SE Guru's - I Need You!

Ok, I have followed every peace of advice i could find as far as getting some SE hits. Is there anything i can do differently?

I never aimed at getting SE hits so this is all new to me, what else can i do to help my site?

Does it hurt me to have the site on a sub and not root domain?

Do i need keywords in my domain name?

site = http://www.pleasuredvds.com/ttt/

Ive added content, added text, added keywords, added meta, tons of links and will soon be adding a link trade to increase my link-backs.

What am i missing?

XM 01-31-2003 03:20 AM

:Hollering You couldn't probably choose worse keywords than you did. There are 2 million "free sex pics" sites in Google, so now you are 20000001st.
Go and choose some niche first. Or do you want to compete with 5-8 yrs. old sites like Pkitty with thousands of links to them :Graucho

XM

lil2rich4u2 01-31-2003 03:33 AM

True

But if i choose a niche, lets say hairy fat women or something ... Do i have to have all related content?

And should i only swap links with related sites?

lil2rich4u2 01-31-2003 03:36 AM

And if i choose a tight niche, my hits will be slower right?

I mean how many people are actually searching for:

"Tiny Transvestite Midgets Peeing On Fat Ugly Teens"

lol

P.S can you list 5 or 6 "niches" so i have an idea what i should be thinking about?

Your hits will be slower, your conversions better.

From 10 people searching for "Tiny Transvestite Midgets Peeing On Fat Ugly Teens" probably 9 will sgin up if you have such paysite, however 1 from 1000 people looking for "free sex pics" will buy something, you can't target them properly, they want it FREE.

What is this traffic fetish all about? If you want to jerk off looking at your sextracker ranking go for free sex pics, if you want to make money choose anything else.

Don't register keyword rich domains, it has very little if anything at all to do with your rankings... FACT!

Pick the Niche that turns you on. :)

Dveron 01-31-2003 05:09 AM

Is there any particular reason your folder is called ttt instead of keyword-keyword-keyword?

Imho I would focus on one or 2 key phrases a bit more, you're trying to hit too many phrases at once, pick your phrases and place them throughout your page in Title, H tags, path/filenames, alt tag etc.

Also if you're looking to rank well on Google with 'free porn' you'll need to boost your PR to at least a 5 and use the root url.

:2 cents:

Really????????

Well shit - I wish you told me that before I got a couple of good listings on Google for words that appear in the domain name.

Damn if I'd known that I would have gone and registered fartingoldtruckdrivers.com and ignorantsmartasswebmasters.com and saved myself a lot of hassle.

sexxx 01-31-2003 05:48 AM

Your page rank (Google) is very important, you have 2 on your site, if you can climb to 5 you will improve your rankings for sure.

When you figure out how that is a plus instead of a draw back you will be on the road to a brighter future.

Sarah_Jayne 01-31-2003 09:02 AM

don't forget about good old fashioned link trades. Nothing is more important than getting out there and saying 'hey I like your site, want to trade links?'

dmv69 01-31-2003 09:09 AM

is it better to register

Tiny-Transvestite-Midgets-Peeing-On-Fat-Ugly-Teens.com OR

tinytransvestitemidgetspeeingonfatuglyteens.com ?

1) It might hurt you for Google since subdomains are ranked slightly differently than the actual domain. This could be used to your advantage however.
2) For older engines like Altavista it might help but this isn't an important factor anymore. You should focus on relevance rather than attempting to get an artificial boost by buying tons of domains with your keywords stuffed into them.
3) Read some more, particularly on Google. Google is obviously the search engine gold mine and you need to really understand their algorithm to dominate it on there. Get familiar with the concept of PR and how it works and how it can be used to get higher rankings.

WiredGuy, why does a PR4 site rank higher than a PR5 site for the same keyword ?

PR is a multiplier, it isn't the sole factor in determining a ranking. So when determining where a site will land in the results, PR will be a multiplicative boost whereas relevance is still the top factor.

No you won't - just work at it as Wired Guy says and it will happen. Later on you can start stressing about PR and work at that but key word relevancy is still more important.

It varies from month to month but quite often my partner's link list sits right at the top of page 1 for a good term and her PR is currently 4. Tommy's might sit at 2 or 3 during those months and his PR is 6.

Up until recently she has never bothered greatly about PR - she has just focused on key words.

lil2rich4u2 01-31-2003 06:40 PM

Sheesh this is confusing!

I mean sites like this:
http://www.z-teen-porn.com/

Have no meta at all, hardly any content, and he repeats the same keywords on page!

Yet he is #1 for "Teen Porn" on google! WTF!!!

lol

If you think metas are in any way important for Google you really haven't read up on SE placement at all. There's loads of articles about why not read some then you'd have half a clue?

lil2rich - until about 2 months back my partner's link list did not have one single meta tag - so think laterally - what does that tell you about Google and how it views a page?

It will also tell you about some people who post in other places with all sorts of amazing facts about how they optimise their metas for Google.

The reason why: He has 100 inbound links from good PR sites. He has a PR of 6. He is using deceptive practices to get a good PR. And you know what, he probably will be banned from google in a couple days. So instead of trying to get these amazing listings for 1-2 weeks, try creating relevant sites and you'll be listed for years. I've been in this business for 4 years and the listings I had from day one are still up there providing sales since I started rather than jumping from domain to domain getting banned.

Read, learn, master the search engines...

It's not illegal what that webmaster is doing, just deceptive and unethical. He won't be on Google for that long. Keep at it, read a lot of the sites out there and truly understand how to get high rankings. And try not to get tempted for a quick boost into the top placements in google. Most of them won't last too long. You'd probably rather keep your listings in the top rankings for months/years versus getting a number one placement for 2 weeks. It's a frustrating business getting good rankings but if you keep at it, you will succeed.

Best of luck.
WG

Que? 01-31-2003 08:12 PM

Related subject doesnt count for shit. Page rank is the only thing that matters concerning in links.

Dont botther with thousands in links just make sure they are high ranking.

Forget meta tags as well. Text content is the thing to care about. alt-texts, image names or simple text mass(relevant to your preferred searches that is).

A relevanty domain name doesnot hurt, but is not necessary either.

Do searches on google and analysize the results...over and over

There's been some very high ranked/traffic crap sites like the ones you mentioned removed recently. Long may the practice of pr0'ing them continue :)

lil2rich4u2 01-31-2003 10:18 PM

"pr0'ing" = ??

lil2rich4u2 01-31-2003 10:40 PM

Ok

I redesigned my whole site.

Went from one page to 14.

SE Guru's give it to me raw!! What can i do differently or better?

****P.S i will be adding a link table on bottom of each page and i will maintain targetted link trades for each page. Im thinking i will have maybe 20 link trades on each page.

lil2rich4u2 01-31-2003 10:43 PM
