What browser do you use?

I use and love FireFox but it's such a memory eater. I have a Intel Core 2 2,4GHz Quad with 3GB DDR2 PC6400 800Mhz which is a pretty powerful computer but FireFox still manages to slow down the entire computer sometimes by eating up all the memory.

I really don't like IE and I can't really put my finger on what it is that I don't like with it but I am about to change to IE because this memory problems with FireFox are starting to get ridiculos.

What browser do you use? How is Opera these days?

The Ghost 02-03-2008 08:45 PM

Normally FF for the ad-ons, but always check things in IE.

Sometimes, depends on what's running. Right now it's using about 350mb of memory. (have 4gb)

It's something I don't think about until it crashes :Oh crap

Spunky 02-03-2008 08:53 PM

I use Opera and IE7

digifan 02-03-2008 08:55 PM

Firefox... I got opera, safari, flock too but nothing beats FF imho.

Miguel T 02-03-2008 08:56 PM

I also use FF and sometimes get this memory problem...

GatorB 02-03-2008 08:58 PM

IE7 it just works. Doesn't take forever just to load and doesn't take forever to load images on the screen and uses up much less memory than FF.

minddust 02-03-2008 08:59 PM

firefox/opera/internet exploited 6

pornask 02-03-2008 09:00 PM

strictly IE7. I leave wannabe browsers for fanboys who don't know any better.

firefox all the way.........sometimes I use Opera........I only touch internet explorer to make sure things are rendering as they should............and yeah sometimes the little fox eats up my memory and crashes, it goes on the amount of tabs you have open, I always have at least 10 open .....

Violetta 02-04-2008 12:57 AM

I love Opera!

Jace 02-04-2008 01:04 AM

firefox here, I have 11 tabs open and it has been running without being closed for at least 24 hours straight

it is only using 93,476k of memory

I have a pretty horrible laptop too
AMD Athlon XP 2400+
1.79ghz, 448mb ram

voa 02-04-2008 01:15 AM

I use IE7 and Opera 9.1

Nookster 02-04-2008 01:16 AM

Love FireFox and use it as primary. But, of course still check things with IE and some others. I've been trying to use Opera more (because of the FireFox memory leakage problem) but I still fall back to FireFox and forget about it.

dozey 02-04-2008 01:22 AM

Firefox w/30+ tabs: slow, unresponsive, using alot of memory.
Opera w/100+ tabs: fast, responsive, using the same amount of memory.

I'm not sure why people rave about firefox so much, it has never performed well for me.

Octopus 02-04-2008 02:01 AM

I use Firefox

mrwilson 02-04-2008 02:02 AM

I have ie 6, 7 and firefox, i use ie7 mostly though.

Rosie 02-04-2008 02:24 AM

I always used IE for years until I picked up a virus last year that took days to clean off the computer. Now I feel a lot safer using FF.... I have a quad too and don't find it eats that much memory to slow it down at all.

CyberHustler 02-04-2008 02:34 AM

Firefox.....

iMind 02-04-2008 02:41 AM

Strictly Safari :thumbsup:thumbsup

Opera is fantastic :winkwink: And once 9.5 comes out, oh man... it beats everyone A LOT in performance. Using Opera 9.2, Opera 9.5 Beta. Also got FF, IE7, Safari installed for web pages testing...

DjiXas 02-04-2008 03:11 AM

By the way, Firefox memory leak is not a bug, it's "a feature".

papill0n 02-04-2008 03:16 AM

firefox all the way baby

Antonio 02-04-2008 03:40 AM

zabijaq 02-04-2008 03:48 AM

Mostly Mozilla Suite 1.7.13 but still guite often these two FF 2.0.x, Opera 8.53.

IE is like 0,23% of time.

Bojangles 02-04-2008 04:29 AM

FF and IE7

SayWhut 02-04-2008 04:55 AM

Firefox FTW

Lamis 02-04-2008 05:07 AM

Any Real Webmaster should use IE...

Otherwise you will make sites that are not compatible with 70% of surfers...

lbc213 02-04-2008 05:09 AM

Firefox and opera. IE to check to see if sites are ok when viewing in IE.
