Do you buy "Made in China"?

Every day there seems to be a new story about products made in China being dangerous. Add that to the fact most things that come from China are poorly made with cheap parts IMO.

I would gladly pay extra for North American made goods knowing that they would fall under stricter enviromental and health regulations.

Do you care where things are made?

Sen 08-24-2007 07:51 AM

i bought today 40k tft monitors made in china :)

RawAlex 08-24-2007 07:51 AM

My girlfriend is made in china. All her parts are fine.

MikesTraffic 08-24-2007 07:57 AM

I think majority of the shit sold in america was made in china. I'de rather by slightly higher priced better made / safer stuff

Thats a whole lot of monitoring of porn !

^^

.

pornguy 08-24-2007 08:06 AM

Its not so much as where they are made, its that the companies that are making them are trying to turn a higher profit. So they are using cheaper parts or paints etc.

BlackCrayon 08-24-2007 08:07 AM

Its hard not to buy things in china but will be looking more closely at where things are made now. Maybe this will get some manufacturers to think twice about using cheap labour.

Check to make sure she was not painted with too much lead ;)

WiredGuy 08-24-2007 08:15 AM

Depends on the product and quite frankly I think its pretty hard to find stuff that's not made in china. Seems everything is.

tomeatsdinner 08-24-2007 08:24 AM

Rui 08-24-2007 08:35 AM

LOL funny thread...

Even funnier the good old "I stick with Made in US"...naive to the extreme...

Ignorance is bliss...

Fletch XXX 08-24-2007 08:37 AM

ADL Josh 08-24-2007 08:41 AM

The Duck 08-24-2007 08:44 AM

The mouse im using right now is made in china, and its high end. So is the keyboard and the monitor.

Drake 08-24-2007 09:42 AM

Lest you want to live in a cardboard box

mikeet 08-24-2007 09:45 AM

Personally i dont care where it was made as long as i like it

fallenmuffin 08-24-2007 09:47 AM

If I didn't buy anything that was "made in china" then I wouldn't own anything. When is the last time you honestly saw something stamped "made in the usa" that wasn't a flag or some ultra shitty paper product (like a dollar tree gift box)?

alby_persignup 08-24-2007 10:51 AM

My shoes are made from china.

Brother Bilo 08-24-2007 10:53 AM

I buy all my lead based products from China. No complaints yet.

D 08-24-2007 10:53 AM

I live in the U.S.

Do you realize what a pain in my ass it'd be if I refused to buy products made in China?

frostyimpressions 08-24-2007 10:53 AM

When I was younger my parents bought me a knock off cabbage patch doll made in China. I tried to change his shirt and his head came off :(

mistergardener 08-24-2007 10:56 AM

i don't. i'm cautious.

Antonio 08-24-2007 11:03 AM

if its not made in China I won't buy it

have you seen the high-speed train they made in Shanghai???

30 or so kilometers railroad, deviation in height - less than a millimeter, white people can't do that. EVER!!!

DaddyHalbucks 08-24-2007 11:04 AM

You forgot to mention that buying from China may also fund a potential military adversary.

Did you hear about the recent join military exercises between China and Russia?

Years ago I boycotted any product made in China. Now if yo try to do the same you will find it difficult to survive, everything seems to be made in China. If you don't like it boycott Walmart they forced US manufacturers to move to China or lose their contracts. Walmart is the largest buyer of made in China goods in the world.

woj 08-24-2007 11:22 AM

Pretty much everything is made there....

stev0 08-24-2007 11:22 AM

Do you think Chinese products are becoming more dangerous or do you think Americans are just becoming more picky/prissy?

I think if we're about to start complaining about small things like magnets and trace amounts of lead in the paint on toys we should probably take a look at bigger problems including the number 1 killer, poor diet and lack of exercise...

Yep.. the US has also been doing military exercises with it's allies for years, whats your point?

Wizzo 08-24-2007 11:33 AM

There's a book that was written about a family that tried not to buy or use anything from China or Chinese parts and found in the US, its almost 100% impossible to do...

If you think you can do it, start by throwing out just about all your electronics including your computer because it has Chinese parts in it... Then hope you don't like DVDs, CDs or any other media... All made in China. Clothes such as socks and underwear almost impossible not have it made there.... Premade foods almost all have Chinese ingredients, oh yea, no automobiles either... and the list goes on and on...:pimp

Klen 08-24-2007 11:58 AM

I think no matter what you going to buy it's made in china. After all most of big world companies moved their facilites to china.

TeenSluts 08-24-2007 12:48 PM

not anymore....

FelixFlow 08-24-2007 01:40 PM

for years, whenever possible i try not to buy "made in china"

Just Alex 08-24-2007 02:31 PM

I don't think I have anything that is not made in China.

VeriSexy 08-24-2007 02:47 PM

Were you told you were "under threat" again? *lol*

China does have nuclear weapons with a range which can reach virtually every corner of every nuclear power US, Russia, UK and France blah.

But... don't feel threatened - Chinese wisdom prevails. A Chinese military strategist, Sun Tzu, circa 2300 years ago had a lesson - if you cannot win a battle, do NOT fight it. Need a copy to send to the Pentagon??? *lol*

Meanwhile the Central Bank of China is still lending the US govt $3-4 billion/day to support your lifestyle :thumbsup
