to like this movie, but in the end, I thought it sucked just about as much as District 9... maybe it sucked a little bit more. Oh well, to each his own.

Clones all have the same consciousness also, so if the main character dies, one of the other clones can still live the same life with the same memories.

That's a BIG definitely on that "to each his own" thing.

i thought district 9 was a pretty smart film, but as bronco points out, to each their own.

which brings up the ending. how long for all the rest of the cruise clones to show up at his lakeside retreat?

dyna mo 09-04-2013 11:58 AM

this is pretty funny actually
