Exactly! Any multi-national worth five cents has production capacity in China or somewhere in Asia.

There is a book "The Genius of China 3000 Years of Science, Discovery,
and Invention" (Robert Templeton) worth a read :thumbsup

Modern day China is concentrating on being the largest economic and industrial powerhouse the planet has ever seen - a modest ambition :-)

Its not the chinese's its american business who want to pay nothing to have things made.It forces these guys to bid lower and lower to get the contract.Which feeds cutting corners.
For some reason Americans think its their god given right to pay the lowest price possible for everything and then have the balls to bitch when the quality is shit.

VicD 08-24-2007 04:43 PM

Almost everything is made in China... you have no choice these days

zand_stein 08-24-2007 06:11 PM

yeah, lots of them are out in the market.........
gadgets, clothing, toys everything......

nico-t 08-24-2007 06:22 PM

LOL dangerous goods? I see the propaganda machine got to you... It's scary how easy some people can get influenced.

I think if we're about to start complaining about small things like magnets and trace amounts of lead in the paint on toys we should probably take a look at bigger problems including the number 1 killer, poor diet and lack of exercise...

It does seem strange that all these problems seem to have arisen, oh, in the past month. Everything from fish to toys. Politics being played? Maybe. We're more picky? Maybe. Actual product more dangerous due to increased cost cutting or increasing indifference? Maybe. Who knows these days.

I do care. When there is a choice, I will buy something made in this country. Same with green products. When there is an option to buy something recycled vs virgin, I am gonna buy recycled. And price dosent even factor in, I have paid double or triple before so I could have my prefference.

Its becoming harder and harder these days to find ANYTHING made here.

Spunky 08-24-2007 06:45 PM

Depends on the product and if it is reasonably priced

gecko 08-24-2007 06:56 PM

I don't discriminate

Vitasoy 08-24-2007 11:12 PM

I don't look at where it's made from, when purchasing a product

Ironically one the best marketing guru's is also French - and with a string of clients from General Motors onwards. His speciality is in creating a target market and convincing them of a "need", a boost in their ego or whatever - and leading em like a lambs to the slaughter - or credit card :)

His marketing obviously works - there are plenty maxed-out cards as evidence *lol*
