my tooth just cracked... I'm thinking of pulling it out myself

For the past few days I've been felling discomfort in my left side lower back tooth. I just had a peanut and I think the peanut forced itself into a small cavity and then when I bit down I think my tooth cracked.

I went to the bathroom and brushed and flossed and took a tiny sharp dental tool and felt for the cavity, I definitely found it as a shiver shot from my skull to my toes. I could feel it by pushing down into the tooth right where two teeth touch. I could also feel a hole on the outside of the tooth near my cheek.

When I pushed in from the side a piece of tooth moved upward, again sending a shiver thru my body. Then as I bit down I could feel it slide back into place... again... shivers.

I could go to the dentist tomorrow in which case he'll try to "repair" it. Or.. I could just pull it myself. I go to the dental supply store from time to time for other projects I could just go get a pair of tooth pulling pliers and spare myself agonizing drilling and poking and having to talk while some dudes hands are in my mouth for 3 hours tomorrow.

One pair of pliers and a bit of gauze should do the trick.

Set up camera of your mouth only, and self pull.
Use your amazing editing and then make us a movie.

Post of tube sites just for chances of extra traffic.

Careful there, Cowboy. I am not an advocate of home/self-dentistry.

Besides, Dentists have lots of cool drugs... :winkwink:

So do I. Nitrous from whip cream cans and weed should do the trick.
:1orglaugh:1orglaugh
Naw man, "I say nope to dope and uhg to drugs."

My fear is they'll want to do a root canal. I've never had one of those done before. I just have a few cavities, that's it. and those hurt like hell to have done. I'd rather pull my own teeth than to sit thru that shit again. I had some teth pulled when I was a kid and it was nothing. Didn't hurt nearly as much as a filling. You can get punched and lose a tooth and it doesn't hurt as bad as a filling. I can only imagine a root canal hurting just a few thousand times more than a filling.

escorpio 02-14-2008 03:09 AM

I had a root canal. It didn't hurt half as bad as the pain I was experiencing before I got it. Plus I got a scrip for 40 vicodin.

RedShoe 02-14-2008 03:12 AM

Are all you morons just drug addicts? Do you all just sit around getting drunk and stoned all day? Jesus.

I'm not going to go thru the pain of getting a root canal just for a few vicodins.

Besides I get all my vikee's from the street side pharmacist.

Ahh that rarely works. Had younger brothers and the failure rate is high even on a front tooth.

RTP 02-14-2008 03:23 AM

exposed nerve is not fun. let me know how it goes, i might do the same - broke a molar eating popeyes shit hurts!

I'm not 6 years old.

I was thinking more along the lines of Tom Hanks in Cast Away

America's health care system rocks..

After Shock Media 02-14-2008 04:02 AM

I am sure if you wanted it you could obtain liquid novacain or at least you should have the know how to distill it out of the over the counter dilluted stuff if pain really bothers you.

I've got a dental plan and I go for the occasional cleaning.. but this.. this is going to hurt and waste my day. Ironically... I can tolerate self inflicted pain a lot more than pain brought on by someone else.

But yes, the health care system here does suck ass. I pay over $600 a month and I haven't been to the Dr. in years (other than the occasional checkup)

How can a teeth cavity hurt to get filled? The most painful thing is the shot but I always ask them to put numbing cream on it before they inject so I don't feel as much (I can still feel it though and injections scare me).

Have you heard of air abrasion? Its a new technique where you dont need injections to fill a cavity, the dentist uses a special wand, but only certain dentists have the wand though and they can only do it when there aren't any prior cavities in that particular tooth.

viencarl 02-14-2008 06:35 AM

you can use any tools as long as you like to use it
try plies that use by electrician oh wait don't forget to sterilize it lol

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 02-14-2008 06:38 AM

My husband had a root canal. He felt much better after it was over. They gave him vicodin and he was waisted for days. It was very entertaining. Ive never seen him got so much accomplished in those days. He gets wired from pain killers.

teksonline 02-14-2008 08:01 AM

Root canal is simply a choice, if the nerve is exposed you need a root canal, or extraction... a root canal is about $750 bucks (i wouldnt go to a cheap guy) for this, or extaction is $100 which takes about 10 seconds..

Personally if other teeph are ok, i go with extraction, and later down the line a digital insertion of a post if over 30, should last till your dead.. for this use digital places only, they can precisely place that post so to not fuck up your jaw to a level that far surpasses some doctor who drills with eyball into your skull lol

RTP 02-14-2008 11:56 AM

there is always the option of placing your mouth on a sidewalk curb then having your friend stomp the back of your head...no need to brush any longer! :thumbsup

Didn't you have a "nail surgery" pictorial on here?
I was horrified from it, yet strangely, I had to look.
I agree with ASM - film it / tape it / photo it, whatever... then post it.

Yes, I used a pair of cuticle scissors and cut my toe nail on it's edge then used a pair of needle nose pliers and removed a chunk of toe nail. The pain was intense, but the relief after was euphoric.

I've read up on tooth extraction. Apparently I'll need to wiggle it back and forth with the pliers to loosen the gum line first then just separate it from the soft fleshy pad it rests on, then with slow but steady pressure wiggle it up and out.

TubeTitans_SusieQ 02-14-2008 12:57 PM

same here, I know I have a cavity in my top back tooth right by my cheek...its the one right before the wisdom tooth, it hurts like crazy when I eat or drink something, Im planning on making a dr.s appointment tomorrow for it, Im going to have to stick with the dr. I dont have other "projects" lol and definately dont have the guts to pull it myself lol...although i'd rather have it pulled than repaired for sure.

RedShoe 02-14-2008 01:04 PM

https://youtube.com/watch?v=NvEbJ-zMoNw seems like if I get a good bite on the tooth with the pliers that extraction is just a matter of wiggling and pulling. This one came out pretty easy, and they ask the dude if he's ok a few seconds into it and he says yeah. I think his initial reaction is mental. He must not have been completely prepared mentally for the first pull so he grunts a little. But you hear the relief after it's out.

I'll pull it for you... I could kinda use the practice before I do my own.

RedShoe 02-14-2008 01:08 PM

HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!!
This is hilarious!!!
https://youtube.com/watch?v=PCPCCeulhTs

I should go to the road side village dentist. He's smoking but at least he rinsed the rusty pliers in .. I dunno, I guess water, before the tooth extraction.. I mean tooth breaking.

I guess I know now what will happen if you try to yank it out the same way you pull a band-aid off. I see now the trick is to wiggle it and loosen it first.

munki 02-14-2008 01:11 PM

Ill shoot it... GFY needs this Redshoe tutorial...

Or even better... come to the hockey game, we will take turns slap shotting in your general headlike direction until the tooth falls out...

Odie 02-14-2008 01:11 PM

omg ROFL! Redshoe..thanks for the laugh today! I am in stitches!

Why wouldn't be? People get their toofus knocked out all the time. They don't all die from infection. Did you watch that video I posted? Looks like all I really got to do is swish the rusty pliers in water before I snap my tooth out of my skull.
