Do you wear your seatbelt?

I posted this on another board & got an interesting reaction so I thought I'd bring it over to Gfy...

For me it is the first thing I do when I get in the car. I buckle up! Even if I am driving across a parking lot... force of habbit.

This morning I was driving & looked in my rear view and noticed my son was not wearing his. I could have killed him! He has pulled this crap a couple times lately so finally today I pulled over & really yelled at him about it.

Suddenly now I have to sit and wait and double check on something that he used to do without being told.
So I ask him why this new rebellion against the seat belt & of course the answer is "my Dad doesn't wear one".
He is right too, my ex never wears a seatbelt. Always bothered me.

I call the ex when I get home and ask him if when our child is in the car can he please lead by example & buckle up... he tells me that he always checks to make sure our son is strapped in and I should do the same & I'm not his Mommy so I don't need to worry about what he does, he doesn't want to wear a seat belt & he isn't going to.
I try to explain the "do as I say, not as I do" way of parenting isn't the best way in this situation but he just hangs up.

So what is your opinion on it?
And if you are one who doesn't wear a seatbelt, tell me why...

ADL Josh 05-16-2007 11:34 AM

i wear it all the time..it's kind of a habbit now, i automatically reach for it when i start my car...i kind of feel naked when i don't wear it, lol:thumbsup

acctman 05-16-2007 11:36 AM

always wear it. i don't understand why people choose not to wear it, its not a big deal at all and it can save your life

StuartD 05-16-2007 11:38 AM

I don't even realize I put it on most of the time because it's an automatic habit to just put it on the moment I get into the seat.

RobertD 05-16-2007 11:41 AM

My ignition key doesn't turn until every person in my car is wearing their belt.

MikeVega 05-16-2007 11:45 AM

I always wear mine and the kids don't even thin about it. they just put it on. I notice that the generation before ours doesn't wear it as much. I'm 32 and i grew up during my driving years with it pounded into my head. I guess all that money spent in schools is paying off. Now i just hope that we are the last generation to consider not wearing rubbers during sex. I hope my kids just do it without thought like the belts .

SxDx 05-16-2007 11:45 AM

everywhere i go. it's not worth taking a chance on flying through the windshield. especially with all the crazy, no-driving assholes down here in south florida. i swear, this place is far worse than NY, LA or anywhere else

uvort 05-16-2007 11:53 AM

Every time I am in a car, the seatbelt goes on.

mailman 05-16-2007 11:55 AM

I dont... and I just got a ticket the other day for not wearing it... $110! :(

KILL_FRENZY 05-16-2007 11:56 AM

I wear it but sometimes is good , sometimes is bad depends of the circumstances

JaneB 05-16-2007 11:58 AM

I always put mine on. A lot of people die in car crashes because they were not wearing a seat belt. Although I was rear ended and the seat belt caused an injury.

BigCashCrew 05-16-2007 11:58 AM

I always put it on right away. Even if I'm only going a few blocks. A seat belt saved my life a few years back.

Ramos 05-16-2007 11:58 AM

the way you drive you should wear 2 seatbelts. :)

baddog 05-16-2007 12:01 PM

I have been in enough accidents to realize I would be an idiot not to wear one.

What is my opinion on it?

1) Your ex is a fucking idiot. If you ever get married again, please don't marry another idiot.

2) Before seatbelt laws came into effect I admit I never wore it ever. But nowadays I always do buckle up, even to drive a few streets over to the bank or supermarket.

Cheers. :D

Michaelious 05-16-2007 01:47 PM

Yeah i do, mostly it'll save your life

pantyfreek 05-16-2007 01:52 PM

Only wear one if a cop is seen! Here in Maine it just became a law (New Hampshire still allows you to have your choice!). Don't think its right to FORCE people to wear one.

Christy

TubeTitans_SusieQ 05-16-2007 01:53 PM

wish i had that habit unfortunately no i don't if i have a choice. Usually I do it when i drive around with my nephew to set the example tho.

mikah9 05-16-2007 04:18 PM

yep, always

g$$$ 05-16-2007 04:49 PM

BlackCrayon 05-16-2007 06:39 PM

i've always had a bad habit of not wearing one but now that i have my new car, i have to buckle up or put up with constant beeping. I don't mind it as it reminds me to buckle up.

Mystica 05-16-2007 08:02 PM

not all the time. im kinda lazy sometimes. i just realize to wear it when i see police. hehehe

LiveDose 05-16-2007 08:03 PM

I put my seatbelt on without even thinking about it.

Screaming 05-16-2007 08:06 PM

The day your son witnesses your ex going through the windscreen at 60mph is the day he'll realise how important it is.

You should tell that to your fucking dickhead ex. He shouldn't have a child in the car if he's not belting up.

In the UK, if you get caught, you're looking at up to £500 fine.

It's fucking dangerous. I have been in a fast head on crash and it threw me pretty hard... I had my belt on so luckily I wasn't smashed up bad.

Spunky 05-16-2007 08:25 PM

Considering they raised the fine to 170 bucks I tend to put them on more

DTK 05-16-2007 08:28 PM

I think you're a complete fucking idiot if you don't wear a seat belt

thebestdamnsexshow 05-16-2007 09:28 PM

I wear it.. Doesnt bother me

Gumballs 05-16-2007 09:31 PM

100% of the time.

fetishblog 05-16-2007 09:32 PM

0% of the time. Never have, never will.

Evil1 05-16-2007 09:35 PM

i don't. got in to an accident in feb. a little honda totaled a full size dodge ram i was in. bounced around the cab like a fucking pinball.. when it was over i was on the floor looking at my friends feet with the 4wd shifter jammed in my ribs.. it was awesome.. would have been boring as hell with a seatbelt on.

btw I still dont.

Rochard 05-16-2007 10:46 PM

I have my seatbelt light shut off; There is a trick to doing it for each car. I do this because I always start my car up before taking off, and I get tired of hearing the warning sound when I'm not in the car.

But I always wear my seatbelt.

Robatolla 05-16-2007 11:03 PM

pretty much habit now.once in awhile i'll forget then when i think about it i feel i will just be jinxing myself if i don't put it on no matter how far i'm going!
i always think of those german crash test films where the guys go off mountainsides in like a fuckin fiat or sumthin small like that hit trees and shit and don't die because they got their belt on.i've also seen most of the drivers ed movies.
